yeah, I am starting to regret not measuring myself. I can really tell I've lost 55 lbs but most of it is in my arms and legs so I can really tell that much in my mid section. I know the next 50 will be drastic.

Bigbeaz, I get to go back to CrossFit this week, so I fully expect the scale and probably my bicep and thigh measurements to go up again. Even so, I'm glad I have a baseline and can compare. Today with the tape measurer it was the first time I could actually see a difference!

Hello friends! Today is my first day back to work and my first POST op post! Tomorrow i am 3 weeks out. My surgery went very well, my surgeon said that my liver had shrunk down nicely The walked me into the OR and when i got on the table i suddenly began to cry out of fear. The next thing i remember is waking up in recovery.
all in all i would say my recovery is going really well. I had horrible, terrible despicable gas pains for the first 2 weeks, the pains went all the way up to my shoulder and walking and gas x did not help not one bit. other than that i was only in the hospital overnight. I didnt have too much other pain, just more like discomfort and soreness. as of today i am down 28lbs so i am 229 now.
I lost 15 on the preop and 13 since the surgery. i was a little disappointed with that, but i also did just get a visit from aunt flo yesterday (TMI) so im hoping thats the issue and that i havent stalled already.

I am so thankful that I took my measurements prior to surgery. While watching the scale go down has been gratifying, I just did measurements again for the first time in 3 weeks. Since before surgery I have lost a total of 14.5 inches from everywhere…and that seems impossible.
Why is this a big deal? Because I am noooooooot quite into the next size down. Don't get me wrong; I can see that I have more room in my clothing, but actually measuring is showing me how close I am to making that move. And that gives me hope and motivation! I mean, I could squeeze into the next size down but nobody needs to see that. Now I'm happy to put those jeans back in the closet and try them on again next week.

No, no,no... I am TOTALLY happy! It's just hard when you see yourself everyday...you know? I still see the very same person in the mirror most of the times. Sometimes it takes putting the pics side by side to remind myself of how far I've come. :-)

I had my surgery on the 24th of October. I arrived at 5 am. Surgery process started at 7:30 and I was up and walking around around 1 pm. I felt really well once I woke up and was able to hold down sips of Water and watered down apple juice so they let me go home at 11 pm the same day.
As for help, my wife took 4 days off work but I really never even needed her assistance. I know everyone heals differently but I was moving well and could do everything on my own. I would suggest even if you do feel great let everyone help you as much as they want. Being pampered even if you don't really need it will help your recovery even more. Just don't forget to be up and moving, besides getting your liquids in it's one of the more important things you can do.

Could not get a full cup down . That's ok.

I am doing great. I can drink without issue and can eat 2oz of meat. I wish I could eat more, but if I do I get slimed and that sux.

My husband and I got sleeved together and I worried about taking care of each other. Turned out to not be an issue at all. We stayed in the hospital the day of, and the day after surgery when we needed the most help. After that, it was a non -issue. You need to be moving around to get things for yourself anyway.
I think you can take care of yourself just fine. But if you have pets, children etc., it might be handy to have occasional help with them.

While I haven't been on a cruise POST OP, I have recently went on a cruise and I thought about what they had. First let me say there's a TON of options!! At every restaurant they are very happy to accommodate and please their guests. All the buffets have Soups, yogurts, cottage cheese, applesauce, scrambled eggs etc. If I were in your shoes, I would pack stuff from home just in case. There will be a fridge in your room. Have so much fun!!!

I felt great. Also the 24th of October. Needed help from my friend to drive home. Stopped taking painkillers the first day home. Drove the second day. I was really up and around almost normally by a week later…but felt well enough by Sunday. I had my kids carry laundry baskets upstairs for me and take the garbage out. Little rats should do that anyway.
Have your family around if it will be nice for you. If they're not traveling a long way maybe have them on call just in case. Not everyone does as well as we did. I also had one of my friends deliver dinner one night, and that was lovely (but not necessary enough to engage the dinner chain in my town.) My family is far away, but I had let a number of people know I was having surgery. Other than giving one kid a ride the night I got home from the hospital, I didn't have to ask them for anything.

I wanted to be left alone. My loverly wife waited on me my first day home but stopped when she (finally) realized that I neither needed or wanted the extra care. PS, I am a TERRIBLE patient.

Since you're three weeks out, it could still be the gas from the operation, depending exactly where in the chest you felt it.
I know that when I got gas machine pains (plus gas pains now) I can get short of breath, unable to breath, unable to talk, unable to walk.
My anxiety and panic hasn't changed after surgery, though. Atleast, not yet, if it does change.
If I were you, I'd call about it.

Yeah I love the fact that I can pig out on a spoon full of mashed potatoes and a sliver of chicken lol. I didn't realize how much food I was eating until I compared my plates now to what my wife normally eats. And my plates used to always be twice what she could even handle. Its amazing stuff.

It'll take time for sure. I had those few days too lol. My wife told me to stop worrying about it and as soon as I did I lose 5 lbs. We just have to stay positive. I have to keep telling my self Ive lost 50lbs in 42 days and that is still amazing. But like anyone I'm still going to worry about the next pound.

DONT WORRY. I just started losing again too after a few weeks. I think I only drop 4 lb's then all of a sudden it started to come off. Your body is still adjusting and when you move into the different food stages your body have to adjust also. Just keep eating right and get some exersive and the weight will start coming off again soon.
