This isn’t the black and white issue that people are making it out to be. Honesty we can’t know enough about your situation.

But here are some more thoughts, take what works for you.

How long have you been together? Is this a new thing for him to notice boobs? Did you used to have boobs and he misses them after you lost weight? What’s the rest of your relationship like?

I used to have ENORMOUS boobs. Like 44G or something at my highest, I never really wore the right size. Even when I was younger and just “chubby” not morbidly obese I was like 40DDD at least. My hubby has always been a boob man.

Flash forward to post WLS I wear a size 4 and was rolling up my deflated tube sock boobs into my bra.

Left to my own devices when I got my plastics I would have embraced a B/C cup. But after 22+ years of marriage i knew his preference matters to me. So I got implants with my lift. Would I have done it if I hadn’t already been getting surgery? Honestly probably yes. Would I have gotten them if I hated the idea just for him, no.

But like all things in a long term relationship, it’s about give and take, compromise, love, etc. Thats one that mattered to him more than it did to me, so it was my gift to him.

So yeah, I won’t keep cheezits in the House for him, but I will get implants. Ha! That is marriage for you.

See to each his own I can’t stand the Protein pasta.... BUT I love the banza chickpea Pasta and the Explore Asian edamame Pasta (at Costco).

But I never liked Premier Protein either.

Love the whips Greek yogurt too though that’s a big winner!  And the Flapjacked  Mighty Muffins, but I didn’t add those in till I was at goal bc the carb count is way high.

Kirkland the costco brand makes a Protein Bar that’s even better than the Quest bars!

chicken salad. Skinless grilled chicken breast, one small one (I often cheat and buy the precooked Trader Joe’s ones), 1 T mayo, 1/2 cup red grapes, about 2 T green onions and 1 T slivered almonds). Before and after and I will eat the rest later.

    If you can’t tell,
I still have a lot of restriction still at 5 years out if I’m not eating sliders or drinking my calories (hi Starbucks, waving at you! And I don’t even do anything with sugar!)

I have to have 5-6 small meals in a day to get in everything I need. And that’s also why I still rely on Protein Shakes a lot. I probably could meet my goals without them, but I just don’t want to put in that much effort every single day. So I have a scoop of Protein powder more days than not—in a shake, in my oatmeal, in a Mug Cake, made into a pancake....

I’m gonna agree with this. Honestly I would LOVE to be able to say it’s grit and “working my tool” that’s allowed me to maintain a 135+ lb for five years... but I think it WORKED for me. Yeah I could eat junk but i honestly don’t want to the way I did before. Yeah, I work at it, but not the way I did before, only to regain. One day we will know which surgeries (or other therapies) work for whom and why... but the sleeve WORKED for me. I am, dare I say it... normal in a way I never was. I’m like any woman pushing 50 who needs to be careful, but not like before.

Re insurance—read your policy. Many exclude it completely, some have specific requirements like pannus/apron must hang below pubic bone or must remove 500g volume of breast.

    1. How much is whole body? Arms? Thighs? Breasts? Tummy Tuck or circumferential lift? Probably not. I had more done at one time than most and I got arms breasts and tummy tuck. Most surgeons I spoke to said only two areas at a time. A few Mexican surgeons will do even more at a time but it’s limited by time spent under anesthesia safely. If they will do twilight sedation or have two surgeons working together that can help. But also think recovery. Can you get around and function while healing?

    2. Yes. Much harder. Especially if you have any Lipo for contouring or any muscle repair or tightening.

    3. I consulted In Mexico but decided against it. For me the worry about handing things if anything went wrong scared me. Many gave great experiences and pay a fraction of the cost.

    4. Interview a number of surgeons. Look at lots of pictures of their work. You will know when you find the right one.

    5. Depends on what you mean by full body. For the three areas I did the California docs I interviewed were all in the 22-26k range. Mexico was closer to 8-12k.

    7. I recovered very quickly compared to most because I had absolutely NO lipo which is often the worst. I had muscle repair/tightening in my adominals though. I was functioning well by about two weeks out.

    7. Amazing. Life changing. My plastics were 3.5 years ago.

jess9395 reacted to BigViffer in Bone Broth and Collagen Protein
Actually, that's about the best thing that can be said about it. Collagen/gellatin is about the most common Protein there is, it's an incomplete protein that has a poor amino acid profile. Basically all of the amino acids that are at a surplus in your body already.
The only difference between the expensive collagen protein powders and Jell-O (aside from flavors) is that the Proteins have been processed further to break them down into smaller particles. Oh, and collagen won't gel. Nutritionally speaking, same thing. If you look on a box of Jell-O, it states that the FDA does not consider it a significant source of protein because of the low quality of the protein. However, since collagen is being sold as a supplement, it does not get regulated by the FDA.
I know, I was upset too after buy turmeric Bone Broth powder to use in cooking. That stuff wasn't cheap! Tasted good though.
Be aware that all of these benefits are so new they are mostly marketing speak. There was a time that cigarettes were toted as healthy!

Thank you. I’ve been searching, but have not come across this particular solution my surgeon proposes. I don’t disagree with him as it sounds viable, I am trying to do my due diligence.
    Thank all of you again.
There is an article, abstract only on line for this : “ Effects of Adding Gastrojejunostomy to Sleeve Gastrectomy on GERD, food Tolerance, and Weight Loss: A Randomized Study.”
i would be interested in opinions on this if someone reads article.

Let me rephrase that. With a sleeve the first part of the bypass is done, dissection and what not . A patient getting a bypass after a sleeve will typically be easier than a patient just getting a bypass.

Still not accurate. Bypass creates a pouch, as was said above. Sleeve does not. The statement that her doctor is just using a fancy word is inaccurate and an unfair characterization.  It’s an actual procedure.

To the OP—there are a lot of conversion patients in here. If you do a search you will see lots of discussion that might help you!

This is incorrect. The sleeve is the first half of the Duodenal Switch procedure not the bypass. They are quite different.

Sorry but I have to believe they are deluding themselves. There is just no way with a metabolism reset and keeping a nutritious diet under 1000 calories a day there is no reason you should regain that weight back.

Yes it is true for other users. Junk food is not considered a basic necessity, so there is no deprivation. I think people just like to think of the most severe word they can find and use it. At best one should feel a sense of loss at the convenience of fast/junk food.
However - in the context of this thread, people who post about regain AND eat common as dirt junk food on a regular basis deserve little empathy. IN MY OPINION. There, stating that as clearly as I can. Not stating it as fact, but as opinion.

Hence you can see a lot of regain posts with the tenor "Heeeeeelp!!!! I used to be so good with weight loss and following the rules but I fell off the wagon!!!!"

I don't know if it's really "all in your hands". I doubt it. WLS is a (surgical) therapy. Like all therapies it doesn't have a 100% success rate. There will always be people who have better outcomes or worse outcomes than others. I know people don't like to hear this: but as with any other therapy there is quite a bit of luck involved how your body and mind react to this surgical therapy.
There is work to do of course and how good your are at doing this work, depends on a lot things. And some people simply don't need to work as hard as others. Remember high school or college? I bet anyone on this board here had a classmate who didn't have to study hard to get good grades while others had to struggle hard to get even decent grades. Same with WLS. Some have to work harder to get the same results while others just fly by on less effort.

I agree whole heartily. I just don't think that skipping the crappy fast food, snack chips & cakes counts as deprivation. If one is going to eat unhealthy or off diet, then at least make it something worthwhile. Case in point, I had fried chicken livers today. I have it once a year on this day in a festival near by. Sure it's high in Protein and Iron, but it is also super high in fat and sodium. As much as I love them as a comfort food from my childhood - they are readily available at KFC and Lee's Chicken - I never get them except for this festival because they are just that good and it is a special treat.
I literally had my entire days worth of calories on one plate! I ate it for lunch, snack, and dinner today. (Day old liver is no bueno!) The types of people I was referencing are eating pizza, tacos or nachos, rice and Pasta, & booze all the time because they deep down believe the surgery is a magic thing that will save them. They are probably drinking calories too like you said, but that is just reinforcing what I said, people never made a lifestyle change during the honeymoon phase.
