I was on 800 cals a days and had stalled. Lifted up to 900 and lost another 4lbs so yes too low calories may make the body panic in preservation mode. All I know is I'm still loosing and not gaining. Slowly but surely. Getting closer to the target one week at a time. Isn't that what it's all about?

Wow! I had kind of a stupidity day. First, I didn't have any Water until about 2 hours after getting up. I only had a bit of Protein for my first meal. By lunchtime, I was very hungry and ate too fast. Pain! Had to wait a half hour for pain to subside, so i had a little water then. I felt better so I went outside to mow the lawn and got overheated AND dehydrated. Came inside for a cold shower, and I just felt awful. THE GOOD NEWS: I made myself slow down, drink a shake and took my Vitamins. I rested and then had a half cup of chili on schedule. I am feeling better. What did I learn from this? My body needs TLC, not more abuse. I need to follow my doctor's directions and take care of myself.

Hey there! I had surgery May 8, and I'm down 38 pounds. I seem to be losing slowly, but at least it is pretty steady. I put on a smaller sized jeans today, and they seem a bit big! WHAT? I'm still wearing them because I like how it feels.

I know it's kind of strange but I'm looking forward to blending in. Just for once I'd like to have to search for myself in a group photo.

Hello everyone! Surgery was the 20th and I got to go home on the 22nd. While I'm the hospital I was well taken care of. Needles went in and fine. The catheter ( which really scared me a little) went in fine ( I think, though I was sleep). However the doc did say they would also take it out while I was sleep. They did not, they took it out while I was waking up from the anaesthesia. I remember it but not really so I was pleased with that as well. The first night I woke every 2 hours ( literally) to use the bathroom. I think that kept me from gaining extra weight. Now on post op day 9 I've lost 12lbs ( but won't make it official until my post op appointment next week). Fluids are starting to get in pretty good now and Ive been walking everyday! (Proud of my own self about that). The only thing I absolutely hate are the chewable vitamins ( man they are nasty) I have to mentally prepare myself before putting them in my mouth. Other than that God has truly been good and I'm so glad I did this. And I pray daily that this surgery will continue to be a great tool that I take advantage of daily. Hope everyone else is doing well and good luck to those still to come.

maybe you should check your blood sugar, dumping is caused by eating foods that are high in sugar/carbs my nutritionist said that our body reacts to the carbs with a surge of insulin which then causes a drop uh blood sugar leading to the symptoms that you're having.

Do you have an addictive personality? I noticed you asking about smoking earlier.
I have an addictive personality. food, cigarettes, alcohol....whatever. But I'm trying to be healthy...and I just went 12 grand out of pocket to try to lose weight. And I've been quit on the smoking for over 2 years. So smokes and booze are not in my future (unless if it's just wine with a friend...and only occasionally. I'm not even planning that). And I'm not judging...I just didn't waste a bunch of money to be an addict to other things. I've seen too much cross addiction when researching this step in my life.
You should ask your surgeon when they recommend drinking. Many say 6 months...some say a year. Then it's only supposed to be one drink at a time (I think). I didn't ask my surgeon about this, since I have no plans to do it. It's not recommended to drink a lot though....and alcoholism is a major problem with post GB patients.

As all of us who are or have been overweight know, no-one else can talk us in to losing weight. It's not gonna happen till 'we' are ready.
However as you lose weight and start enjoying a healthier life he will probably get motivated to come to a decision himself to get on with it.
It's easier for men to lose weight and when he is ready to make the diet and lifestyle changes then his own weight loss and sense of well being should be enough to keep up the motivation... hopefully.
In the meanwhile tell him to quit harping on about you leaving him because that's not gonna happen but him harping on annoys the hell out of you lol.
And if he doesn't lose any weight for a long time, if at all, well, just remember that we all expect and want people to accept us the way we are, it's no different for him.
    Good luck xox

I can finally say I had the surgery! I had the bypass Wednesday, May 8, and it is now Saturday, May 11. I still have cramps and pain, but considering it was major surgery, I am doing great!
I've been up walking around the house occasionally folding laundry, making sure I drink lots of sips of Water. My first night home from the hospital my family made pizza and celebrated my husband's birthday with an ice cream cake. It wasn't really difficult to resist since my stomach is still so sore, but it smelled really good. I am going to need a better defense down the road when my stomach doesn't hurt any more.
