Talk with your doctor. There are meds that can help you. I went through it, and the meds really helped. Once I finally got over the hump I did not need the meds anymore.

Zofran was my friend for the 1st few months post op. I would definitely bring it up to your surgeon. Good luck!

Sorry to hear that you are having this problem but it makes me feel so much better. I had a bypass on November 18th down 42 lbs. but it seems my eating is getting worse instead of better. Most everything makes me gag or throw up. The things I really shouldn't be eating like popcorn, chips and salsa give me no problem. I can't tolerate any meat and am getting really tired of oatmeal and cream of wheat. I can eat cottage cheese but uggh I'm so tired of cold foods. I really need to get back to the surgeon for some help.

SherriB .. Does your surgeon know your eating things like popcorn? I had RNY on the 18th also.. Have lost 42 #'s too but was told never those things.. They can get caught in your stoma opening or your staple line this early .. Salsa has unpeeled Tomato which can block the opening of the small intestine.. No acid in pouch to breakdown skins like in grapes, peaches , tomato or apple.. Be careful please ????

After my surgery I could only have liquids , moved onto oatmeal , Soup, and eggs... At 12 weeks they did an endoscopy and they said I had an ulcer... Still had the nausea and throwing up for awhile ...

I am sorry to hear of your troubles. Call your doctor Asap!

I agree with ajustice, Zofran works wonders for nausea. Please be sure that hydrate too. I often feel nausea if I am not getting in my fluids.

My surgeon does not know that I'm eating popcorn, chips and salsa but I will be honest when I go for my post op visit. Have to make that appointment today. I'm going to try increasing the fluids today.

I'm wondering if some patients have different diets than others. I was talking to a friend tonight that had hers a year ago and she said she can't believe I'm eating what I do. I was on Clear Liquids for four days then moved to full liquids. Things like malt o meal sugar free pudding and blended cream Soups. She said she was told to do clear liquid for five weeks after.

Did get to see my GI dr. yesterday only because I had a previously scheduled appointment. He is thinking I might need the opening to my stomach stretched, he said he is seeing more and more of that. He definitely ruled out ulcers and thinks a hernia is not probable. He said at this point eat whatever will stay down and I specifically asked about the popcorn and he said he wouldn't recommend it but if that will stay down then go ahead and eat it. So he wants me to go back to the surgeon so I will go there next week. Yes I've noticed each surgeon has many differences in the diets before and after. My dr. does not believe in the pre surgery diet so I was happy to miss that step.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
