I had my first appointment june 17. It has been a long road.

Okay so after 10 and a half months I finally have my surgery date, and it's April 25th. I've been waiting 10.5 months and I feel like these next three weeks are taking forever! It's like time went flying by and now it's hit a brick wall and I could have sworn the clock was turning back. What did you all do to kill the time?

I chose RNY because I have GERD and my surgeon and a lot of research showed that GERD plus VSG was a formula for esophagus cancer. And RNY ultimately cures GERD

I have (now) well controlled Bipolar and anxiety/depression disorders. When I first went through the psych evaluation, I was not passed because I was not in a good mental state at the time. My psych based my approval over a 165 question, t/f test. The first time around I answered pessimistically, and was not able to proceed until I had 6 months of therapy and my illness was under control. I had my second eval last month and passed with flying colors. Just go in with a positive mentality and you will be fine.

Did he say if you could do anything? When my psych failed me for my exam(for similar reasons), they required me to have 6 months of regular counselling, A session a week. And then I could be re-evaluated by the WLS psych. Call your surgeon/insurance/etc to see if there was anything you can do. Even try a psych in a neighboring city/town that approves WLS.

I GOT MY DATE TODAY! April 25th, I'm so excited, It's been 10 months and I finally have a date!

I have been saying that I am going through a life style change

Sugarfree popcicles and Jello And I chewed the hell out of some gum.

I have dryness like that now. I have been strughling with it for months before I found my solution. I use aveeno extra moisture lotion. Right after i take a shower I wet my face with cool Water and then put a little bit of the lotion to the dry area. mixing it with the cool water helps my skin absorb the lotion.

Reasons why I chose RNY and not the Sleeve. 1. Higher Weight loss with RNY, of course. 2. Failure rate of Sleeve is much higher, and also has a few more complications that end up being converted to RNY 3. And the final deciding factor was my acid reflux, My surgeon said that it would get much worse with the sleeve, but not with bypass.

I have been on depo for two years. My lady doctor said that there shouldnt be any issues after surgery. There was some weight gain, but this was also when I wasnt conserned and was eating everything but the kitchen sink. But I love the depo. Its conveniant, not a daily thing and I hated the idea of inplant

I got approved! Just got home from seeing the psych, And I'm sane! Yay! Now I'm just waiting for her to contact the surgeon and I'll be able to get my date! I'm so excited.

Hey, I'm 21, I'm having my surgery soon. I've looked in to pretty much every problem that happens after RNY, but the one thing I haven't found is the excess skin on younger people. If anyone has pics or could describe their excess skin, or what they did to prevent it please spread the information. Thank you.

Previous un resolved mental history, failed the sucess questionnaire. I am the only one I know of who has failed. You will be fine.

I've heard that some people have problems with jerky, you have to be careful and make sure it's chewed thoroughly I've heard It has a tendency to cause severe constipation.

So, back in June, I had my seminar. I had my first consultation, my pre op testing, my psych exam. I failed the psych exam was banished to 6 months of therapy which was finished in January, and now, after fighting with my insurance and psych, I'm now getting my second psych evaluation on the 5th, two months late. But it's happening, I'm so excited and sure I'll pass this time. I'm so excited, and frustrated , and ready! We were held up by the insurance didn't want to pay/ mix up and all that. But we are back in action. Woohoo!

I'm still pre-op, I'm waiting for a call to get my surgery date. And I'm just frustrated! I don't know why, the past couple of days I've been on edge, I've been irritable, and I just snapped at my mother. I NEVER snap at my mother. I've been crying on and off, and I'm just all sorts of bleh. Anyone else experience this? I'm about a week and a half in to my pre-op diet.

Same boat! I'm waiting on a lovely lady named Brittany to call me with my date. Fingers crossed for all of us.

a friend of mine found a coffee or cappichinno flavored protein shake that she said was amazing! She found it at the Vitamin shop.

Get something you know you can handle, like soup or fish, and take the rest home for lunch/ dinner tomorrow.
