  1. Finally slept on my stomach last night, but getting up was an adventure. I was like a turtle.

  2. 3rd weight goal met in 16 days - 275! Those 25 lb increments seemed like reasonable mini-goals.

  3. Just heard a horror story from a coworker about a friend who ate so much she "burst her stomach and it couldn't be fixed" a year after surgery. I call BS, but a little part of me wonders if it can happen!

burst her stomach?!?! doubtful, highly doubtful...

Right! I can't imagine anything worse than hurling that far out.

  4. Cheese is hard to barf up. Won't be trying that again for a while. It's been a tough day.

      haleytrim

Sorry to hear that. I had trouble with cheese the first time so haven't tried again, but will sometime.

Thanks! The whole thing was oddly gentle, like my stomach just sort of said, "Excuse me, miss, I'd like to return this." At least it was good going down, lol!

I use a tiny bit of shredded cheese. Usually mix it in my eggs.

  5. Lesson learned: take vitamins BEFORE eating. Calcium supplement just pushed me over the edge and now I feel like crap.

  6. I seem to already be stalling - no movement in a few days - but today I feel really really good and got into a couple of shirts I couldn't wear 2 weeks ago. I'm not worried in the slightest!

  7. My mouth tastes like wet dog. Vitamins? Protein? Ketosis? Beats me, but it's gross.

    1. BeagleLover

      BeagleLover

It might be ketosis. My husband had terrible breath when he was on the Atkins diet. The Atkins diet minimizes carbs too.

Even though I am closing in on my first year post-op, I have not been feeling too swift for several days, now.......drinking water only and eating applesauce and broth. Guess what? The horsebreath is back in spite of mints and toothpaste. Has to be ketosis again.

It's good to know I'm not crazy! So gross :)

  8. I'm only counting the doctor's scales as official so not updating ticker, but this morning my home scale showed me down 22 pounds. I'm 10 days out. Wow.

      That's what I did too. Never a disappointment! :)

Yes! I think I'm going to pop the batteries out of my home scale and just ride this particular high out as far as I can, lol

  9. to quote every other new sleever: THIS SUCKS

  10. My youngest brother had a heart attack. If that doesn't clear up any doubts about getting this done, I don't know what will.

      BeagleLover

Sounds like he was pretty heavy(?)

    2. roundisashape

      roundisashape

Not super heavy, but he had other bad habits and we have a strong family history. I just know now how important it is to take care of myself so I don't head down the same track!

  11. Crystal Light doesn't suck. I feel like it used to. Sorry I waited so long to try it again!

    1. barbb3

      barbb3

I mainly use the lemonade crystal light. Do you have a favorite?

    2. roundisashape

      roundisashape

So far, definitely the lemonade. I remember it used to have a weird aftertaste, but now it tastes like lemonade flavored kool-aid.

  12. 6 days left, and my list of to-do's is growing. If I die, I'm going to die with a dirty house.

      roundisashape

LOL! That actually sounds like a good idea. I think it's going to be my 50 pound reward :)

I have a little longer, my surgery is December 10th. I am doing the same thing with trying to clean out closets and the laundry room and get rid of all the junk and clutter my family has horded. It feels metaphoric to losing the extra weight my body has been carrying around. I have a tendency to get a little OCD with my cleaning lists. I like the idea of hiring someone for the cleaning, but December is not a month with anything extra in the budget. I think we need to give ourselves a little grace and be happy with what we are able to accomplish. I wish you the best in your endeavors!

Yeah, that's a good point - I'm kind of at the stage where I've accepted that I still have to go to work tomorrow, and other than changing my sheets what's done is about all that is going to get done :). Thank you for the good wishes, and I wish you the best right back! :)

Yes, breathing is a great place to start....literally. There are many breathing/relaxation and surgery preparation FREE videos out there on-line. I used them and did great with my stress/anxiety. I still use some of the exercises for managing mindful eating. Breathing Is Good!

Best Wishes and remember to keep us posted..

  16. T-18, and I want to run around and scream like a velociraptor. I'm so psyched up right now.

  17. Up all night supporting a customer upgrade. Soo tired. Want to eat everything in the house. Maybe even the walls.

  18. TMI, but I think all the protein shakes are making my farts smell like a dead raccoon in a heatwave.

  19. I'm an idiot. I need to stop watching surgery videos online. They're making me all panicky.

    1. Kpar909956

      Kpar909956

I watched the video before and felt much better once I saw it. I Watched the sleeve video. I was very nervous to the point of getting my will in order. Everything will be fine. there is such a low risk compared to other surgeries. You will be on the road to recovery real soon. Hang in there

      roundisashape

Thank you! I think it's the part where they shove the instruments through that bothers me, lol.

  20. More scared of the IV than the surgery. It's really on my mind. Is that crazy or what?

    1. Packerfan61964

      Packerfan61964

I think that I am more scared of the anesthesia than an IV!!

    2. gbb77901

      gbb77901

ask for a painkiller shot before the IV!

    3. roundisashape

      roundisashape

I'd be cool with the anesthesia if they could gas me, lol. And I had no idea the shot before the IV was even an option!

  21. I wish there was a software program that would show us what we're going to look like!

    1. haleytrim

      haleytrim

There is sort of. Google "weight loss avatar". It will show you several different programs.

It's fun to take pictures of yourself during the journey also. You would be surprised what a difference you can see in a month. Its fun to look back over the last 16 months
