Aggie72 got a reaction from swimbikerun in Sleeve leak
How is your daughter doing? This is so ironic, I am going through the exact same thing right now with my daughter. She is 20, I am 43. I have a sleeve done with zero problems, she had a sleeve done the end of September and has been hospitalized twice since then, and is home now on a TPN and has an open leak that has not healed. It is a living nightmare, and I feel so terrible that I helped and encouraged her to do this. I hope this is over soon! Maybe we should compare notes ..?

Today I hit my goal that I set at the beginning of the journey.
From 511 Lbs. to 220 Lbs. , 290 Lbs. lost in a year and four months.
It hasn't ben easy, but it wasn't all that hard.
I had no problems with the surgery (what so ever) and feel pretty good.
Over the year I have vomited about 6 time learning what I can and can not eat, and not because I have eaten to much.
I consider that the surgery is just the first step. I consider my continuing attendance at my doctors support group just as important .
When you start this process you do it to loose weight, but what you are really saying is that I want to be a different person.
If you have the surgery and remain the same person you are headed for trouble. This is not easy for you, and the people around you.
The surgeon can work on your body but you have to work on your brain.
It is much easier for the body to loose weight than it is for the brain to loose weight (the things that got us into trouble to begin with) .
So do what ever it takes to get you brain on program, support groups, counseling, or what ever.
Remember you have to push yourself to do thing you never thought you could, this is all in line with the process of becoming a new person.
I wanted to post for the new people to let them know this works if you do your part to work on you mind and emotions.
I am still loosing weight, so I am adding a small stretch goal of another 10 pounds, I want the bragging rights of saying that
    I lost 300 Lbs.
PS. For you new people visualize your self writing this post in the future "I Hit My Goal"

    Hey all.
Sharing a small milestone on my WLS journey - hit one hundred pounds down today in a bit over 3 months since surgery. Have dropped in pant sizes from 58's to 46's over that period.
Sadly, still have quite a long way to go and a bit uncertain I'll make it since I have hit a couple stalls over the last 20 pounds or so.
But still felt it was a worthy moment to share.
    Thanks for listening.

I notice that must sleeves are in the high 200's but is there anyone who started higher. My weight day off was 362 give or take a pound....my doctor told me the most common procedure for my weight was the bypass but the long term results are very much the same. Im 5'7" but I definitely strated off way bigger than some posts I see...just curious to know I'd I'm alone lol

I started at 416, and there are folks here that started higher than me. You are definitely not alone!
My surgeon suggested bypass to me as well but I insisted on having the sleeve.

WOOHOOO....congratulations and welcome to TWO-derland...your stay will be short and sweet I am sure!
Absolutely claim that half a pound...I'm on day 3 (or 4) of the three week stall, so even if I lost 1/10 of a pound, I would be claiming it!
    Yahooo!!!! Way to go!

Congratulations to all of you. What a great testament you are to what is possible when you decide to take advantage of a great tool and make a commitment to yourself to use it to its full advantage.
My highest weight was 431, and I distinctly remember my doctor at the time saying something like, "well, we really need to do something about this." That may have been when I woke up and said, "hell, yes!"
I had my surgery Nov. 1, just 3 weeks ago. Prior to surgery, I lost 67 lbs, and another 5 since, for a total loss to date of 72 lbs. If anyone told me I was gonna lost 72 lbs. I would have been almost as shocked as if someone had told me I was gonna gain over 400 lbs.
Both pretty un-f**king believable. But it seems that once you make a commitment to go down this road, you follow a predestined path (med. supv'd diet, etc.) and next thing you know, you're dropping lbs.
Beginning with the pre-op liquid starvation diet and up till now ... the "mushies" soft food diet, it's all kinda hard, but somehow I manage to do it one day at a time. The days mount up and before I know it, I'm past the last difficult stage.
It's a little harder when you don't cook and have little creativity when it comes to putting a pureed meal together. In fact, I'm lucky if I can get in 300 calories a day now. A friend took pity on me and bought me a blender. She's coming over tomorrow to see what tasty?? treats she can whip up for me.
    Any suggestions appreciated.

Hello fellow VSG'ers. I feel like THE biggest and youngest (18) of the group. I'm 6'2 and my highest weight was 538. On surgery day I got down to 514 and now 2 weeks out I'm 484. It's a big feat but I still have 230 pounds to go to my goal. I've started exercising (walking 30-60 minutes a day). I've been feeling so great since the procedure. I walk easier, I don't get winded. I don't crave food as much as I used to. I can walk longer and farther than I used to and I'm sooo excited for this journey.
