Getting banded Nov.29th - Bend, OR
I teach severely autistic kids so I am up and moving all of the time. I went back a week later and was just fine... a little bruised still but fine..... Don't worry. This is the best thing I have done!

New pain/left side/ 9 days post op
I experienced the exact same thing.... the Dr. told me it could be my ribs are bruised or still just gas. He told me not to worry about it and that I am going to have some weird things like that happen for the first 6 weeks after surgery that I would have thought would be healed by then... he said not to worry and take 800 mg. of motrin 3x a day(you can cut it or crush it if you need to.) and that made everything better!

Few Questions
I have not been banded long but here is what I have been told and experienced.....
-
Has this happened to you....
I don't know exactly how to explain this, but I am going to try my best. Ever since my banding (2 weeks ago), I sometimes try to swallow and it is like something stops it right in the back of my throat and I have to swallow a couple times before it finally goes down. This never happens with spit, I just sometimes get this sensation when walking or sitting.....

Somthing Happened and I almost went to the Emergency Room
I have not had this but from what I have heard that sounds like you possibly can not handle fish yet. PB is productive burping (mini pukes).

Banded Teachers Talk - BTT
I am a severe disabilities teacher in Florida. I have an all autistic classroom. All of the students in my class are non-verbal. I was really worried about going back to work b/c of the aggression that they exhibit, but it has been just fine. I am sooo thankful!

When can I exercise?
I am a week and a half out from surgery. When can I start exercising? Do I really have to wait 6 weeks?

My dr. told me that they now have "new and improved" bands. I was one of his first patients to get them. they are like 10cc's and 14 maybe. I got the 10.... I don't know if you surgion is using them yet but that is what I was told.

Back Pain
I was also banded on the 17th. I got severe back pain on the left side but it didn't happen until over a week after surgery. I called the dr. and he said it was just b/c they jerk on your ribs a little bit and they are bruised. He said take motrin (it can be cut or crushed if need be) 800mg (4 pills) 3x a day for a week. I did it and I feel perfect now!

Ladies, please help!
If you can't even wear a tampon during surgery (trust me) then I doubt you can wear that! I would take it out!

Where are you noticing it?
Just wanted to know where you all are seeing your weight loss. I finally have cheek bones again! I have also lost some of my chest (thank god) but I am not noticing it anywhere. 21lbs seems like so much, you think you would see it more. Oh yeah I am wearing my rings again!!:clap2:

Wrong band
My dr. told me that they have new and approved bands and from now on 10cc is the smallest that you can get....
-
help, feelin blue
My doctor warned me right away that I would be gaining some weight back once I went off of liquids which only make scence. I have lost 22lbs, I can see it in my face (I finally have some bone structure instead of a pumpkin) and my boobs are getting a little smaller but I haven't noticed any difference in my clothes. So don't worry about it! We will get through it!

I guess this is Bandster @*&%
From what my dr. says, this is normal! Even though we do have the band right now, the swelling has went down and we have no restriction so we can eat as we would have pre-surgery. We just have to be strong! I know I have been eating portions that are too big but I am working on it!

Please help me with protiens!!!
If you love crystal light, go to GNC. They have protein drinks there. Not as thick and in different flavors. Just make sure they are over 15g protein and under 9 g sugar!

i have some questions...
Oh I forgot to tell you, make sure you move around as much as possible after surgery. That is where the most serious part is! You don't want a clot!
-
i have some questions...
I was worried. Even sent my dad a copy of my living will. It is NOTHING to worry about. It is soooooo fast! Yes they do put a tube down your throat, but it is out b/f you wake up. My throat wasn't even that sore from it, my voice was a little scratchy..... Don' worry! You will be fine!

one week post op-starving-DOCTOR SAYS EAT
I went back for my follow-up apt. a week after surgery and told my dr. how hungry I was. He let me move to green beens and mashed potatoes early! It is heavenly! haha

My nurse made me feel like a failure and a PIG
My doctor even told me to expect to gain some weight back after I go off of the liquid diet. He said after that I won't start losing a lot of weight until I get my fills. Don't worry about it, but I would say something to the Dr.

scared of dying
I was scared also but then I started reading the chances and they are less than 1 and 100 or something like this. My doctor didn't know of anyone who had died from lap band surgery...... It will be fine!!!
