  1. I thought we were friends but since I have had my surgery and she sees that I do not want to eat like she does she doesn't really know how to react to me. Of course she can eat all the junk food she wants without it really effecting her. I can't.
  2. I have been friends with this girl I meet at work for about 3years know. She is not overweight by my standards at all. When we first started hanging out she always wanted to go out and eat. On the other hand I don't like to eat out because I know that I will just eat again when I get home. Low and behold I gained about 30lbs from the constant eating out over the next 2 years. I started telling her about how unhappy I was about my weight and she would tell me I needed to exercise more and eat better, but she would turn right around and offer me candy and chips and when I would give in and eat it I would tell her that she needs to stop offering me those things. She would say well why did you eat it, just say no. If that wasn't the CRAZIEST thing I ever heard. If I could do that I wouldn't be as big as I am know. So when I told her that I was having wls she seemed happy for me, but know we don't do anything together anymore I guess because I can't eat like I used to (which was eat mine and help her finish hers). I also have a little more self control than I did before. Which she seemes to have started to pick up a little weight and know wants to exercise with me. Which I have 100s of pounds to lose she only has 20 or more pounds to lose. I feel like if I start working out with her that will bring me down a little because I know that when she has lost enough she will stop and I of course will have to keep on going by myself like I have always. I do'nt know what to do about this situation. I really needed to vent.
  3. Well my doctor put me on a 1000 calorie diet. She said that I need to drink at lest 64 oz. of water a day and 70 grams of protein. I just recently started working out everyday and this is the last day of my summer classes. I will focus for the next few months on getting my restriction right and my eating habits better and maybe I will see a difference.
  4. It seems I am at a stand still. I was banded on Feb 4, 2005. I started out at 420 lbs. Before the surgery I lost 10lbs, after surgery I lost another 10 within the 6weeks stage of liquids and mushies. So far I am only 388 and I keep going from 388 to 390. I feel like I should be losing more. I just had my third fill a few weeks ago. The restriction is fine but I feel like maybe I should go on a liquid phase until monday and start fresh. Does anyone have any advice?
  5. I have a question. I have had a total of 3 fills. The most recent was Friday 24, 2005. The nurse told me that normally when you get a fill it might give you enough restriction for a while but it might level off and you will need a new fill. Does the saline go back into the tub and when more is put in all of it comes back? Since I have had my third fill I have not been able to eat foods that I could before this fill. I have also experienced the stuck feeling more often when I have realized I can't eat a certain food anymore.
  6. Put me down too. I don't have any pics but I would like to join. I don't know it might be just the encouargment I need. Besides I had a dream about oreo chocolate cookies last night. It was a nightmare.
  7. I was having the same doubts about gum too. I used to chew it all the time and swallow it but I just recently started back chewing gum since I got banded in Feburary 05 and I was really worried about what would happen if I swallowed it. I just choose to throw it away.
  8. But what if you really want to drink something. I find it very hard to eat and not drink. Sometimes I would rather drink than eat. I guess I am so used to eating and drinking at the same time that it is hard for me to stop.
  9. I am also having the same problems. I got banded in febuary 2005 and I have only lost 30lbs. I feel like I should be doing so much better. I am going in for my third fill this friday the 24th. I hope that after this fill I will feel a little more restriction. They did a big fill the first time of 1.5cc and every time after that they will do 5cc. The nurse said it was a good idea to go slow with the fills, but sometimes I wish they would do a large amount. I don't want to starve but I want to lose more. I also have to stop my eating habits of eating the wrong foods. I will go to the grocery store and see all the things I used to eat and pick them up just to put them back before I check out. It is hard but If I keep working with the band and not against it maybe I will be more succesfull.
  10. I have cigna and they denied me several times until my doctor had me do a lot of test and they finally gave in when they saw that my weight was the cause of my failing health. Cigna normally will approve the surgery you just have to go through a lot of test for them to see that it is not just cosmetic surgery.
  11. I thought I was the only one who did that. I used to chew it then spit it out in the sink. I guess I just needed to chew on something.
  12. What did your doctor say about whey proteins? That is what my doctor suggested for me to take. I use the natural whey protein powders. I can put it in anything and it tastes great.
  13. You look great. Good job! I too was scared when I lost thirty pounds it seems so unreal. I have never lost anything more that 10-15lbs at a time before I got banded. I can't wait until I too am 70 less. I set a goal to lose at least 30 more by my birthday when I turn the big 30 in August. Your picture has inspired me that I can do it.
  14. I did'nt have to be on clear liquids. My doctor said I could dring grape juice or cranberry juice but it had to be dilluted 1/2 juice 1/2 water. I then mixed my protien powder in with it and it tasted great. I use whey protien (natural flavor) you can put in anything It makes it taste like a smoothie.
  15. I am glad and sad at the same time that I am not the only one here that is having the same problems. I had my surgery feb 3 2005 and I lost 20 pounds from the pre-op diet. My weight kept yo-yoing for the first two months. I had a fill in march that didn't do to good then I had one in may it has a little restriction but not enough. I will probably go for a fill in june. I have only lost 12 more pounds since surgery. I also felt like a failure, but it is taking me time to get used to this tool. I know that I have to take my time and eat sowly. If you eat to fast your not giving your stomach time to tell you that you are full. It is hard but that is the reason why we all had the surgery done to help us eat better and to lose weight. It has been about 4 months since my surgery but I think soon I will get the hang of this.
  16. How do you post the ticker to keep a record of how much weight you have lost?
  17. I too have a problem overeating certain things when I am around them. Number one is PASTA. The doctors should have never told me I can eat canned ravioli because it is soft and easy to pass through. I could not stopp eating it when it was time for me to eat soft foods. I finally had to stop buying it and opt for food that did not have a huge affect on my sugar levels. I try my best to eat a sugar-free jello and light whipp cream and I also have a obbsesion for ice pops they are only 35 calories and that helps me stop craving a lot of sweets.
  18. Thank you all for your encouraging words. It took me a while to get back on this web site because I forgot which one I was on. Know that I have found it again I am soooo happy!
  19. Whe I was banded on Feb 3 2005 my doctor put a few stiches around my band in order to cut the risks of the band slipping if I had a pb. Did anyone elses doctor do that?
  20. I also have a very physical job at Federal Express I took 6 weeks off to be on the safe side. I was banded on Feb 3 2005 and I am now able to do mostly everything I did before. I am still cautious of lifting or pulling anything that might cause me to strain too much.
  21. I need help I just recently had my surgery in Feburary 2005 and recieved my first fill 2weeks ago. I think I made the mistake of telling people that I was having this surgery done because every time I talk to someone they ask " How's the weight loss going?" It has only been a few months, It's too much pressure I wish they would ask 6 months from now instead of every week. Did you experience any thing like this?
