  1. I had my surgery on the 3rd of October and I am fluids and I am hungry, but it is just temporary. I am not going to get caught up in the daily or weekly "beat my self up I gained weight dance". This is why I am refusing to buy a scale. If I don't know how much I weigh then I won't freak out. I only weigh myself at my doctors. I am much happier not knowing. It will be another month until my feet hit the scale again...if I gain then I gain. Then my doctor will know he has work to do. He is the "fill" man. Throw out your scales!
  2. There is not as much restriction in your band yet, as it hasn't been filled. Your swelling probably has decreased making you feel more "normal". I feel the same way. I have to force myself to slow down and take it easy because I am still healing and everything down there is still getting settled. I found that I have a lot of protein with water. I must get my 60 grams in or I am starvin' Marvin. Good luck and remember we are all in this together.
  3. What are NSVs and will I enjoy them?
  4. My name you know, my age is 33. I live in British Columbia, Canada. I am Married to my high school sweet heart and have a beautiful daughter age 10. I am a part-time accounting student. In the picture below is my dog Simon; I am sorry about his tongue it is just to long for him to keep in his mouth. I am devoted to my family and friends. However I just recently moved to Chilliwack, BC, which is far away from where I lived previously. My exercise of choice are walking and swimming. I also love my little white 2000 Bettle...beep, beep! I have a lot of energy and I am usually go-go-go all day long. I am addicted to Starbucks! So much so that when we buy a home I make sure that Starbucks is within walking distance, or it is a no go. I love mochas! I also love Facebook.com, it keeps me in touch with old friends and new. I love to travel with my family; in a year or so we may go to Greece. (Check me out in my new bathing suit then! Boom -Chuck- Woow- Woow) I'll end by saying that I have a lot of support. My husband of 12 years loves me deeply and supports me. (And he thinks I'm sexy.) I really like myself even the way that I am now too. I am a positive roll model for my daughter; who I love very much. And I am always here for any one who needs me.
  5. Ok I have another idea... I am so proud to be a part of the TENS, and I am sure that I am not alone in my feelings. This is an awesome group of people. We discuss our diets, our accomplishments, our fears, our opps, our bands, but what do we really know about each other? We know Holly is very organized and we love her very much, and she has a cat. My idea is that we share a little about ourselves. You know where we hail from. What our interests are. If we have family. You never know some of us could be neighbors and friends. Now don't feel like you have to do this. Share as much as you like. I would like to keep "band" talk out of this thread if at all possible, this is just a place for us to hang out. I don't if it will work...but I am willing to give it a shot.
  6. Shermy58- We totally need to be buddies...this is exactly how I feel. It is so refreshing to find someone who has the same positive energy I do. I just putting it out there to anyone else too...if you feel the same way as Shermy58 and I do please PM and we can be LB buddies!
  7. Are you running a fever and then sweating it off maybe?
  8. Welcome to the LOSERS CLUB! Congratulations.
  9. Come on take those before pictures...they'll be worth money some day! Remember you are never going back there again. This is not just another diet that you are going to fail. This is the real deal. I took tons of "before" pictures (like 200- no lie) because they are who I am- right now. I am smiling in every one of them. Don't you want that "OMG moment" when you lose your weight and find your "before" pictures and see how far you come. Your not a failure, because you did something big that will change your life. Enjoy who you are at every step of this journey, because there is no going backwards.
  10. Dear Want So Bad- I am glad your feeling better! Keep burping and getting rid of that gas baby!
  11. I went to the doctor today as well and I got on the big doctor scale. The last time me and the scale had met I had weighed 245 pounds. So, I get on and I close my eyes...I hear my doctor writing on my chart...I am not going to look...I am not going to look...OMG I have to look! I slowly open my eyes not quite adjusting to the light, and look down at the number on the LED screen. 229. 229! No! Yes! No! Holy.... You get the drift. I realized that I totally missed my 30's I zoomed right passed! I didn't get to visit any number in the 30 family. I'll never see 230 EVER! Since I won't be weighing myself until November 14th...I probably won't see the 20's again either. Isn't that GOOD NEWS, because I really hated the 20's.
  12. Jena- I am sure that it is not the worse crime in lap band history. You are on day 11 after all, and it was only soup. There is very little restriction in our bands at the moment so I think you didn't do harm.
  13. Surgery and RECOVERY are a tough road. I can relate to the hiccups and burps. Man it is painful. I talked to my doctor, and he said it was no big deal. Make sure you are getting enough calories, because your body can not heal on zero calories. If you get weaker in the afternoon it probably means that you are tired. GASX did not work for me either...it was crap! The only thing that works is walking. Take care of yourself. Rest, eat, (I mean sip), and walk.
  14. I totally understand where you are coming from! Hey I might be hungry, but I have real hope that I never had before. It is our time...this is our moment. We totally deserve it! I am with you 100%!!! :clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2:
  15. I was banded on the 3rd and I totally was backed up! I used Milk of Magnesia on the advise of fellow bandsters. I TOTALLY worked! I was good because it did not cause CRAMPING or any stomach discomfort during the "act". I will never use anything else again. It did take two doses because I was so backed up.
  16. You Stopped! I know you feel depressed and scared right now, because you feeled like you failed, but you have to remember that you stopped yourself after a few bites. You could have ate the entire thing, because I am sure you were hungry enough! Give yourself a break. This is a new start...a new life. Don't go into the old habits of calling yourself "stupid", it took a lot of courage to start this journey, and it is going to take a lot of strength to see it through. You have come to the right place. I find a lot of comfort at LBT, because someone is always here to lend an ear. When ever I think about eatting I go to the before and after photos in the main forum and that takes my mind off of food. It gives me the hope and will power I need to keep going. Keep posting it helps. I hope my advice helps you.
  17. My surgery was a week ago bandages are starting to look like crap; some are half on some are half off (does that make any sense?) I have a band-aid on one of my openings. Good thing I am seeing my doctor tomorrow, because I am a mess! I think the itchy part is normal when your scabbing over. I am just SUPER impressed that you went back to work for 12 hours, and lost 18 pounds to boot!
  18. I am 7 days post-op and I feel your pain. I just grit my teeth and work through it. I spend my days getting Protein in my body, and believe me I am sick of Protein drinks. But I paid $15,000 for this band and I am not going to break it in a moment of weakness. food is just food...that is all it is. We are much stronger than food. Just get through one day at a time...remember we all can do this. Thousands of people have done this before us...it's our turn now.
  19. Yep I am banded...the hunger is not so bad, because I am keeping the protein in check. It is the bloating that I hate. I look pregnant. (walking, water, and GAS X are not even touching the bloat)
  20. I am a self-pay- it isn't my favorite thing to pay for, but I figured I got myself into this mess...I'd better get myself out of it.
  21. :opps2: So I have been cruising :car: around this website, and just throwing my two bits and smiley faces every where I pleased,:blabla: but I never went to the introductions and told you who I am. Shame, shame, shame! My name is Amy. I live Canada:canada: with my husband David and 10 year old daughter Holly. I am a part-time accounting student, and full-time "go-to-coffee-with-friends" person.:tea: Currently I took the semester off to have the lap band surgery, because I am a big baby. I got the lap band for the same reason you got (or getting) the lap band- I need to lose a boat load of weight!:fish2: I hate to change my bad eating habits, because of the hunger. Hunger makes me fail at diets. If I am not hungry I will not eat...period. If I am hungry...I WILL eat... period. It is not rocket science; the lap band will be my friend and we will work together and combat hunger. I love all of the advice and wisdom I recieve fom LBT; I don't know where I'd be without it.:frusty: (Probably rocking back and forth in my bathroom asking my husband if he thinks this normal or that is normal...what does he know abot a lapband anyway? ) So I'll see you around and I hope during my journy I not only lose weight I gain friends in the process!
  22. My doctor presribed Nexium for me...I didn't know why...I just took it. (I am such a sheep.) But now I see why. I do get a case of small burps every once in a while...
  23. Disclaimer: These are my doctor's instructions and I will not be waivering from them, but based on the feed back I receive I may talk to him on Thursday about a restructure program if necessary. I am currently on the "full Fluid diet portion" of the program which runs 10 days. I am still hungry and I wanted to know if my portions are in line with what your doctor recommended. Or are you eating the same or less and surviving...or barely hanging on. Do you think that the portions in my diet plan are reasonable...or crazy. I am basily taking a poll. Breakfast 1/4 cup of ensure lite Protein drink 1/4 cup of milk 1/4 cup of juice Mid AM Snack (choose ONE) 1/4 cup of juice or 1/4 yogurt or 1/4 cup of milk lunch 1/4 cup of strained cream Soup 1/4 cup of milk 1/4 cup of pudding or yogurt Mid PM Snack (choose ONE) 1/4 cup of ensure lite Protein Drink or or 1/4 Jell-0 dinner 1/4 cup of strained cream soup 1/4 cup of milk 1/4 cup of pudding or yogurt Eveing Snack 1/4 cup of Ensure lite protein drink To ensure I get in all my protein I can add my whey soya Protein powder to my Water that I drink through out the day to help fill me up and increase protein intake. (I hate whey soya protein powder...it taste gawd awful!!! (YUCKY!) So how much do you drink in a day? Am I just being a pig? Or is my doctor crazy? Please share your stories so we can have a talk on Thursday if we need to. I won't talk to him if all of you come back and say this is normal; I will just tough it out. Thank you in advance for your help.
  24. I have a "lap-band" book...and I have a diet guide book given to me by my doctor and they both said that Crystal Light was okay, so is SF kool-aid.
