  1. Same as Bronco0605, my nutritionist told me you should spread out the protien intake throughout the day, for more efficient absorption.
  2. FMLA stands for Family Medical Leave Act...this, when approved, pretty much allows you time off from your job for medical reasons involving you or a family member without risking you losing your job.
  3. Sassy Pants1 is right...the EGD is not that big of a deal...you'll do fine. As far as nerves, I think we all have initial doubts...no matter how much research you do, there's always a little apprehension about 'the unknown'. As long as you're doing what you're doing for the right reason, you should be good! I'm waiting on my surgery date, and the only thing I'm nervous about right now is the procedure itself, and how 'gassy' I'll be immediately afterwards! Oh and for the record...most likely the last appointment with the NUT will not be the last...they will be an important part of your post-op.
  4. Welcome to the journey!! It may get a bit tedious, but I'm sure it will al be worth it in the end! My suggestion to you is just stay organized and take notes...you'll be receiving alot of very vauable informaton along the way. It gets kind of exciting, actually! I just got my insurance approval yesterday, and now waiting to be scheduled for surgery...so looking forward to getting the surgery over with, to work on the new 'ME'!! Again, I wish you the very best with everything!! I know you'll do great!!
  5. Hey ShayLove...keep us posted. Let us know when you get your approval!
  6. My job gives an allotment of sick days. I plan to use sick days and then vacation days if needed. I spoke to our HR Rep, and this is allowed.
  7. Congrats on gettng through the prelim stuff....hopefully you'll hear something very soon!! I just got my approval today, and it's such a relief when you get that call!! Now I'm just waiting for the surgery date. My surgeon is taking the first two weeks of the year off, so I know it won't happen until sometime after that. Congrats again, and I wish you the very best!!
  8. I think it's not only a wonderful decision but a wonderful opportunity!! And as far as 'cheating', I think the only thing you're cheating is cheating death!! This decision along with your dedication will only do very great things for you!! Congrats, and I wish you nothing but the best in your journey!!
  9. Very frustrating!!! I was submitted on 11/5/2013, and still waiting for a decision!! I've been calling the surgeon's office, and they keep telling me that they answered all their questions, and providied all requested information to Aetna. I call Aetna, and they told me 'we are working on your case as we speak, and will have a decision for you by the end of the day'...I was told the EXACT SAME THING every other day from 11/13 until 12/4, when all of a sudden I'm told my case was 'moved from team 1 to team 2' and they haven't looked at it yet!!! Now according to them, my case is now at the bottom of the pile again!!! My original surgery date WAS 11/21. Trying not to let frustration and discouragement get the best of me, but it's getting more and more difficult!!! I have no idea why I would be denied...I have a BMI of 47, with high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and borderline diabetes...but of course the only thing I can do is wait.
  10. Congrats!!! I wish you the very best in getting to the next goal!!! As for me, my frustration level is soaring...waiting for approval from Aetna!! Original surgery date was 11/21, but of course it's been postponed to...whenever!! Again, congrats!! I'm sure you'll get that next goal in no time!
