Questions 4 days after surgery?
I was banded on the 17th and just have soreness around my port. I am doing very well, I think. I can drink liquids with no problem. I just feel as if I have done an extensive abdomen workout. My physician told me to stay on top of the pain. He suggested I take the pain medication regularly which I have been doing.

pre-op diet question
Lucky you. I was only allowed to have 4 slim fasts per day until I asked my surgeon and he said I could have a soup or two a day. I would have loved to have some fruits and veggies!

How did you sleep post-op??
I was banded on the 17th. I haven't had any problems sleeping yet. Sure, I am sore and tender, but I still can lie on either side.

Newly Banded
I just got banded yesterday, the 17th and have small chest pain and pain around the port. Doing well, so far, I think. I feel very thirsty and am drinking as much water as I can. I have had two popsicles so far. Today, my doctor wants me to try puddings, soups, etc. I, too, was very afraid of leaving three small children behind. But I knew if I did something about my weight soon, I would be leaving them soon anyway. Thanks for everyone's help and encouragement. I have learned a lot from this site and am very glad to find people to share my journey with.

Need help with pre-op diet, please!
I am on day 6 of my 10 day liquid pre-op diet. Can't stand the slim fast or protein shakes at this point. It is everything I can to choke them down, if at all. My surgeon finally said I could have some soups. Tomato or liquid type. I still am sick to my stomach, at the point I don't want to try anything and it is all going right through me! Is it supposed to cleanse you out as well? I am constantly in the bathroom. Anyone else with this problem?

New to the site
AzGirl - I am located in Ohio. I am having the band done in Cincinnati. I have been researching weight loss alternatives for well over a year and have researched the band extensively. Actually I had my consult two weeks ago, my psych visit, and a seminar and decided to go ahead. Having hard time with pro-op diet. Stomach hurts and everything going right through me if you know what I mean. I too am going this week to stock up. I am hoping to be ready ready ready! Angeleyes

I'm another newcomer..
Secretstolen-I am having surgery on the 17th. This is something I researched extensively and was not a rash decision. My family/friends are supportive mostly because I told them I needed their support. I think that people who have never had a weight problem or addiction can not relate. It is so easy for them to say, "well, if you just eat less, exercise more, etc." They are right, but food is an addiction, but you need it to survive. Hang in there and try to ask them to see your point of view. Good luck!

Pre Op Question - Needing Some Feedback Please
AzGirl-Hello, I am Angela. I am having my surgery the morning of the 17th. I also think I am expecting to be fine, but you never know. I am a mother of 5 boys and the youngest being 12 mos. My husband took a few days off work to help, but I hope I won't need more than that. Keep me informed of your process. At least you get jello and cream of wheat. I am on a strict slim fast 4 times a day. I finally called my surgeon and said it was killing me and he said I could have some liquid soup (tomato). I jumped all over that. I started to get weak and shake and have no energy at all. But you know what-I know it will be so worth it in the end.

Hello, I'm Craig from Mayberry!!...haha
I am not nervous at all! It is time I do something! Melissa, how is the liquid thing going? I am struggling. I was told four slim fasts per day and all diet drinks/water. Then I spoke with my surgeon and he said I could have some soup. Let me tell you, after four days of nothing but a few slim fasts, that soup was the best meal! I too am looking for some new friends, who especially know what I am going through!

Help, help, help - preop diet failure
This is my first post. I am scheduled for banding on the 17th. Tonight is my seminar. I am on day 3 and barely can get two slim fasts down. They are gross. I don't like milk, so it is difficult. My stomach hurts of hunger and I am beginning to feel weak, but I really want to suceed at this. Any one else have this problem? My doc said 4 slim fasts per day and any non-calorie drinks I want? Was any one else placed on this?
