I would do it again in a heart beat. It has been over 7 years since I been in the 100's. If it wasn't for the band I would still be sitting in the 200's. Love my band!

Awesome Job! I just went through some boxes of clothes this weekend, you know the ones that you will lose weight to fit into. Well guess what I fit into them, size 14. It has been years since I have seen a 14. Also my weight is not moving either, but something is working. Keep up the great work!

@@Bandista you are funny. I have never weighed less than my husband and we have been together for over 15 years. I think he has a gained a few pounds since my surgery because he eats my leftovers lol. I tell him its all part of my plan. If he gains and I keep losing then it will happen faster lol.

Today was my 9 month bandiversary. I've had many NSV's along the way but none as good as the one I experienced today. You see, 1 year ago this weekend, I participated in my very first 5K race. My teenage son talked me into doing it. I reluctantly agreed. I walked the entire race and it took me almost an hour to finish it. And I was walking as fast as I could. The race is held annually so we decided after last year's race that we would return this year. So today, we did the same race that took me almost an hour to finish and I was able to finish it in about 31 minutes. Not only that, I placed 3rd in my age division! I've been doing 5K races about once a month since spring and I run 3-4 days a week but I've never been able to finish a 5k in 31 minutes and I've never placed in any of them. Needless to say, I got all teary-eyed when I was walking up to get my medal! I have an appt. with my surgeon on Wednesday and I intend to take my medal with me so I can show him what he's done for me and thank him for helping me to get my life back

I woke up today feeling great and for the first time no reminders of my surgery. It is important to take the time to recuperate this isn't a race to the finish line. This is the start of a new way of life.

to lose weight, bypass, sleeve, lap band, ds or whatever..
one must eat less calories than they burn off
.....and only the person doing the eating, knows that answer and truth surfaces when one steps on the scale.< /p>
a very small % have issues but ANY wls has issues/complications..
some people like to say their wls is best and proclaim it with zest
but what i feel is 100% truth...no one wls is better than the other.....no matter what anyone says
we should all do what works for us....and use it as the dr advised for best results

Holy COW!! The changes in my body are so very noticeable and I'm beside myself with excitement! Yes, I've lost 26 pounds, and that's so incredibly awesome, but the OTHER successes are even more important to me.
    * I've dropped from a size 24 to a size 20. (Sadly, this means I have to go shopping. I hate shopping.)
    * I've dropped from a 42H bra size to a 40F ... and am currently wearing a 40DD sports bra that I've not been able to wear in THREE YEARS!
    * I have more ENERGY to do things that I need and want to do.
    * NO MORE UPPER BACK FAT!! This morning when I put my bra on, it felt like the strap was caught on my fat. It's happened so very often that I've gotten used to checking the mirror to see where things are hung up and maneuver it around the fat rolls. But this morning when I looked .. the strap was simply TWISTED, and there was NO FAT for the strap to be caught on!! WHAT??
    * My hubby is very .... appreciative of my shrinking form. I'll just leave that as it is.
What awesome successes have you guys achieved?

chrissy10 reacted to PuraVida37 in I did it! I got to "goal"!
When I was banded just under a year ago, I didn't really pick a weight goal. That didn't hold any interest for me. Instead I picked a physical challenge goal: running a 5k. I did it today!!! I RAN THE WHOLE THING WITHOUT STOPPING!!! I had my best time too!!! It's only going to get better from here!!
    My next goals are:
--making it to 100lbs loss (soon, I think!! Only 10 lbs to go)
    --finishing a 5k in less than 40min (today's was 42)
--doing a headstand (IDK why, it just seems cool?)
--getting to size L (I'm XL now)
A friend invited me to do a mini-triathalon with her next April. I think I just might do it!!!!

8.8 pounds a month is great weight loss....... Don't kid yourself or feel bad about "slow" progress. That's GREAT progress. Like I always say.... I added on an average of 5 to 6 pounds a YEAR for 25 YEARS....... I'm thrilled to lose 5 to 6 pounds a MONTH over 2 to 3 YEARS........ even with an occasional stall!

I am going to start this as well. Since I am coming in late this week. I am doing it today, and then start on Monday again. So Monday and Wednesdays will be my days. The hard part will be no coffee for me in the morning on those days. I have been stuck at the same weight for around over month now and need something to kick start me. Good luck to everyone.

chrissy10 reacted to 2muchfun in My doctor says that gastric banding is a waste of time.
You keep your stomach? Uh, better check those X-Rays Marie? And malabsorption is a possibility even though it's a remote one, just like slips and erosions are rare.
Do you have fillings? Ever have any kind of mesh implant? How about if your organs fail, no heart valves or stints for you? ACL reconstructions? No cadaver ligaments and no plates or screws for broken bones? How about silicone? Tattoos? Piercings? Total knee and hip replacemenets? This infatuation with not having a foreign object in one's body is so silly it's laughable. Virtually no one escapes this world without some kind of foreign body on or in our bodies.
But the fear of having 85% of a major body organ cut out is understandable.imo There's no turning back after 85% extraction. And I believe that some people need this form(sleeve) of WLS simply because they can't control their eating habits. Likewise for the band. But there's a % of patients who are in control and only need a little help with curbing their appetite to make it over that hump. That's where the band comes in.

    how to stay motivated?
how about putting on clothes that were too tight or you couldnt even pull up over your thighs and walaa..now they fit or they are even too big? do that and that will keep you motivated (that is what i do)
    some others:
being able to put socks on or paint your toenails
    wiping your own butt
walking more than 10 steps without dying
    not using a cpac anymore
those were some of my non scale victories..as long as one is LOSING
who cares how long it takes to get to our goal we want to be at....its not a race
its an endurance to last a lifetime..YOURS...

you keep doing what you do......eating as clean/healthy as you can, exercise, drink and stay hydrated and judge your true/actual success by your better health and clothes getting looser and looser....just because the scale doesnt move (in my opinon) does not mean a stall....it just hasnt caught up yet...
