  1. I was banded on May 31st, 2007. I have lost around 80lbs and could not have done it without the band. I just had total knee replacement and was not mobile for a long time, I gained 10lbs because of it. I joined Weight Watchers to help me be accountable for losing weight and something's working cause I have lost 6 of the 10 I gained. This is a struggle and will always be cause bad food goes down fine and solid protein does not. I eat cottage cheese and some natural peanut butter and still I don't think I eat right. We are used to eating a whole slab of ribs and can't do that now. Old habits are hard to break, I know it. Sometimes get depressed cause I can't eat, can you imagine that? good luck and keep in touch.
  2. OMG, President Obama is in Kalamazoo to congratulate the seniors who are graduating from Kalamazoo Central High School. He shook all their hands and gave them a hug, how thrilling is that for the school. They won the chance of thousands of schools all over. President said he wants this to happen every year, to pick a top high school every year for each president to be a guest speaker, not college, high school. Our streets downtown are shut down and security was high here. Weather was beautiful. Oh well, WW tomorrow, I don't think I did quite as good as I wanted.
  3. yeah, it's best you get an unfill. I got sick from the pain meds though.
  4. Judy, I didn't have to get an unfill before my surgery, but I am only at 3.5cc in a 10cc band.
  5. Judy, it's Dolores Cosby
  6. Judy, it will be a little longer than 12 weeks before it feels like your regular knee, it was real hard for me to go through, but I bet you'll do better. Make sure you do your exercises after surgery, especiall the one where you get like an old cookie sheet and sit in a chair where you can bend your knee back on the cookie sheet. Put your foot on the cookie sheet and slide it under your chair, you need to have the range of motion and this is the best exercise to do for that. They will push your knee back as far as they can each time you go to PT. I finally got mine to 110 degrees at the end of PT. Log on to my facebook and there is a video on there of me at Borgess after surgery. You will need a walker and a cane, believe me. I couldn't wait to start on the cane after the walker. I gained 10lbs with this surgery and it was on September 23rd last year. that's why I joined WW to lose this unwanted weight. Lost another half pound today at WW. The thought of even getting up to go to the restroom in the middle of the night was frightening, couldn't move out of bed to go, had to have my husband pull me up and move my leg down. I just think you should know what to expect cause no one gave me the news. Take the pain pills in the hospital. Guess what, when you first get out of surgery you go, wow, this is great, I can do this, I'll do my other knee very soon, well, what they do is give you an assortment of pain meds injected in the knee after surgery and you can do anything. Well, when this wore off, let me just tell you, you realize reality, wow. On top of all that, I couldn't take the strong pain medications they gave me, I was so nauseated and light headed and just took Tylenol, wow, I was in some real pain. I think maybe this could be just me, you might do real well, I'm a baby, but it's nice to know what might be. It will be a while before you can walk any distance without tiring. I tried to look around at Target with my daughter about 9 weeks post op and had to rest every couple minutes, just sat while she shopped. Let me tell you though right now I'm happy I did it, no pain. In fact, I can bend it pretty good now. It was hard to get my other knee to bend to get into a tight spot this weekend while the surgery knee did bend quite well. One good and one bad knee now. I will talk to you as you need info.
  7. seems like I'm satisfied with WW's food system too.
  8. Weighed in yesterday at WW, lost another pound! Glad I joined cause I just plateaued and was blaming it on everything (thyroid and complete knee replacement), but it was just me I guess. I think I need to be accountable to someone every week.
  9. WW tonight for me.
  10. Lost another 2lbs this week at WW. Wow, so far 3 3/4lbs in 2 weeks. So I go to WW with a band, I think they don't understand that we still have to have help with our eating.
  11. I agree, what happened to TracyKS, I lost 2lbs at WW, yahoo!
  12. I guess those are extra points that if you don't use them you lose them. I guess maybe sometimes we overeat and get discouraged, so this is a way to let us not feel guilty and give up, but rather, add those extra points and start again tomorrow. I think it's like 35 a week?
  13. Judy, I have 22 points also.
  14. I guess I was double excited!
  15. 48 thin pretzels sticks is 2 points on WW!
  16. 48 pretzel sticks is 2 points on WW!
  17. I am here Kity, I was exploring my etools for WW, found some good recipes on there for salad dressing.
  18. Kity, that's great about WW, you probably have a great speaker, and that helps for motivation. I have an older gal who tells too many jokes and asks too many questions, she needs to give us more motivation. One of her jokes, it's okay to pat yourself on the shoulder, even a mosquitto needs a swat. haha
  19. Irishmae, yes, I do have etools and will check this out. thanks.
  20. Hi Haydee, congrats on you wedding, sounds like a lot of people on here will be going, good friends for sure.
  21. thanx irishmae, I may have some questions. Good to know we have help here. I have to get used to the point thing, it's hard to find points in some things, especially homemade foods.
  22. Well, I don't have to go every day but I need to get some motivation like when I first was banded. If you have the monthly pass then you can go every day. There was a woman who also does the medical weight loss program there, I thought that was interesting. So you see, I think just getting out of the house and being with all different kinds of people and talking helps. Don't get me wrong, I love my band, I just feel it did its job and I have to finish this and nip it before I gain more weight. What is it about all we went through for this to be gaining weight now?
  23. getting ready for WW again. I went yesterday and I will go as many times I can cause I have a monthly pass and I need all the coaching and food talks.
  24. you're welcome, Kity, I hope it helps, I can only have 22 points, yikes!
  25. yeah, Judy we talked before, let me tell you the rehab is something else on knee replacement.
