Binge-ing
I think I may have to keep the Greek yogurt out of the house. I scarfed 3 of them like it was cheesecake.

Hello
I chose RNY gastric bypass because I have a tendency to overeat at mealtimes. it was explained to me that the little pouch helps most with this type of eating behavior. The surgeon I went to see first told us that he no longer did bands because she felt the rate of slippage was too high to justify.

So discouraged!
Don't let this one surgeon stop you. Call other offices and be up front with them about your BMI--you WILL find one that will work with you

6 month diet woes
for me, it helps not to have any of those bad foods in the house. I got rid of all junky stuff. Then I started to control my fast food habit--I'm not a big one for home cooked meals, so I eat out a lot. I switched from burgers and fries to the salad options most places have. My favorite is Wendy's. the salads are yummy and have a reasonable number of calories. chick-Fil-A salads are pretty great too. Hope this helps!! =)

I hate protein shakes :-(
So far I've tried the vanilla Designer Whey powder (icky by itself and not very sweet. I ended up adding some Sugar Free vanilla syrup and it was better). I like the vanilla EAS powder better. I didn't need to add anything to it. I use Silk light soy milk and a few ice cubes in the blender. Strangely, I really liked the premixed Designer Whey which is why I bought the powder. Atkins premade shakes taste okay: I've tried the strawberry and caramel cafe, both so-so, and the vanilla is my favorite. They only have 2 carbs and 15g protein.

addicted to smoking
I smoked over two packs a day for 15 years. I used the patch to help me quit along with sugar-free gum, mints, candy, my toothbrush, dental floss, knitting, and crocheting. Anything to keep my hands busy. I've been smoke free for six years now. good luck--you can do this!!

Dieting Woes
- Got my insurance letter..
Congrats!!!- Dieting Woes
thanks for your support, Ladies! I was able to stick to the plan today One day at a time- Dieting Woes
So I'm my 3rd month of physician supervised weight loss. I started out with a daily calorie goal of 1200, which was pretty do-able, but the weight loss was s-l-o-w. I've gone down to 1000 calories this month as my doctor initially recommended (she's tiny!). I had been reading theworldaccordingtoeggface.com and I decided to try and begin my high protein-low carb-low fat post surgery diet now for practice. I'm really struggling with it. I am definitely a carb addict. It might be my TOTM coming up, so I might be able to attribute some of my hideous cravings toward that, but I am feeling like such a failure right now (I ate tortilla chips and flan last night) I hope it gets a little bit easier after surgery. are any of you struggling like me?- Egg Drop Soup w/Tofu
sounds super easy! thanks for sharing =)- Calorie intake
If I eat 1200 or more calories a day, my weight loss is very very slow to nil. My doctor recommended 1000 cal a day, which seems to work much better. You might want to try going down for a few days to see if that helps.- Chronic nausea and other issues
Erica, I am so sorry to hear about your struggles. it must be so frustrating for you. I've got my fingers crossed that one of those brilliant docs out there will know how to help you. please keep us updated! Take care- protien bars
Lol Jen! I'm glad there is someone out there (successful post-op) who doesn't use Protein bars. Im allergic to nuts and so far I haven't found one that's safe for me to eat. If you can manage without them then there's hope for me! lol- Back from ER
I'm glad it's not a life threatening situation. I hope everything smooths out for you soon! Take care- 10 Week Post Op - Down 87.5lbs
Wow Andy! You are a new and improved man!! Thanks for sharing your story and info. I'm still in pre-op stages and the waiting is interminable. but like everyone else, I will eventually move through this stage. It's been a great practice in patience- psych eval
Wow that sounds like a really thorough eval! I'll count my blessing that I only had to have one psych appt. Hopefully I pass it- hi
Hey Amanda, what's going on with you? How can we help?- 4 Years Post-Op
Wow you look fantastic!! What an inspiration you are to us all Did you start off exercising pretty soon after your surgery? I am pre-op and I have such a hard time motivating myself to exercise now.- New here, my surgery is this friday 1/18

- Protein drinks
I've tried the vanilla, which is pretty good, and the caramel coffee and strawberry, which were just okay. I'm still pre-op, so Im using this time to try all different flavors and brands to see which ones I like best.- Progress picture
Wow jenn! what a nice surprise! I still get shocked sometimes when I look in the mirror and see the big me--in my head, I'm not that big. it will be nice to have it the other way around! Congrats - Got my insurance letter..
