  1. Almost 9 months post op & down 114 from date of surgery. Completely happy with my progress so far. Working hard at obtaining my goal!
  2. I love Target's brand of workout clothes. Usually find things at a decent price and they are cute! Have fun shopping for FUN workout clothes!
  3. @@Kya Wolf - I had a hard time taking in any fluids post surgery. I was lucky if I was able to drink 20-30oz a day. liquid, esp Water seemed to make my stomach spasm - not sure why - but it did. Anyways - because I wasn't drinking nearly enough, I ended up with a UTI & kidney infection, which landed me back in the hospital for 2 days. I wasn't drinking enough Fluid to flush out my kidneys, which is what caused the infection. Try to keep drinking enough fluids. It will help. If you are concerned about an infection - def check with your doctor!! Hope you get some relief soon! Best of luck.
  4. From my experience - before surgery I squeezed myself into clothes that we too small but I made them fit. They stretched and lost their original shape - therefore they "fit"! During this process, I have gone from a tight 26/28 to being comfortable in a size 18 (might try on 16's this weekend!). Be patient with your body and the weight loss. You see the numbers changing on the scale which is fantastic - trust me - soon enough you will be dropping pant sizes so quickly! Congratulations on your weight loss so far! You're doing GREAT!
  5. I have never heard of anyone losing their teeth. I echo what everyone else here said... as long as you take your Vitamins, supplements and Protein - there is no reason that you should fear losing your teeth. My guess is if you heard someone lose their teeth post surgery - they had some other oral issue going on that really has no correlation to bariatric surgery.
  6. @@mellytoon0908 - happy to hear you called your doc. Hope you get some answers and pain relief soon!!! Take care.
  7. This is very very normal. For weeks I was only eating tablespoons of food at a time. If you are drinking your Protein shake(s) and taking your Multivitamins you will be getting in nutrients and protein. Don't worry about quantity of food - give your new tiny tummy time to adjust - especially when adding in "new" foods. Best of luck to you!
  8. If you are having pain whether it is sharp/unbearable or like you describe as a sudden onset of consistent pain, you really should go to your doctor to make sure there isn't something serious going on internally. Don't take pain lightly and don't ignore it. Please call your doctor - that's what they are there for!! Hope you get some relief soon!!
  9. Cuc's are a gassy food and if they are not peeled then your tummy may be having trouble breaking it down. It may have just been too much for your tiny tummy to handle. The first time I tried a scrambled egg after surgery, I was sick ALLLLL day. I would call your doctor if you are still having this much trouble and especially if you are fearful of becoming dehydrated. Take care of yourself!
  10. Perfect! Going to print this out and put in on my fridge!! Thanks for sharing.
  11. WOW!! You are doing GREAT Jack!!! Keep it up!! So happy for you!
  12. This is a question you should be asking your surgeon. However, I will speak from my experience. I had what they think was a small leak 4 weeks post op. I ended back in the OR for emergency surgery, where they then couldn't find the leak because my stomach was so inflamed. I was in the hospital for almost a week, on IV antibiotics, fluids, and had a PICC line for nutrients (lipids). I was not allowed to eat anything for 5 days because they weren't sure if I would have to have an additional surgery. After a battery of tests they still couldn't determine if I had a leak or if I had an ulcer that formed on the incision line that had ruptured. I was a rare case. My surgeon, who is beyond excellent, told me that he has never had anyone with the situation that I had. And most certainly never had anyone with a leak so far out from surgery. He and his team were quite concerned for my well being and have been great with their follow up care. Now, almost 6 months after I was sleeved, I am healed and healthy and am already surpassing their goals for me at this stage in the game. Please talk extensively with your surgeon and/or his team about your concerns and questions regarding this surgery. Best of luck to you!!
  13. My doc didn't want me worrying about Protein right after surgery. He was more concerned about Fluid intake. I went home on Clear liquids and super soft foods (cream of wheat, yogurt, Soup etc). At my 2 week post op appointment is when they started stressing increasing my protein. I didn't have much trouble with gas (try GasX - I heard that helps a lot of WLS patients), but I did not have a BM for quite a few days after surgery. I started adding Benefiber to drinks and broth to help - and it did! If you are concerned with anything post op - call your doc! That's what they are there for!! Hope you get some relief soon!
  14. I'm starting Crossfit next week! Super excited. Kind of nervous. But ready to really push myself!! Never thought I'd be the girl who would be excited to start a workout program such as Crossfit!! But super excited that I am!!
  15. These are great!!! Must order one!!
  16. I started eating salad about 3 months post op. Didn't really have any trouble with it. I don't eat raw carrots or celery as they are too tough still. I always pair my salad with a Protein - chicken or tuna. I would say try eating a very small salad (few pieces), and see how your tummy handles it. If you feel ok - next time try a little more.
  17. I had my period the week of surgery and my surgeon didn't have a problem with me wearing a tampon. They put extra bed pads under me just in case but not once did i feel uncomfortable or uneasy about having it during surgery. So sorry you've had a bad experience in the past. But I do agree with the others...just let your doc know. No biggie.
  18. Hi @Geoff - your doctor will clear you when it is medically appropriate for you to return to exercise. Right after surgery- likely a few hours after, your doctor will have you up and walking around. This is to help prevent blood clots, pneumonia, and to move the air around that will be in your gut (read: gas). I started walking daily after surgery to just get moving. However, I waited the 2 1/2 months (as my surgeon suggested) before I started any weights or any ab/core activity. Once you are cleared to exercise - make sure you are doing what you enjoy. Cardio is a great place to start. Walking, elliptical, biking, swimming etc. Start by doing a little each day. Then each week - add a little more time or distance. Weight training will be key to help tone areas that will be troublesome once you start losing all of this weight. Weight training will also help you burn more calories longer than cardio. Be patient with yourself as you build strength and endurance. Best of luck to you!!
  19. @@yescobar - as long as your dr has cleared you for intense exercise then I would say yes. Along with crossfit or any strength training program make sure you are getting in cardio - walking/jogging/biking etc.
  20. The first time I tried eggs after surgery, I was about 3 weeks post op. Oh my goodness - they made me SO sick!! Horrible. Took me a few more weeks to try eggs again. Almost 5 months out now and still not a huge fan of whole eggs, but egg whites seem to sit better, so that's what I stick with. Take it easy on yourself and don't rush foods. Be kind to your tiny tummy! Best of luck!

Before pictures. Sad reminders of just how unhealthy I was becoming. Yet, a happy reminder of what I never want to go back to.
  22. Oh my!! You look FANTASTIC!! And I bet you are feeling SO much better too!! Congratulations and keep up the great work!
  23. oh boy - I wish I lived near you!! i'm slowly working my way into 16's - and cant stand paying for new clothes! lol. best of luck finding a buyer!
  24. Good morning @@starspring & @@ijones67 - I have been exercising quite a bit. I'm at the gym or out walking/jogging 4-5 times a week. Doing a lot of cardio, but also a lot of weight training as weight training burns more calories longer. I'll be doing the Biggest Loser race this upcoming Sunday and am super excited about that. I'll be walking most of it, but will jog part. Protein from meat has been good. I haven't had beef since surgery, so I'm not sure how my tummy would handle it. Fruits and veggies are just fine with me - I have a salad every day - for lunch or dinner (or both) with a protein. I have very little bread as it fills me up to quickly, and since we take in so few calories as it is, I'd rather have quality calories.
  25. Ouch! Sounds like you drank too fast! I agree with everyone else - try walking around to help move things about. I hope you feel better soon!!
