  1. Hubby got me a FITBIT FLEX wristband for Christmas... It tracks everything and u can download to fitnesspal.com. I am 64 and figured it out.. I know you younger girls will have no problem!
  2. 6 weeks out and I am only to have no more than 4 ozs! ( 1/2 cup ) which is fine with me... Anymore than that ..I am not feeling great!
  3. My favorite is GNC s Lean Shake .. Pumpkin spice flavor Or their vanilla truffle mixed with almond milk, PB2 and 1/4 banana ( can add Swiss miss SF cocoa ) yummy
  4. I purchased the cutest wig from Raquel Welsh wigs.com! Looks like my hair only thicker than I ever had ! I am ready in case ( and it will) happen ! Plan ahead? Lol
  5. Urininary Infections ( UTI) are common post op issues... I have had two...drinking more helps and the antibotic is needed to clear it out...Good Luck but don't let it go..it can go up into your kidneys
  6. I am so happy to be on this journey to a healthier me! RNY on Nov 18th...lost 45# as of today. My question is how do we get past the stalls I have had . My surgeon says NO WORRIES..be patient. It is normal to have them at one month and 6 weeks out. Your body is learning to adjust. Yes, I did move past both of these now but the first one lasted 2 weeks. Anyone know a trick to help move past it? Please share for us Newbies following your vast knowledge we search for! Thanks ,Dyan from Toledo area in Ohio
  7. All I felt was relief that the surgery was over, successful and I was on my way to weight loss and health! Yes, My mouth was dry and my throat a tiny bit sore! All that is totally normal... NO PAIN, .. great staff caring for me!
  8. SherriB .. Does your surgeon know your eating things like popcorn? I had RNY on the 18th also.. Have lost 42 #'s too but was told never those things.. They can get caught in your stoma opening or your staple line this early .. Salsa has unpeeled tomato which can block the opening of the small intestine.. No acid in pouch to breakdown skins like in grapes, peaches , tomato or apple.. Be careful please ????
  9. I was told they occur more often in patients that are eating that 1/2 cup of food entirely too fast.... My surgical team wants us to take 30 minutes to eat! Makes for reheating a few times each meal????
  10. I am type 1 but have been able to cut my units back about 70% and am not dealing with large amounts of fat cell producing insulin any longer!
  11. HW 252. Day of surgery 245. Today 208 and thrilled for only 6 weeks out!
  12. Nov 18th RNY weighted 252 at my high. .. 245 day of surgery. Today I was 208 and very thrilled with it!
  13. Happy New Year to all of us and especially to the November group! . Had my almost 6 week follow up.. Thrilled to hear I am at the 42% loss ! This after I was stalled at 4 weeks out and for 10 days lost and gained the same ONE pound! Feeling great and working out 5 days a week IS moving the scale down again.. At 64 I never even knew how to use equipment in gym ( other than walking lol ) I think I might actually enjoy it and my old folks swim class . ddc75cdfca.. Feeling kinda proud of the changes and my 10 Grandkids helping me find some "cool" outfits ...
  14. I am 65 and had many of the same feelings .. Even in the pre op surgery center an hour prior to my Rny by pass! I am also a type 1 diabetic and have Had a triple heart bypass and GERD so severe it damaged my lungs! I am now 6 weeks post op and am so happy I pushed through the negative thoughts! I am off almost all meds and my insulin levels are now at 22 units Lantus BID compared to 350 units BID! I could of written your post! I am down 3 sizes, have lost 42 #s and 16"s.. The surgery was not a big deal, very little pain and I was out Christmas shopping at the end of the first week! The easy part is that I am NOT hungry like other attempts! Follow your heart / instincts but don't be afraid to lose it all and get healthier than ever! Best of choices to you...
  15. I didn't sleep well until about a month out from by pass.. My surgeon just says it is pretty normal and it will get better.. He was AGAIN right!
  16. If it helps .. I had a Rny by pass on nov 18th. I was told egg size but never more than 3. -4 ozs .. At 6 weeks out they allowed me 1/2 cup but to eat it over 30 minutes ( staying mindful of when I am full ) right now 1/2 cup seems to filling.. Your pouch will let u know ! Good luck
  17. My surgeon stays away from sleeves due to a higher amount of complications.. He has been providing WLS for 20 years .... I know many folks on these forums are very happy with their choices. I am only 5 weeks out from bypass and am feeling 100% and have lost 3 dress sizes and 39#.. And off my meds I had been on! Let your surgeon guide you through your questions and choices also.. Share your concerns with him. Best of health to you
  18. Judy.. I am in that terrible stall.. Lost 2 pounds in 2 .5 weeks! Guess my body used up my stored gluegon and needs to adjust now ! I know I am still losing inches so I have to believe the weight will catch up ! My Rny was done Nov 18th Hope your feeling great!
  19. I take miralax every few days and it seems to help... Miserable feeling!
  20. My roun Y was almost 6 weeks ago ( nov 18th) doing great.. Dropped 32 so far but I had that dreaded 2 week stall you here about .. But it has stabilized now! Love looking a smaller size clothes and finding they fit! Love GNC lean shake in pumpkin spice flavor or their Quest protein bars!
  21. I'd be interested in a few pair of your size 20 jeans .. Can u private message me ? I would u but I am not sure how. Lol
  22. My 32 year old daughter had a rounY done 12 years ago and gained back about 75% back .. My surgeon told her the pouch is not stretched as much as she thought! She just stopped eating like she should of . She began back on the food plan the day I had mine ( nov 18) and she is losing it right along with me. With all the protein and fluids she is never hungry.. Just like before . Try doing it like you know.... Hope this helps
  23. Count me in Kevin! I will post on Fridays also.. Almost 6 weeks post rounY began at 252 .. Weighing in tonight at 213 ! Time to look for some smaller clothes. ????????????
  24. Happy your past the surgery! I am 64 and almost six weeks out.... Everything went well and I am feeling great! I did have to have an unexpected belly hernia repair but other than that it has been much easier than I had feared! I am off many meds and my type 1 diabetes is now requiring so much less insulin. Had lung damaging GERD that is now resolved.. I have dropped 14" and 37#'s .. 3 dress sizes.. The first week is the worst of it! I made my own protein shakes( almond milk and PB2 ( powdered peanut butter) Krogers and vitamin shop carry it.. Mix in pudding or yogurt and protein powder. I now drink GNC lean shakes ( pumpkin spice is great) and they also sell quest protein bars that have 0 sugar and about 5 grams of fat. My surgeon requires 64 oz fluids and 60 grams of protein ( wish I rarely reached until about 3 weeks out) he increased protein to 75-80 after a month. Bowel issues normalized about then also... After adding more foods... Best decision I ever made! Know that the hormone changes do set u off balance for the first few weeks and then stabilize also

I have that also... Moist heat applied to jaw and eat soft foods until you get improvement.. We found our patients did better on Advil or Aleve over a narcotic... ( no anti~immflamortory in pain meds ) Best of luck !
