VGB2RNY got a reaction from LeanerLena5426 in Does it feel the same?
I am amazed as I read this thread! I thought I was the only one who failed the lap band! Mine was a vertical lap band that slipped and caused the heavy chest pain / pressure! Acid reflux and vomiting in my sleep where very common. Oh and when you described starving and not being able to eat that was me! My doctor recommended the RNY for me she said the sleeve will likely provide the same results sat the lap band did. I would suggest talking with your surgeon they should know which us best for you. Good luck!
I'm in day 6 of my revision to RNY! Life is good so far! Only disappointment is knowing they left all the remnants including the band in the old stomach! I pray complications don't form from it!

Thank you for your thoughts. Things are not going down for me as well and I have to drink to push them down and sometimes they will not even go down. The big apprehension I have about this surgery is not being able to eat and drink at the same time because that is how I have been accustomed to doing for 30 + years. The next big problem is sugar, I am allergic to the artificial sweetners and would love to have just a little sugar and of course I fear dumping as well.

I have terrible acid and indigestion and of course my anxiety is making everything worse. Everyday is a total struggle. I am so used to having everything get stuck and having to pass through eventually. I wouldn't even know the first thing about having it pass through completely. I haven't felt that sensation since I was 16 years old before my VBG.

I am truly grateful to you for all of your support.

I eat turkey pepperoni and cheese sticks when I am on the go (at work) and just need a quick snack- no carbs and great for adding protein! Also, I know you said you don't care for Protein Bars but have you tried south beach whipped pb bars? I think it's 7g Protein, 100 cal's, and is delicious. I only allow myself to have one just prior to working out but if you are looking for a quality snack, they are worth trying. 35lbs in 6 weeks seems really good to me, that's exactly what I lost too!

Hi I have a revision from sleeve to yay last may 28th. Lost from 287 lbs to. 221. Slow but I'm happy. Also recovery has been with no events eating all foods now. Don't regret anything. Started walking this week every second day for an hour which has started me out of the stall.
Keep in the it's worth it. I feel soooo good.

My surgery was May 2nd. No signs of Acid Reflux since surgery! (knock on wood) I developed Gerd about 13 years ago but never associated it with my lap band until I had the endoscopy.

I have chronic pain issues so swimming and Water aerobics help me a lot. I did this regularly prior to surgery and was happy to get back into it after my incision closed. I also keep weights next to me when I'm watching Tv and I do arm excercises during commercials. It's a start:)

Thanks--good to know. Yes, it's the band causing it. I never had any problems before I got the band.

It is amazing how many band to RNY there are. My surgery will be 5/23 to remove it. Then have to wait a few months for bypass. One thing you said was "you failed the band". I want to think the band failed me or you as it seems to be doing with quite a few. Statistics are now even showing this, as it is having a great failure rate. The doctors, I think, want to blame us but such a big numer have been playing by the book yet something happens, so my question is there a big problem with this type of surgery and the doctors don't want to admit it because this surgery is $$$$$$$ signs in their eyes. So good luck as I'm in your corner cheering for a speedy recovery and a fantastic weight loss for without any complications.

WOW, they left the remnants in of your old band????? My surgeon told me that he would take it out, that is why the surgery would take longer. How long was your surgery? It souds like you are happy with your choice of RNY....that is also my choice...just waiting on a date.
