Hallo skattie, you are doing just great.Just get some of those elastic bands and stretch it a little, its better than doing nothing.
As more weight comes off,you will start wanting to exercise again. And remember how tired I was all the time, well its a lot better now.Protein pancakes I tell you they are the bomb.Gives me the pick me up I need and it is a very filling meal.
Keep doing what you are doing. You must look fab by now.

    Hi
I dont know how far out you are but this seems normal to me,happened to me as well.I've often wished I was one of these people that now feels no hunger and forgets to eat and complain that they dont get enough cals..blablabla...lol
But at 7 monyhs out I have made peace with it.I still buy a big tasty burger once in a blue moon, sit down with it,take a big bite of the burger, try a little of the bun, just to have it come right back up in my mouth and have to spit it out..TMI,I know, but I somehow dont feel the frustration of not being able to eat it anymore.I just go and make a protein pancake with lots of sf syrup and Im happy.
It will come, you'll see. Some of us have real food issues that takes a little longer to resolve. Also the closer I get to goal, the better I feel about not eating a lot anymore.
Just hang in there.Make your food choice daily.Dont decide for forever today.Just choose every day to choose to eat right for this one day, dont know if this makes sense but good luck and remember to be nice to yourself with things oer than food.

Well, complex carbs are more than just bread. The thing about the losing phase at least is this. You have about 6 months to maximize your weight loss. After that it slows down sooo much.To use those six months optimally you have to cut your carbs a lot.Bread is one thing that doesnt sit that well in the sleeve anyway in the beginning.Yam,sweet potato (those orange ones) they are great complex carbs. But do let go of the feelings about the bread.60g of protein is the minimum anyone should have per day.How much do you have at the moment?Have you tried tracking to see?
My friend had a kidney transplant and she is diabetic. She still loves food and she doesnt do so much proteins but she doesnt do a lot of carbs either. (I can see when her sugar is about to crash, thats when she will grab these slices of bread and db jam..lol) she loves making salad with qinoa or couscous with feta cheese and lettuce with sweetpotato, olives tomatoes....that type of thing was my staples for the first few months after my surgery. However,I had to cut carbs more now as the weight loss have slowed down.Do discuss this with your NUT.
But you cannot have an emosional attatchment to bread.Thats the type of thing that got us overweight in the first place. And you will be able to eat bread again. In controlled portions every now and then.It cannot be your "go to" thing in the future though.
Does this make sense to you?I was such a bread lover. All kinds of wonderful bread. And I loved butter..still do.But the bread doesnt do it for me anymore and I would rather have a melba toast with a little butter once in a blue moon now.
    Good luxk on your journey.

Are you on a PPI?Acid is sometimes masked as hunger.
And if you are still on liquids this is quite normal for some of us.Once you start eating you will feel satisfied as you WILL feel full.
Hang in there. Not long now before you can eat.

Spatters3,what you are going through surely puts things back in perspective for me!And you are right.
I have always been severly ADHD with hyper focus and unfortunately age didnt change that. But there are things I can do to conciously take my focus of this whole weight loss process.
And I will count my blessings one by one every day to help me move on.
I will also be praying for you that the Lord will keep you and protect you in this difficult and trying time. Please let us know how you are doing.xxo

    Hi
To be petrified at this point is what I would have been. You know,I think that pre-op we are sometimes plain stupid.I thought people that stalls,cheated...right?Now after my 3 week stall I know sooo much better.
You just have to remember there are only 2 kinds of people on earth. Those who get it and those who dont!
Of course the fear and the doubt will be part of your life until the leak is healed. You should just take this day by day, baby steps for now.Dont do too much.Be super gentle with yourself.Dont read stuff that seems unrelated to where you are at.If you need to vent tell people on the board thats stupid to get stuffed. You have the right to just be at the moment.
And the one thing that everyone can be guaranteed of in life is that bad things will happen to us.At some point,to each and everyone of us.Today is your turn tomorrow might be mine.
But this too shall pass.Lots of patience and careful living for now.
I will pray that this whole ordeal can be over quickly for you to start enjoying this great new life that awaits you for the rest of your life.
    xxo

This fear is what has kept me from getting surgery when I first considered it at age 22. I'm (almost) 32 now and have only ballooned even bigger in the last 10 years!! I look back now and WISH I was the same weight I was at age 22 - and I thought I was at my max BACK THEN.
Also, I have worked in health insurance for the last 10 years as well - In claims, pre-authorizations, AND in underwriting, so I've seen the good, bad, ugly and UGLIEST of things people have gone through with these surgeries. I feel like I've seen it all!! But on the flip side, I could also be one of those unfortunate people that strokes out or has a heart attack in their 30s simply because they're too fat. Would I rather give up cake for the rest of my life or be paralyzed? Uh, I'll pass on that cake...
What really made me open my eyes and say this is the better choice is that I was recently diagnosed with high blood pressure. Despite lifelong obesity, I've remained relatively healthy. The only major medical problem I've had is gall stones and I had my gall bladder removed right away with zero complications. Other than that, good blood work, good bp (until recently), good everything else except being big.
I just know that without this tool, I'm going to fail at losing weight as I have been doing for my whole life. Weight gain and/or complications are just bridges I'll have to cross when/if I get to them. In the meantime, the best thing we can do for our health is to THINK POSITIVELY! Whatever weight loss plan you ultimately choose, surgery or not, it's gonna require patience and commitment - and plenty of setbacks. That is what makes our journey our own. Good luck! You can do this!

Where are you going that its only 50 degrees? I want to come, lol. I stalled for 4 weeks and now even though I'm losing a little, its VERY slow. This is not what I expected with the WLS BUT, at least I am losing, whereas I probably would have gained 5-10 lbs before surgery

So sorry to hear about your Kitty! I understand how you feel, been there... many times. Its heartbreaking, my pets are family too.
And for you with surgery stress it is such bad timing. But keep thinking about her... right now she needs you.. maybe to do something that hurts you but will help her... Believe me I have gone to major lengths to save and try to 'cure" alot of mine over the years, but I always promised them I would look after them and sometimes looking after means letting them have peace. Its a hard decision but its the most important and really sometimes its the best for them, yes we suffer after they are gone, but they are painfree and I picture them up there lazing around on the clouds with all their friends that went first.
My heart is with you in this sad time

Do what works for your body. I've read that taking in too little calories causes the body to go into starvation mode and your body refuses to let go of weight, but when you fuel yourself up to a minimum of 1200 calories with high protein, veggies and healthy whole grain carbs that is your balanced diet approach which is the healthiest way to go. Primary is protein which is generally around 70-90 grams per day.
    Good Luck!

I'm using myfitnesspal to help me track..... dunno if you are using something like that but I love it, it's helped. Unfortunately, it's a numbers game. They say that you have stalls at certain times in this journey... so remember it's patience to reach the goal (or so's I tell myself!). Best of luck to you desertmom!

I felt this way early on, too -- from the restless sleep to the icky taste in my mouth and acid reflux. I am now approaching week 4 and as recently as this past week still had some up days and some down days. The nasty taste in my mouth has diminished. Someone here said that's a sign of ketosis. So I guess in a way it might not be so good that it's gone, but then again, its disappearance has also helped eliminate the nausea I was feeling and helping the little that I am able to eat now taste a whole lot better, which -- for me -- makes it easier to get my fluids and protein in.
This has been a very difficult adjustment to make and I'm still taking it one day at a time, but it does seem to be improving week over week. So hang in there. It does get better. This is something I have to keep telling myself as well.
    Best of luck to you.
