If u bought it recently and it is jot the batteries .return to the store u bought it. Exchange for a different brand. I would be frustrated also if my scale fluctuated.

Most people are afraid before the surgery. Of course, you are having surgery and surgery has its own risk and it is scary. But stay positive. keep yourself busy..idle mind is dangerous. :} I had the same concerns as you. Especially with this surgery. I am going to be a success with the sleeve, etc etc etc.
But it seems as though your gut is telling you (like me )..this must be done. Think of it this way..at our weight prior to surgery or a pre op diet. We were at danger with our health..so what is worse..getting a tool to help you get healthier or stay unhealthy and still be in danger.. Do the best you can on your pre op diet..prepare for surgery to ensure you have the necessary things in your house for after surgery..It will here before you know it. Wishing you the best and keep us updated on your progress. Logging on to this website often will be helpful and motivational.

I can't wait for my BMI to be under 30..I am so close. Guess I can be called overweight and not obese at this point :} I am happy with my weight loss and looking forward to losing the extra 32 pounds. It may take more time. But as long as I keep true to myself ..I will get there. Going to St. Lucia for spring break at the Sandals Resort. I plan on exercising by hiking, using their fitness room, and walking on the beach ..I am seeing my pysch and nut this Tuesday so that they can guide me on how to handle the food aspect of staying at an all inclusive resort. Of course, I don't like liquor or wine..so at least that is on my side.

Billie 70. yes it is called the 3 week stall :} it is very common so we named it such. Just keep following your eating protocol. Your weight will move. Your body is adjusting to the surgery and low calorie intake ..Once your dr. releases you to exercise..my suggestion is to start..it will def help you with weight loss. Just keep on doing what u are doing. and btw the post above ..just ignore it. We don't need
sarcasm on this web site. especially when we are helping
newbies. Let us know if you have further questions.

Carlotta1 reacted to FitnFabfor2014 in how do I cook for me and my son
Hi, that was one of my main concerns when I got sleeved. I started off just making my son something and I would eat something else. That stopped real quick. My son is a 240 pound football player in high school, so I had to start getting creative so we can eat together. We both love vegetables, so I do stir fried with grilled chicken strips from costco (he has rice, I don't) I use lean turkey and make spaghetti (I just don't eat the noodles) and frozen Turkey meatballs are amazing. Unfortunately my son is so sick of chicken he won't touch it whole, but if I shred it and make burritos or quesadillas he will chow down. Then I just eat shredded chicken and pinto Beans.
I don't spend a lot of time in the kitchen during the week, I just don't have the time or energy (the weekends are much better), but every day I am learning new cooking ideas. There is a book called The Weightloss Surgery Cookbook for dummies. It has recipes ideas for everyone (so you don't have to cook separate meals for everyone in the house). Good luck on your journey.

Get it out your home immediately...your junk food. For a while eat only at home so that u can get to the basics. Eat Protein first.. Measure your food. And drink tons of Water. . Limit carb intake. Taking in too much carbs triggers me to want sweets.. Etc. You have come so far ..please don't jeopardize yourself.
You know what to do. Just start doing it. .

Carlotta1 got a reaction from Mississippi Girl in How do you stop eating before becoming over full if you weren't hungry to begin with?
I agree with 1DAY..eating 1 meal a day is not a good idea in my opinion.
Once u start eating reg food at 6 weeks out..you need to listen to your body. I can tell I have enough without eating too much. This is what the nut advised I should do: eat 1/2 cup of food, Protein first, veggies second, then if room for carb., eat these as well. I can tell u that when I eat my protein first I get full really fast.. How I can tell..my stomach starts to gurgle a lot , sometimes I get hiccups, and tasking another bite is not appeasing for me. U have to learn to listen to your body. Before I had surgery..I lost the feeling of fullness no matter what I ate, now it is different..which is great.

I do have a small piece of pizza ..not often. Maybe once a month. As u go through the months with your sleeve. You will find that you do. Not have the hunger pangs as before. I got full very fast. Especially when I eat my Protein first. Also my obsession with food has diminished a lot. I was always hungry before the surgery and never felt full even though I would binge on 2000 calories in a short time. It is so different nice. Now head hunger, I do get sometimes when I exhaust myself, don't get enough rest, and feel anxiety. But now I listen to my body.. When I feel hungry..i check with my body and I know it is not physical hunger most if the tine. . But not head hunger. . So I do what I have to do to relieve my head hunger .. My partying job does cause me to get anxious at times.. When I feel like that, I go my sugar free Popsicle .i sit down and rest , and I am fine. !!!!!!!! It is all good.

Just had my surgery done on Feb 24th. I also had similar feelings before my surgery but I then I remembered my obesity is killing me anyways, a slow death. When I get older I can be put in a nursing home, diabetic with arthritis and who knows what else! A burden to my family and friends. It's normal to be nervous, worry about long term effects. It's been a tough few weeks but I still don't regret it. I was going down a wrong path, I needed help and decided to change. I lost 10 lbs on the pre op diet, then I lost 12 lbs my first week after surgery. I am already building back up my self confidence I know in a couple of months I will be sexy again... Hahaha
Btw I was on my period the day of my surgery. It's not a big deal, your nurses will be great!
    Good luck

I had the lap band 7 years ago. My lapband never worked for me. I never had the sensation of fullness. In Dec , 2013 I had the sleeve and what a difference. For me, I can feel the fullness with only eating a little. My esophagus did stretch with the lapband ..but I was told it will reduce in time. The sleeve did for me what the lapband could not. So I am a happy camper.

It is normal to be scared. I was before the surgery and I backed out several timers before having the surgery. But my gut ( ha) told me I need do this for me. I would suggest that you go to a hospital that is certified as a Center of Excellence. Go to the meetings that the hospital provides on wls , usually once a month, and speak to those who have had the surgery. How they felt about the dr that did the surgery, how was he recommended, what issues they had after surgery.
I have no regrets with the surgery. The hospital, where I had my surgery actually gave me a huge binder with so much info for pre and post op. The eating phases was spelled out in detail . That is important..that u have post op support through your hospital. At least is was for me. Keep us posted on your journey to having this surgery.

There is no need for defensiveness. We are only expressing our humblle opinions which is what newbies want. They will eventually make their own intelligent decisions. Can u imagine what harm we are giving newbies when they get on this website for the first time and see arguments and defensiveness. That would have been a big turnoff for moi. We are here to help and I think the newbies are smart enough to know that what we say are our own experiences. They can take or not take what we say. This is not a winning contest as to what surgery is "right".
Let us be positive. Let us empower those who are struggling with obesity. I for one have leaned on this website pre and post op, Like the sleeve, this website has give me hope, strength and success. We want that for everyone.
It is all good. Now let us move on to helping others. Amen.

For my personal weight loss journey..I had the band..did not work for me..had the sleeve and I have lost 42 pounds thus far.. My other siblings had the band and it also did not work. The sleeve really has reduced my hunger..however, I do see members on this website successful with the band. The final decision is up to you. Go to a reputable dr that is in a center of excellence environment. Talk to him about your situation ..Your expectations, risks, etc. Then make an informative decision that is best for you. I personally don't like statistics to drive me in making a decision. Talk to different people about their chosen weight loss surgery. To me ..weight loss success has to do with comimitment , determination and perserence to get healthy and stay healthy. These surgeries are tools to get there.
