  1. My doctor told me to exercise to build muscle because muscle burns fat. That has helped my scale move. Good luck.
  2. I love the Fitness Pal ap! My surgery was Dec 18. I have lost almost 60 pounds and I am loving it. I did stall a bit around 5 weeks but got started on an exercise program and the scale started moving. I haven't had issues with dumping but did have a piece of food get stuck. It was really painful and I had to vomit to relieve it. It was because I didn't chew a piece of food enough. Now that my life, food and exercise is becoming more routine, I fell back into an age old habit of taking a bite while I was getting dinner ready for my family. It was definitely a painful but powerful reminder that I have a new body now. I hate to complain about my new body but the constipation is a real pain in the a... Haha. I have been using Benefiber on a daily basis because my doctor recommended it but I can't find a good balance yet. I have to use Milk of Mag at least once a week. I have also been losing a lot of hair, fortunately i have a lot of thick curly hair so it isn't noticeable but I realized it may be because I was taking my multi vitamin 2x a day before food instead of with it. Lesson learned, read the labels.

  4. I was terrified too. My surgery was 12/18 and it goes by quickly. The fear was by far worse than the reality. I I am shrinking! I started at my highest weight of 289. I lost some weight during the pre-op 2 weeks of liquid protein. Today my bathroom scale said 245! This surgery was truly the best Christmas gift I could have possibly gotten. Hang in there and be gentle with yourself. I will keep you in my thoughts.
  5. Best of luck! Every step you take is toward a healthier you! It is exciting! Take everything one step at a time and trust your medical team. You will do great.
  6. Thank you. It means so much to me knowing that their is a community of people so willing to help. It is frustrating to feel tired and restless at the same time. I appreciate the advice though. I will trust in the healing process for now. I see my doctor for my first post op appointment in a few days and will discuss it with him too. Thank you!

  9. I had my gastric bypass just over a week ago and I am struggling to sleep for more than. 2 hours at a time before waking up for 2-3 hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions?

  11. My surgery date was 12/18. On a liquid diet for 2 weeks then 3 weeks of soft and puréed foods. Felt more human today because I had some tomato soup! Feeling pretty good but still dealing with gas and irregularity, probably from the whey protein shakes. I am looking forward to being able to sleep on my side again. Over 30 lbs down since the 2 week pre-op protein diet!
  12. i am not ready for puréed foods yet but my nutritionist recommended a heart healthy tomato soup with unflavored Unjury protein powder added. If you try it let me know how it goes? Good luck
  13. Had my surgery on 12/18. Feeling pretty good today. I must admit that for a brief moment while in the hospital, I was like, 'what was I thinking?' But feeling so good now and excited for my new life!
  14. So glad to hear you say that. My surgery is tomorrow and I am feeling really nervous. Had a friend tell me she was worried for me. Said she was afraid I wouldn't be the same person any more and that I wouldn't have the same energy.
  15. Welcome Sheila, my surgery is Wednesday. I will be thinking of you tomorrow.
  16. I am only on the pre-op liquid protein diet , day 11 and i can't remember menstrual cramps like this! A hot water bottle helps.

  22. It can be scary once the date is set. I still get butterflies sometimes but this holiday season we are giving ourselves and those we love an incredible gift for a healthier life.
  23. Thank you for your words. I feel better everyday about my decision. I can't believe how much weight I am losing during this pre-op time. Barely any hunger and it is good practice! I am feeling really clear headed and calm.
