  1. So, it turns out I can't get a second opinion, But, It's alright, It's only six months. I'm going to start going to another Psych, one who specializes in obesity related depression and anxiety. I didn't know that existed until today, lol. I'm still disappointed, but at the same time I'm a little relieved, it seemed that things were moving too fast anyway, and now I can also get the help that I need, and in January right after my 21st birthday, I'll get to start the new life that I will deserve, and I'll be in the right mind to be able to succeed with the tool that I will be given. On a side note, I got my blood tests back, I have low Vitamin D, and The bacteria H. Pylori. So I have to take a crazy expensive Antibiotic for 14 day, and be on horse pills of Vitamin D for the rest of my life.
  2. My surgeon said that they had to specialize in weight loss
  3. I am definitely getting a second opinion, I have been in counseling since my sophomore year of high school, it was my regular councilor who recommended the surgery in the first place.
  4. My psych practically looked at a the answers for the true false questions, and compared them to 700 other people's answers and said that I was crazy, based on true false questions. Because that's how you get diagnosed with anything now, those pesky true false questions. Because saying yes to "my weight make me unhappy" Is wrong. I think it is a skewed system. Maybe it will be different for you, best of luck.
  5. So today was my psych evaluation, I went in, waited for 45 minutes before she even called me in. Then, She had me take a 165 question true false test, which took about 30 minutes. And I waited again, this time for another 40 minutes, Then we went and had our little interview, She asked me about any sort of past trauma I may have had, any sort of huge change, any sort of issues whatever. Then she asked about what I expect after the surgery, where I expect to be after a year. Then she pulled out the stupid test results and told me that the test says that I'm suffering from severe anxiety and depression and that she can not ethically allow me to proceed with the surgery at this time. So she says that I have to go through six months of therapy, and she will re-evaluate me again. So, I have to wait six months anyway. Needless to say I'm very disappointing, but now I get to drink for my 21st birthday, yippee. (sarcasm)
  6. Lower back tattoo
  7. Go get a pregnancy test to know for sure, then either it will be negitive and everything is fine, or you will be pregnant and you should go to the doctor. But you won't know until you get a test. There is no use in freaking out.
  8. Same here, the reason some insurances require the 6 mo plan is to weed out the people who are trying to do this because they think it is the easy way out, and have never tried to lose before. IF there is a paper trail of your attempts then 9/10 they will not require the 6 mo.
  9. Heaviest Weight 500 First Consult Weight(7/9/12) 457 Today: 456 I lost one lb since monday, and I start my pre op diet today.
  10. My boyfriend wasn't 100% on board when I started talking about it, He was the same way,"why don't you just diet and blah blah blah" And I was like, You have been living with me for three years, You know how I eat! I eat very little, and mostly well, I go to the pool three times a week, and I'm not losing nearly enough to be healthy. I told him that I would like his support, but I'm doing it wither he likes it or now, because I want to be healthy, and have children, and I don't want to die by the time I'm thirty, and If I'm not dead, I don't want to be living only by a case of medication. After I exploded all of this, (and cried a little) He got on board, He's coming with me to the dietitian today, and said that He'll even start dieting too, not as hardcore as I am, but eating clean, healthy foods, and no more fast food. (he could afford to lose a few lbs. also) But If he loves you and wants you to be happy, He will come around.
  11. I don't think I'm going to tell Facebook, I'm just going to post a few pictures and if they ask I'll tell. I just don't want to deal with negative reactions until after I get it done. I'm going to tell my boss after I get a real date, so that I can get my time off. But other than that I'm not telling anyone at work. There are a LOT of judgmental assholes, especially this one girl who lost 100 lbs the "natural way" and thinks that everyone else can do it too, and the surgery is just cheating for lazy people.
  12. I really want to just go ahead and post it on facebook, because I'm so excited, but I'm not sure if it's appropriate
  13. I saw these while I was at the store today.has anyone tried them? 10g Protein 150 calories 1g sugar 5g fat
  14. Sparklette replied to Elmo's topic in Soft (stage 3)
My mother and I have been making this for years lol, we add half a can of tomato sauce or some rotel tomatoes.
  15. I've told a few close friends, My boyfriend, and my parents. I've been back and forth about posting it on Facebook, I'm not sure if I want to tell everyone or wait for them to see pictures of lighter me. What did y'all do?
  16. He said it was ambitious, not impossible, If that's where you want to be work hard, set your mind to it and you can do it. Who knows, maybe you'll hit a weight and you'll want to stay there, even if it isn't at your goal, I've noticed a lot of post op people saying that.
  17. Oh my god, I just loled so hard I almost spewed Water out my nose. I love you mami! You're hilarious!
  18. You should be pissed at him, I would be furious, you specifically asked him not to tell anyone, and he did anyway. You shouldn't be embarrassed, it isn't their business, and if they can't support you for trying to save yourself then screw them. You are doing this for YOU, and that's the only opinion you need.
  19. I have all of my pre-op stuff scheduled!!! EKG on thursday, Nut on friday, and Psych on monday. After this I just need to do the pre op edu classes and then I can be a loser!
  20. Sparklette posted a topic in The Gals' Room
So have any post op ladies noticed an increase in your sex drive? Just curious.
  21. I'm going to get a Phoenix, They symbolize rebirth.
  22. And also, When I went and got weighted I now know that my scale at home is 100% unreliable. I'm 457 on the scale at the hospital, My scale at home was saying 520. so either I lost 70 lbs in a 5 minute car ride, or my scale is wrong, which was a really nice surprise.
  23. Okay so I just got home, My Doctor talked to my insurance company already, and everything is good, I just need to see the nut and the psych and I'll be ready for surgery! My insurance doesn't require six months pre op weigh in's which is FANTASTIC and my doctor said that if everything checks out then I can have surgery by mid August! I'm so freaking excited, and so happy. Also at the same time part of me is a little disappointed that I didn't have to wait 6 months, now it feels like it went from walking at a snails pace to that of a Jamaican Olympian, it feels real now, not some made up hope for the distant future. I did my blood work right after the consultation, and I have an EAG(?) on Thursday, and my dietitian on Friday. And now I'm just waiting on the Shrink appointment to be scheduled and then I'll be ready to take the pre op classes, and then It'll be surgery time!
  24. I think it's a sign, in the waiting room there is a "sparklette" water fountain
  25. I am in the waiting room, waiting for them to go through my paperwork. I am still nervous. But it'll be alright, right?
