roundfuzzy reacted to schoollass in That was a painful lesson... Don't try it at home...
It might not have just been the taste, but I have found fist to be an E.X.T.R.E.M.E.L.Y. dense Protein. Ten years out and I still have to be very careful with how quickly I eat fish. While salmon or tuna taste fantastic, I can only have a bite or two before I have to stop. No more salmon cakes for me. Tuna salad is measured to 1/4 cup and I slowly pick at it with my fork one bite at a time making sure to place my fork down each time and chewing thoroughly. *smiles* Oy, sometimes I still have a problem. I know right away if my nose starts to run I've pushed too far and it's not going to stay put. It's a learning process. You'll find out others as you move further out from surgery. Good luck and if you have any questions feel free to ask.

If you are sure you can avoid tasting temptations while baking, but want the fun of it, bake Cookies and take them to seniors or people that live alone or play Secret Santa for neighbors.

roundfuzzy got a reaction from w8loser in Horror stories?!?
I have a "horror story" someone shared with m when I told her I was having my surgery.
Okay, more like a single sentence, " I hear it makes you crap your pants."
I didn't let her scare me. I had it done on 10/28/2013.
Just thought I'd add my true story to the mix.

roundfuzzy reacted to SoccerMomma73 in Telling Friends And Family...
I'm very open, friends and family knew beforehand and were 100% supportive (worried, but supportive). I initially had not planned to tell my patients (I'm a PA) however, quickly discovered that they noticed every darn pound and that I couldn't lie to them about it...would make me feel like a hypocrite so, when they mention it, I say yup, I'm losing, if they ask, I tell em the truth. I've had a few say they can't believe I needed to do that and I honestly tell them I've spent my entire life obese and this is what I needed to do to be healthy. I've yet to get a negative response to that.
You have to do what you are comfortable with...I'm comfortable being open. It works for me. (Except with grandparents...Lordy Lordy, they were tough)

I got a call from my nurse today and she said I passed my psych evaluation and that she's sending my paper work to the hospital people who will approve my surgery. Since I have hospital insurance I'm already approved but they look over my case too make sure I'm a good match for the full gastric surgery. They also look at have I done everything the doctor asked and I have plus some! She said she's going to call me tomorrow after she meets with them. I can't believe how close I am. I never thought I would ever be here! Thanks for everyone's support!!

roundfuzzy reacted to MissNikki27 in 2years out and already gaining
I agree...you just need to get re:motivated. You may want to get into a workout program at a gym or dvd program. Cut out the junk food and remember that you have come too far to go back.

roundfuzzy reacted to ElleG in 2years out and already gaining
Go back to your doc and get renewed/reenergized. You have come so far don't let the weight come back. Let the doc check your levels there could be a reason for the weight gain. Stop the sugar. I know it's easy to say, but start removing it slowly. Go to sugar free items until you can say enough!
I'm only 9 weeks and I think about it daily I have to chance the way I eat so there are just certain things I will not eat and that's just how it is. I'm sure it will get harder as I advance, but you can still do this. You have done the hard part and confessed, Now go to work!!!!

roundfuzzy reacted to tinkycheeks in Second Guessing Surgery!
I felt the same way. I had days when it was all I could do not to call my surgeon and back out. In fact, even on the operating table before they put me to sleep, if just one person would have asked me if I was sure I wanted to go through with it, I would have answered no. I actually remembering praying that no one would give me an out.
The fact is that without the surgery, I would still be morbidly obese. I was in a size 24, always tired, always moody, and hit my emotions in food. Now six months later, I'm in a size 10, so much healthier, so much happier, and I'm learning how to feel emotions instead of bury them. I have loose skin in my stomach and arms. And you know what? I don't care. I'm 33 and would love to be firm. But every bit of loose skin is worth how I feel now. Dave did an amazing job pointing out the health benefits, but those aside, just the way I feel inside is worth it all.

roundfuzzy reacted to fp9107 in No Support From Family
Not everyobe will suport you in your choice. You have to do this for you not for others.I kept my surgery very quiet. I had to tell my boss because I needed time off and I told my inlaws the week of my surgery, but that was it. When I was thinking about the surgery I shared with a few people and I got some of the same reactions from my family as well. You will in time not miss the soda or junk food and you will feel one hundred times better. It is amazingv what losing weight will do for your spirit. You will want to workout and stay active. It is not a easy road but it is worth it. I wish I had had the surgery five years ago. You can do this!!!

roundfuzzy reacted to Ammariehs mommy in I Got My Date!
I can't believe that I actually got my date! January 13th will be the day I start my new life! I met with my new surgeon on Thursday and I actually didn't think I was going to get a date that day. I thought that he was going to make me jump through more hoops. But he was great! I actually like him better than the first one. He made me feel like I was somebody. Most doctors when you meet them you are very intimidated by them. Especially when all your life all the doctors say to you is you need to loose weight. He actually told me that he WANTED to do surgery on me. He said that he knows I will be a success story since I have already done everything I was asked to do. He had me get a sonogram of my gallbladder, right kidney, liver and pancreas. I did that Friday. Next I have to go to a two hour seminar that is with the nurse and the nutritionist who will be following me through the surgery and post op. They are going to go over all the details of the surgery and the post op diet. Then the only thing that's left is the pro op testing. It feels so surreal right now! I have been trying to get this surgery for years. I am praying that everything will go smoothly and I will have a speedy and easy recovery. I think the thing that I am most nervous about is sending my daughter away for a week. This will be the longest I have ever been away from her. I think I will have a break down after about a day. Lbs I don't know how I am going to do a whole week. She's only 16 months. But I don't want to have to worry about her when I get home from the hospital. I want to get as much rest as I can and get myself on a schedule with eating again. I figure a week will give me enough time to get the rest I need and to start moving around again. I will be in the hospital Monday to Thursday. Well thanks everyone for reading my story. If anyone else has a January date let me know. We can be surgery buddies!!

I'm sooo loving my Mexican meals....1 tablespoon of chilli Beans, 1 tablespoon refried Beans, 1 teaspoon each of lite sour cream and cottage cheese...all pureed up to pinky/maroon mush. Yum!
Feeling great. Have done a 1hr tramp today thru some local forest and another 20 min walk later on in the afternoon. Fluid levels good. Still losing painfully slow - in fact I GAINED 1/4 lb this morning!! *sigh* ( still can't stay off scales).
Im keeping the faith that my body is in shock and will soon register all my hard work. :-)
