There is a website that you can "rent" plus clothing and send them back and they will send you more outfits. This way your not spending a ton of money on clothing that in a few months won fit. I have not used them yet as I am just 2 week post op but a co worker had the sleeeve in August and gave me the info. Check it out if you like.

SkinnyMinnyIwillBe reacted to HumanMerelyBeing in THIS is how the first 4 weeks go...
    Hello all -
I know several of us are hitting our 1 month mark this week. Mine is today.
The body is an incredible thing, truly. It's a healing machine quite frankly.
At one and two weeks out:
-you wonder what you have done to yourself and you are pretty sure you will never feel quite normal again
-you can't imagine yourself ever sleeping anywhere but the living room recliner
-the thought of driving or going back to work seems like an unrealistic commitment you made Way Back Before Surgery
-you can get in so little Water and Protein that it dawns on you that THESE are the weeks that will cause Hair loss several months from now
-you learn what "sliming" is (ewwww)
-MyFitnessPal tells you repeatedly: "You are getting too few calories. If every day were like today, you would be DEAD in 5 weeks."
    At three weeks out:
-you feel better but not really there yet
-you need extra naps on the weekend
-getting in your water and protein can be done with the effort of a full time job
-you have a strange painful stitch in your side that you've resigned yourself to bravely live with the rest of your life
-you accidentally sleep all night with the heating pad on your largest incision site on its highest setting
-you walk 20 minutes on the treadmill and then come onto this site and disbelievingly post, "WHEN did they say I should start exercising????"
-your body decides you must be on a grueling episode of Survivor and goes into starvation mode yielding the world's most devastating weight loss stall prompting you to decide that you are a failure and did this all for NOTHING
    At four weeks out:
-you sleep in your own bed in whatever position you want
-the fire-hazardous heating pad gets put away
-you walk 2+ miles at lunch and think maybe you could have done more
-you have enough energy to really start cleaning the house again and get totally aggravated at hubby and kids for how little they managed to do for the past month
-you randomly feel happy, mad, silly, sad as hormones and emotions take their toll
-you have to pack up the first set of clothes which are now too big
    -you feel healthy....dare I say...normal?
Yep, the first month is kind of amazing.

SkinnyMinnyIwillBe reacted to 1Day1Life4Now in 10 Mistakes WLS Patients Make...
I saw this online in another site and thought I would share with everyone. It got me to thinking about ways to insure my success:
    1. Not taking Vitamins and supplements.
    2. Assuming you have been cured of "obesity". We have to live a healthy WLS life-style for the rest of our lives or the weight WILL come back.
    3. Drinking with meals. The tool of not drinking with meals is a critical key to long term success.
    4. Not eating right. In today's society it is a challenge to eat right. Make it easy on yourself. Don't skip meals, don't keep unhealthy Snacks around, feed yourself at regular intervals so you won't make poor choices about meals. Consider having some personal absolutes such as: avoid all fried foods, avoid all sugary foods, always use low-fat options, or only eat in a restaurant once per week.
    5. Not Drinking enough Water. Most WLS patients are at risk for dehydration. Drinking a minimum of 64oz per day will help you to avoid this risk. Drinking Water flushes out your system, helps you lose weight and avoid kidney stones.
    6. Grazing. Nibbling small amounts here and there throughout the day can make your weight creep up. Make a plan for what you will do when you crave food so you will do something constructive that will not involve eating.
    7. Not exercising regularly. Exercise is one of the best weapons a WLS patient has to fight regain. It boosts your spirits and keeps our metabolism running strong. When you exercise you build muscle. The more muscle you have the more calories you will burn even at rest.
    8. Eating the wrong carbs (or too many). Face it, refined carbs are addictive. If you eat them you will only crave more of them. Eat complex carbs.
    9. Drinking Sodas. Some people claim that drinking sodas stretched their pouches. What we know for sure is that sodas keep you from getting hydration you need after WLS. Diet soda has been connected to weight gain in the general population. Find other drinks to fall in love with.
    10. Drinking Alcohol. If you drank alcohol before WLS you will probably want to drink it post surgery. Most surgeons recommend waiting one year after surgery before drinking. Be very cautious, you may get drunker quicker which can cause health problems and put you in dangerous situations. Alcohol is connected to weight gain because it has 7 calories per gram where Protein and vegetables only have 4 calories per gram. It is noted that some people develop ad addiction to alcohol after WLS so be very cautious. If you notice a problem, contact your doctor.

SkinnyMinnyIwillBe got a reaction from Iambeautiful in Confessions of the newly sleeved
A friend of mine had the sleeve done a year ago and at week three decided it was ok to have a 1/2 of a chic-fila sandwich and a few sips of a sprite. Needless to say ended up back in surgery the next day. I am 2 weeks out and on phase 2 full liquid and will be for another week.

    Hi Abry,
Nice to see a fellow Texan. Just had my surgery on 3/4/14 and I was on on Clear Liquids for 4 days and now on Full Liquids for 2 weeks, then onto pureed food for 2 weeks then soft foods for another 2. I was also on Clear Liquids plus Protein shakes for 3 1/2 weeks prior to surgery.

SkinnyMinnyIwillBe got a reaction from TheOldMeAgain in Feel great but not losing
I was also sleeved March 4 and we have lost exactly the same. I am thrilled for the loss. You must remember that although you feel great you are still probably swollen and retaining Fluid as well. Have you had regularly bowel movements? Have you began phase 2 with the creamed Soups (taking in more calories then previous weeks)? Are you near your cycle? All these could be factors. My understanding is that a stall is 2 weeks or more at the same weight.

I experienced slight pain when liquid hit the belly for the first 3 to 4 days. Warm and room temps felt better then really cold or hot. I also had the WTH did I do to myself moments but each day gets better and better. No real regrets however. Your doing just fine Miss Janey.

Mechanical soft according to my plan is anything I can cut with a plastic fork. My education guide has a really detailed list of what is or isn't allowed if you are interested I can email it to you? I look it at about 3 or 4 times a week to double check what I should and shouldn't be eating.

We're in a new office building & have see-through windows in conference rooms, with the exception of a frosted window strip going through the middle of the window walls so you can't see the people when they're sitting down around the table.
So, I'm walking down the hall, passing one of the conference rooms & check out the reflection of a thin figure going by. I actually stopped myself in my own tracks realizing, "Holy shi*, that's ME!!!!!!!!!!!"
I don't mean to sound conceited in any way, shape or form, but I actually looked nice. I can't believe I didn't even recognize my own reflection.
It's taken me 1 1/2 years to get here, but guess what, I AM FINALLY HERE!!!

I'm 8 days away and feeling "over" this liquid diet too but it's only 8 more days. Just have to keep reminding myself. Yes it is really 8 more days plus 2 weeks of full liquids but I am trying to convince myself I won't care so much after surgery!
