    Allergic After Surgery????

I thought I was the only one! I have a latex allergy and used non latex steri strips and band aids and still developed a bad reaction to them. The steri strips actually gave me second degree burns on my stomach and I now have scars from them I am trying to fade out. I wonder why this is? Before surgery, I had no problems with steri strips or band aids! Angela:)

I have had no problems at all. Have you had a consultation yet? Have you been to a seminar? They are very helpful. I look forward to getting to know you better. Angela

    Newly Banded in Cincy

Hello. I was banded by Synchrony Health ( Dr. Mobley) on Aug. 17, 2007. So far, a great experience. Can't wait to get to know all of you and share our experiences. Angela

    Hi from Cincy

hopefulme- Welcome! What doctor are you pursuing? I was banded in cincy and used Dr. Mobley. I was banded on Aug. 17, 2007 and so far have had a very positive experience. It has been less than two months for me, but I totally look at food differently now. Shocked at how much I actually ate before as I think most of us find! Good luck and welcome! Angela

    first fill tomorrow -UK

I get my first fill on the 17th. I am at a standstill as well and my appetite keeps increasing as the days go by. I was told by my physician that I may regain some of the weight I have lost until my first fill. Hang in there. I am anticipating a big change after the fill. Angela

    I pulled my port!

I was banded on the 17th. I have had absolutely no problems with anything until two days ago. I got to laughing so hard I had some pain afterward. Then when I lean a certain way. Get out of bed raise my arm in a certain direction I get SEVERE port pain. It feels as if the port is tearing away from my skin. I hope this goes away. Will it? Like I said, I have had no pain, no problems eating or drinking, nothing until now. I was even swimming yesterday and noticed port pain when stroking. Should I call my doctor. Is it possible for the port to detach from the skin because it sure feels like it is pulling very hard? Angela

    Who did you tell?

First of all I am in the mindset that I really don't care what other people think. This is my struggle in life. I know darned well all my family and friends have their own struggles and I am finally dealing with mine once and for all. My sister in law and supposed good friend said to me one day "don't you think I struggle every day to keep at this weight?" She was really offensive and acted like I was taking an easy way out. You know what, I DONT CARE! She smokes. She can't quit. I just put down my cigarettes two years ago and haven't had one since. I throw that in her face. She has her struggles and I have mine. The nerve of some people. This summer there have been a lot of gatherings for b-days, cookout, etc. I just had surgery two weeks ago and have been on a pre-op and post-op diets. I have received a lot of looks when sipping on my Soups, etc. and everyone else is downing burgers and dogs. So, I tell them. I have no shame. I am very supportive and try not to judge others. EVERYONE has their own issues, whether it be cigarettes, food, drugs, alcohol, relationships, depression, etc. The way I see it, at least we have the courage to due something permanant about ours! Good luck to all of you! Angie
  12. I am newly banded and have my concerns. When I met my current DH I was 100 lbs thinner. He was a very very very jealous man. As time grew on and I grew and grew and grew, he became so much better. The jealousy has becme non existant. Now that I am banded and I beome myself again, I wonder what is going to happen? Will he go back to his old ways? Only time will tell! Ang

    My new AP Band

You took the words right out of my mouth. I was banded on the 17th and had my first post op yesterday. Doc said to start mushies and ease into normal food. Although I am watching my portion, I, too, am waiting for the "restriction". But, my doc said don't be surprised if you gain a little of the weight back before a fill. The fill is really the key to success. So, I'm not so discouraged. Still focusing on the big picture (or a smaller picture of me) which is ahead!

    Surgery 8/30/07

jlw190 - At first, I definately got full faster. Now, almost two weeks out, I can tolerate a little more. I do feel different after eating, though. It is like a switch is going off and saying "you need to stop eating now". I never ever had that feeling before the band. I am anxious for a fill and begin the real journey. I'm still a month away and want to concentrate on healing and re-learning how to eat. About your friend, has she had any fills? Has she discussed this with her doctor? I am self pay and was told by my physician he is there for every part of my journey and WILL make this work and I tend to get my money's worth! (it helps that my doctor is banded, too) Good luck and keep in touch! Angela

    Surgery 8/30/07

Roo - Welcome! I was banded on August 17th and was just sore the day after. I kept on top of my pain meds as directed by one of my nurses and have had very little pain, problems or anything. I drink fine, eat all of my allowed foods fine and just have very little soreness around my port area. Good luck and keep us informed!!! Lots of information on this site. I love it! Angela
  16. skibunny - I feel really good. I think I am very lucky. I have had very little discomfort, just a little soreness around the port area, but all in all I feel good. I am down 20lbs and am anxious to start the real journey. I am not going to lie, this liquid diet is soooooooooooooooo much harder than I ever anticipated. I am so looking forward to trying other foods. I will say I have totally kicked my diet coke habit. I was an addict before surgery and have had no headaches or even a desire for one. I read some of these threads about PBs and they kind of scare me, but it is all trial and error I guess. Good luck with your journey and keep me informed!!! Angela
  17. Welcome. I was banded Aug. 17 and used The Cincinnati Weight Loss Center. I had Dr. Mobley. I live very close to Dayton, Ohio and chose Dr. Mobley because the lap band is ALL they due there! Nothing else. So far, so good. Have lost a total of 20lbs and have my first post op on the 28th. No fills for another 4 weeks. Not easy, but am anticipating great results. Do you live near Dayton? Why did you choose Dr. Macquire? Good luck. Look forward to getting to know you. This is a great site for info and support. Angela

    Are there signs of slippage?

I am wondering the same thing. I am day 6 post op and today I pureed two crakers in with my soup and feel I am a failure and will sabatage the whole thing. I haven't taken bites, per say just added the two crushed crakers to watery soup. I go to my Dr. next week. Can anyone tell me what the first post op visit entails? Thanks
  21. Glad you shared. I, too was having fainting spells. I had surgery the 17th. I thought it was obviously the lack of food, but I bet you I was dehydrated. Thanks for the info. I need to push myself more. I guess because I am drinking all of my meals I feel I don't need to drink as much.
  22. Hello, I am four days post op and have a severe case of cottonmouth. I am drinking plenty of liquids and brushing my teeth often, but can't seem to get rid of it! Anyone else have problems with this?:help:

    I want to cry

Be truthful with your doctor. I don't think you are a failure. Most of us slip. I would get back on track and not get too worked up until the doctor tells you otherwise. Hang in there. I am four days post op and ready to eat everything in sight! I haven't yet, but want to.
  24. angeleyes32

    I want to cry

Are you hurting? Were you able to take the food easily? Are you just afraid you are eating too much? When did your doctor say it was okay for you to try foods? Why do you feel like a failure?
  25. I am four days out and am living on tomato soup, popsicles, pudding and yogurt. I am so tired of the sweetness. But, only a week to go until I can try mushies. I have had no problems so far. I can drink plenty, eat a whole popsicle or pudding with no problems.
