  1. Just found out I can't have kids. Miss food so much right now. I almost regret surgery because I really want to curl up in a dark room and binge until I pop.

      (((((((BIG HUG)))))))

so sorry to hear your news but both MissMAc and OKC had some great options to consider down the road....

Thanks, everyone. I'm doing the m&m wallow today, and vowing to pull myself out of the dumps and start figuring out what I want to actually DO about it tomorrow. We already started talking possible donor eggs, but I'm going to a fertility center in the area to find out more about maybe how much time I have left to decide while that's still a viable option.

Good luck young lady, this isn't easy and requires the same dedication you brought into this surgery. The advancements in this area of medicine are staggering. The last time I did a legislative project on this was 10 years ago, my GF showed me how much advancement has been made since then.

  2. Stalled for a couple of months, but people are commenting on body changes and I got into a smaller size the other day. My jeans are all getting too big. So weird the way our bodies work!

Being awesome does that to you, just sayin' ! ☺Congrats !

  3. Anyone know anything about MCT oil powders? Or the Truenutrition brand that lets you mix your own protein stuff? I've been reading and thought about going 95% whey / 5% MCT in a protein blend, but haven't found much anecdotal information about people trying it post WLS

    1. OutsideMatchInside

      OutsideMatchInside

I have never used a powder, only liquid, sorry.

    2. roundisashape

      roundisashape

Did the liquid seem to make any difference for you - either for weight loss, energy, metabolic stuff? I went ahead and ordered a 90/10 whey to MCT blend and am going to give it a try.

  4. Finished the Ugly Sweater 5k in less than an hour with dilly-dallying at the hot chocolate station to take pictures of inflatable reindeer. There was a time I would have had to push to my limits and taken over 2 hours...

Way to go! My 12s are baggy so sometime in the next week or two I am going to try some 10s! I hope they fit!

      roundisashape

Thanks! Yeah, I left them at the store, but not before I thought I was going to have to ask for help, lol. My birthday is in about 5 weeks, I'm aiming to make those my "snug" jeans then :)

  6. Intrigued by, but afraid of, the calcium patch...that's the one supplement I have trouble remembering through the day and I'd love to be able to slap a patch on and call it done.

    1. WLSResources/ClothingExch

      WLSResources/ClothingExch

Haven't heard of the patch. I'd be uncomfortable about it, too. I place two of my chews next to the pill box with all the rest and have never forget to take the morning and evening doses. Maybe that would help you remember? (That mine are like tiny tootsie rolls just may have something to do with remembering.)

    2. roundisashape

      roundisashape

Right! I like mine (I got orange ones, they taste like starburst, lol) it's just the timing when I get wrapped up in something at work. Sometimes I don't even hear the alarms I've set.

  7. Is jerky cooked or just dried? I want to try it, but my brain thinks it's raw meat and I just can't.

    1. katladee

      katladee

I believe the drying process in the heat actually cooks it so to speak.

    2. pink dahlia

      pink dahlia

I just read my package of Oberto All Natural Teriyaki Beef Jerky, it says "minimaly processed" . They can't sell raw meat in a package like that, it has to be edible right out of the package, so its not "raw meat ." It really good, high in protein, a good portable snack. I also like Oberto Turkey Jerky, taste very mild, you might start with that one !

  8. I don't know what the heck I ate that wasn't right, but this is the worst gas I've had since surgery almost 10 months ago. Feel like I should tie my ankle to the chair so I don't float off, lol.

      ProudGrammy

you are sooo close to those #lbs - you have come a long way!!! "God Grant Me Patience, Just Hurry Up About It!" LOL

It IS some crazy programming! It's also funny how, when you start losing weight, people who don't know what you're doing all of a sudden crawl out of the woodwork and try to sell you diet aids. There's no better diet aid than cutting out 80% of your stomach, lol.

    4. Djmohr

      Djmohr

I still find it funny how every time I see an ad for some new diet miracle I find myself watching it and literally thinking I wonder if that works! LOL I think that was one of my worst bad habits, falling for a the crappy diet fads that did not work long term. Good job staying away!

  16. I'm getting bony feet - I kinda like it :). Now if only my hands would follow suit!

    1. MrsSugarbabe

      MrsSugarbabe

I had success been in a relationship for over 3 years and we REALLY took our time getting to know each other, which I love. Yes there were plenty hit and misses. Just be sure to be very selective, listen, have lots of convo and watch out for any warning signs. Don't settle, don't rush & have fun.

    3. MrsSugarbabe

      MrsSugarbabe

Good luck! I met my hubby on eHarmony in 2003....big smile! Peas in a pod. I was 46 then. We got married just before my 47th birthday. The site has changed some now, but I liked the way the site worked. I agree with @lisaanewme67 about being selective, don't settle, don't rush, have lots of conversation, WATCH FOR WARNING SIGNS/FLAGS, and Have Fun. Remember: Not every date has to turn into a relationship. And, something someone told me many, many years ago.....don't date someone you wouldn't marry.

So far, one super nice guy that I'm sad to not be attracted to (he's THAT nice), one that has a job and makes me laugh so he sounds pretty promising, and one creeper that "has a good feeling about me"...and so does his kid. That seems pretty aggressive, lol.

maybe they high with oil on them before grilling.

    3. roundisashape

      roundisashape

I was just shocked when I got home - I thought an ear of corn and a few grilled shrimp was a decent enough choice at my brother's father's day dinner last night - yikes! Gowalking, that might be it - they came with a cup of some sort of flavored butter. I gave it to my niece for her potatoes, so maybe that's where all the calories came from.

    4. ShrinkingPeach

      ShrinkingPeach

That was most likely it, the butter. Corn is very high in sugar as well so be careful with that.

    4. sweetie716

      sweetie716

I love tracking the obesity "classes." I'm working on my next goal of 180 right now, which would mean "overweight" 8 pounds to go :)

  20. OMG, *really* sleevezilla? Plain chicken, carrots, and cucumbers have been FINE for lunch all week. Today? She's projectile rejecting them.

    1. MrsSugarbabe

      MrsSugarbabe

Uh oh! That's no kind of fun. Maybe too much too fast?

  21. Just realized my "skinny jeans" look like I'm wearing a loaded diaper. I can't complain about stuff getting too big! :)

  22. When I was a teenager, I worked for an ice cream store. They used to make us weigh our scoops at least once per shift since our portions tend to "creep" as the day goes on. I've noticed the same thing with my meals now - the scale and the measuring cups are my friends!

    1. MrsSugarbabe

      MrsSugarbabe

Yes, I would say my portions have been creeping some. Thanks for the reminder :)

  23. Logging a visit to the salad bar in MFP is a pain in the butt.

    1. ShrinkingPeach

      ShrinkingPeach

Agreed, anything with lots of components is a pain. In the end it will be worth it!

    2. LisaLouBop

      LisaLouBop

Yes, but you can make it into a meal on MFP and just enter the meal the next time. I typically eat the same thing from most salad bars I go to.

  24. Wanna hear something funny? Put in earbuds, turn the music off, and listen to your sleeve digest lunch. There's some crazy stuff happening in there, lol.

    1. MrsSugarbabe

      MrsSugarbabe

LOL!!! Know what you mean! I don't need earbuds to hear my tummy noises :) They're loud enough for others to hear, too. Keeps the day interesting. My hubby just gives me a funny look when the noises start right after supper. During the day, I'm usually the only one at work who has the pleasure of hearing my tummy noises.

  25. what on earth do restaurants do to grilled chicken to make it make me sick?

    1. Show previous comments  1 more
    2. roundisashape

      roundisashape

Must be - I try to make healthy choices when I go out but it's almost guaranteed to come back. Oddly, fried with the breading pulled off doesn't usually bother me. I wonder how much grease soaks into fried chicken when any breading or skin is pulled off?

    3. ShrinkingPeach

      ShrinkingPeach

I would imagine that when its skinless and grilled they brush it with oil, or its marinated. The breading may absorb the majority of the oil when its fried. If you have issues with restaurant chicken maybe get fish?

    4. roundisashape

      roundisashape

Shrimp seems pretty reliable so far - I haven't tried fish out anywhere yet. It just seemed crazy to me that the allegedly healthiest thing on the menu aside from undressed lettuce is the one thing that makes me sick!
