vitiamins
I did a full comparison, and then talked to and showed my surgeon. The one that has everything needed and compared closest is the Centrum chewables. This has all the vitamins and the iron needed for bariatric patients, and it costs much less!!

Celebrate Vitamin chews...you can have them.....
You're very much welcome!!! Please let me know how you make out with your new Vitamins, and what you decide on with the Nascobal...I've been using it as well as the new vitamins for about 6 weeks now, and it's been working out great!!

Celebrate Vitamin chews...you can have them.....
wablue31, The number for ProCare RX is (800) 662-0586. How it worked for me is my surgeon sent them the info for the prescription, they sent my insurance info, and the promise is the most they can charge for filling the prescription is $25. They will FedEx to your home a month's supply of the Nascobal, chewable Vitamins, chewable calcium, and chewable Iron. This one stop shop covers all I need each month, I have at least one less Vitamin to take, the nasal spray is completely harmless, and I can stop it at any time. Wish you the best with everything!!

Can't stop losing!
I'm thinking that your goal weight may be a little too high, so that may be why you're still losing...it's still a very healthy thing, though. This is my biggest concern as well, that I'll hit my goal weight and then keep losing. After talking to the nutritionist and doing even more research, research shows that once you hit your healthy goal weight, your body will tell you that you need more calories and things will level off. You'll be more hungry, and your weight loss will slow down and finally stop. Congratulations on your success...you look really good!!

Celebrate Vitamin chews...you can have them.....
That bad, huh??? I ordered stuff from Bariatric Advantage...never had their chewable Vitamins, but the calcium chews are very good...the square ones That come in the 4 different flavors are good. Not sure if your doc has you on B12 vitamins, but there's this new thing called Nascobal that my surgeon introduced me to. It's a nasal spray that you use once a week, and it's covered by insurance. Through mail order from ProCare Rx, they send you the Nascobal, calcium chews, vitamins, and Iron chews all for $25. They all taste pretty good. If you're interested, I can send you more info.

Just got aproval!
I would suggest that you keep checking this site as often as you can...this helped me a great deal! Mostly because you will find many people at many stages of the journey, and all will have good advice as they share their journey with everyone else. For starters, one bit of advice I can give is please don't continually compare your progress to everyone else's...I know it's easier said than done, but please try to avoid this. We are all all individuals who progress differently, and weight loss is not at all a competition, but a healthy journey that 'YOU' will do great in!!!

Trying to change habits pre-surgery is proving hard for me
It really IS hard at t he beginning...the reason why you're told to do this now is so you won't be in such a shock post-op, when these changes will be a way of life...trust me, once you reach post-op, you'll appreciate the trouble you're going through now. Once you are post-op and have no choice but to adopt these new habits, you'll simply be practicing what you've learned. If you're like most of us, you WILL slip into your old habits every now and then, and then you'll see why you can't because you'll feel the results. Then after awhile when you start losing and seeing the 'fruits of your labor' so-to-speak, you'll see that everything you're doing and going through will all be worth it in the end!!!

How often do you step on the scale?
I was sleeved on 1/27/2014, and I used to weigh myself every single day, from the day I got home from the hospital. At first it was nice, because I did see a difference every day, even if it was a few tenths of a pound! But then my weight started to fluctuate, and it started driving me absolutely insane to the point where I was starting to even be afraid to eat what little I could!! Finally after a session or two with my nutritionist, as well as paying even more attention to inches and shrinking clothing sizes, I then made a more strict effort to weigh myself weekly...although every once in awhile I may sneak on the scale mid-week. The one pattern I seemed to find is I always weighed the least on Mondays, and I ALWAYS seem to gain a little bit between Monday and Tuesday...not sure why!!! I hope this helps, and if anyone has any questions or anything, I am more than willing to share what knowledge and experience I have...and always looking to be friended if you like!!

African American Sleevers
I went back to work in less than week, and I was fine with everything. I think as long as you can get along without the pain meds, you should be good. Most people I know are off the serious pains meds within the first few days. Also you're encouraged to do alot of walking once the surgery is over, so you wouldn't want to stay still for too long right after surgery anyway. I think you should be good.

Do you think your life would have been better or worse without WLS?
Honestly...I truly think I would have been history by now. I was getting worse and worse, and everything I tried was failing. Every time I went to the doctor, she found something new wrong with me, and everything was weight-related, including being pre-diabetic. Now that I have been losing, every single issue has either improved or gone away completely, so this decision I really think has not only been a life-changing one, but I life-saving one as well!!!

Did you have to have an endoscopy so many months after VSG?
My endocrinologist asked me to do this when I'm 6 months out, but i think this is for something other than the surgery. Although he knows about the surgery, I'm not sure if I'm in a rush to have him or anyone else poking around in there until I'm 100% comfortable that everything is fully healed and functioning fine, and I'm thinking that 6 months out may be sufficient. My surgeon only mentioned having an endoscopy done if he has reason to believe there are issues, but I guess this is something that each surgeon handles differently.

Nasal B12
I'm currently using the Nascobal now, and my surgeon told me about this plan called ProCareRX which will ship to you a month's supply of the Nascobal, as well as a month's supply of their chewable Multivitamins, their Calcium chews, and chewable Iron pills (if needed), and with insurance coverage I only pay $25 a month. This works out great for me, since it's a one stop shop and covers everything I need post-op! I like the nasal spray, and all the chewable Vitamins actually taste pretty good!!

Read this and share! Should be fun!
One thing I thought was kinda weird was before I went shopping for some smaller outfits, one of my co-workers walked up to me and said 'You look like you have on your Dad's clothes', and then simply walked away!! I wasn't sure if should take it as a compliment, an insult, or him just making fun!!

Onederland .. :-)
Congrats!!! Hitting that milestone is truly a great feeling!!!

Any Jersey Sleevers?
My birthday is June 19th...can't go wrong with that date!!! LOL!!! Seriously though, I do wish you the very best of everything, and it'll be great to see you on the loser's side!!

Fruit anyone?
I was told to stay away from dried fruits because of their condensed high sugar content. But depending on how far out you are from your surgery, you should be careful about the skin of fruits like apples, pears, etc...if you're very early out of surgery, I'm told this could get caught in the staples. Be sure to chew or blend thoroughly. If you're at least 3 to 4 months out, you should be fully healed and can have just about any fruit, but just keep track of the calories and the carbs.

How did you first learn about weight loss surgery?
I was very much interested in going the path of WLS, but was a bit nervous about the 'fear of surgery' aspect of it. Once I thought more about the benefits than the fear, I started doing a great deal of research on it. I then made an appointment with my primary doctor to discuss the issue. She never suggested it to me, but when I asked about it, she was definitely on board with the idea, and helped my get the ball rolling!!! Not sure if she simply was not allowed to or what, but when I presented the idea and she was sure I was serious about it, she was extremely helpful and supportive!!! She helped me along the way, and now with all the benefits I'm seeing from it (stabilized blood pressure, lowered blood sugar, no signs of arthritis in the knees), my only regret is I wish I had done it all sooner!!!

VSG success-vets, how do you stop losing weight?
This is a very big concern of mine!! When I reach my goal, I want to stop losing...but at the same time, I don't want to regain and undo everything I've done!! I would also like to tone and regain some of the muscle that I've lost, so I'm not sure if I'm asking too much when I'm looking for this happy medium!! There's a lot of great ideas in this particular post, so thanks very much for this...very much appreciated!!

2 DAYS TO MEET WITH SURGEON
So how did things go with the surgeon?? Still going for the sleeve? I originally was going for the lap-band, but thought it was too much trouble with the back and forth fills and all...and my primary thought the bypass was too drastic, so I went with the sleeve...it's working out great for me now!! Wish you the best, tammie30...keep us posted!!

African American Sleevers
Oh yeah...had it for awhile! Gas-X helps a great deal...I ended up buying the bigger box of it from BJ's (if you have one around you). Taking one or two pills with meals does help alot...also it does get better and much less frequent as time goes by. Also the slower you eat, the less you get the reflux.

2 days post op.
I was sent home with a pain med prescription..I used the pain meds for 3 days, and didn't need anything after that, including any over-the-counter pain meds.

African American Sleevers
You may want to try something like sugar-free puddings or applesauce if you need something to satisfy the sweet taste. A far as foods, you can mix a little broth with mashed potatoes...just not too much, since you want to watch the starch intake. My nutritionist had me try black beans pureed, but that was pretty nasty!!! However it did give me some ideas to try...like chicken with a little broth pureed was good. Try some of the good-for-you foods that you like, add a little liquid, chop them up and try them.
