Shrinking Violets - Part 5!
Kity, I joined WW yesterday. I need to lose the 25lbs I can't with the band. I will be adding weight to this if I don't do something. Sure, we have the band but somehow we can eat too much of junk and I need to stop before I start the charts going upward! I have gained about 10lbs since this ticker and now have to lose that plus the 18 or so I can't lose on my own with the band. I never thought I'd say that. WW put me on 22 points a day and it tracks it on their etools, easy to do. Join on their website and get the first month 1/2 off, so 19.99 the first month with unlimited visits during the month, it's called the monthy pass. You can print it out and go to the meeting that day. I think I can do this but I need help. I am seeing a lot of weight gains on here and also with people who have been banded that I know. We must stop this and get back on track. I thought you might be interested in this info.

Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!
thanks Phyl, I will try hard in PT tomorrow to get range of motion, right now it's 103 on my own and 113 with the therapist's help. I just want to be able to walk for longer than 20-25 minutes before it stiffins up on me. I know it will take time, and appreciate your thoughts.

Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!
Well, it has been 5 weeks since the total knee replacement surgery and sometimes I second guess it. OMG, that was sooo painful, I thought why did I do this. I hope I get to the point were everyone says oh, I'm so happy I did this. I can only walk around for about 20 minutes and the whole leg tightens up. I need to sit down then and rest. The trick or treaters will have to bear with me, lol.

Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!
thanks Phyl, I really appreciate it, it's good to hear from someone who had this done. it's funny how the knee feels better just before surgery. Doesn't hurt now that much, lol. anyway, I think the pain will come back. I will have the other knee done, but I don't know when I should do it. Maybe in November? I'll see how I heal up first. You've been a real help, thanks.

Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!
thanks Phyl for the advice. I have a four-wheeled walker and a high toilet, they said they would give us a seat we could put on top of our toilets, maybe I should take that too. Do you mean like the liquid lortab? that's what I got after my lapband surgery and makes me tired. I don't really want to sleep, I know I need to walk, do I? was it really worth it, I get chicken sometime and wonder. I am bone on bone on both knees, I will do one knee first on Wednesday at 11:30am. It should take 2 hours, does that sound about right? did you get up the first day, they said I should. they have a machine to move the leg and bend the knee for you, did you have that? Man, the pain must be something else. do you just not feel in balance when you walk or is it the pain or both. thanks

Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!
Phyl, I have been following your progress and it seems like pain is an issue after total knee replacement. I am going to have this procedure done on September 23rd and am a bit nervous. I am bone on bone for both knees, we will do one at a time. Will I be okay with a walker after surgery, does it hurt when you try to walk or when you keep it straight or bent or all the time? thanks

Hello from Kalamazoo
hi Dutch, I am from Kzoo too and Dr. Verseman banded me also at Borgess on May of '07. He is the best doctor and so caring also. I usually go to the seminars with him every month because he saved my life with banding me. that's the way I feel. Love him.

Taking Antibiotic Capsules?
georgia girl, try emptying the capsules in some applesauce. if the taste is real bad maybe you can try to swallow one and see if it goes down. I don't have any problems with my pills since being banded. maybe you can call the doctor and get different pills?

Hi From Michigan
hi Michiganders, I am in Kalamazoo. Nice to hear from fellow bandsters here in Michigan. I can't believe the amount of people at the seminars here in Kalamazoo, I go there to speak about the band to the upcoming bandsters. I think they like to see someone who had the band and speak to me about it, plus I'm glad to be on the other side!

oh, okay, I guess I could grind the ham up and wash it down with a dew? makes sense to me. i wonder about snickers bars, will they do well in the blender? anywho, I guess whatever you do just make sure it is followed by a dew.

Just ate....
you guys all give examples for mushies and real food, but what about the liquid food stage? afterall, the doc said you could drink a lot of your calories, we wouldn't do that, right? any recommedations?

I can't face another clear liquid drink.. going MAD
kizzie, you could make some ramen noodles and drink the liquid, or I used to get the progresso light soups and drink the liquid from them, what was really good was the southwestern vegetable one. you'll do it! good luck.

Atkins Changed The Taste Of Their Shakes ...
I also sent them a nasty e-mail. thanks for the hookup to the site. let's hope we hear something soon. I think if a lot of us contact them, they might go back to the original flavor.

at a standstill
stargazer, I am doing the same thing. I ate a Cadbury bar in two days. I am so disapointed in myself. I also ate about a cup of ice cream (low carb) but a half a jar of caramel topping, not sugar free, I can't blame anyone but myself, I am sooo ashamed. I wonder after so long of being good that sometimes we stray? I tell myself in the morning I'll be good all day, but I strayed again. hate the guilt!

Getting tighter, gurgling, reflux and regurgitation at night. HELP!
I had the same problem and the doctor took some fluid out and now I don't have reflux at all. I would suggest talking to your doctor cause what happened to me is from being so tight, I have enlarged my pouch and now I have to be on liquids then mushies for a week to shrink it back to normal. the restriction was good but it caused problems. hope this helps. it is soooo nice not to have the reflux anymore. delo
