different people have different standards, but I dont' call them rules.

Some people stop drinking 30 minutes, some don't. Different of philosophies. I drink water right up until I pick up my spoon or fork.

However, the longer you can keep from drinking after you eat the better. I try to wait about 90 minutes after eating to keep my pouch full longer. I am not always successful, but that is what I try to do.

Most doctors say to wait before and after you eat. I personally can't eat much food if I drink right up to the time I eat. I get full really fast, which is good, but then I'm hungry in an hour. I was told to wait 1/2 hour afterwards, but I try to hold out for 1-2 hours before drinking because I stay full all day that way.

I would say not drinking during and immediatly after meals has been my hardest challenge. I try to wait at least 45 minutes after eating to drink. I should be waiting more than an hour but I am working on that! It seems like the only time I get thirsty is when I am eating and that is not when I am supposed to be drinking.

But what if you really want to drink something. I find it very hard to eat and not drink. Sometimes I would rather drink than eat. I guess I am so used to eating and drinking at the same time that it is hard for me to stop.
