  1. You'll get more protein in by eating things like eggs, tuna, cheese, fish, chicken, etc. than you will by eating protein bars. For the calories and carbs in them compared to the protein in them, they're just not worth it to me during the losing stage. That's just my opinion though.
  2. Wow Blue...you're doing GREAT! Be brave....if I can do it you can do it...post some pics! I bought a few pair of pants that are size 14 because they were very cheap...but I can't wear them yet. Hopefully soon though! I'm seriously running out of clothes
  3. Dang girl...you look skinny! Congrats on your loss....you've done so well.
  4. Way to go Kymmi...I'm glad you identified the problem and fixed it!
  5. Well let's start with more info. How many calories are you eating per day? How many carbs? Are you logging your food everyday? Have you changed anything about your diet?
  6. I drink coffee everyday. I use powdered creamer and equal. I probably drink 2-3 oversized coffee cups every day. I guess overall caffeine isn't great for you...but ehh....oh well It's had no effect on my hunger...in fact it probably curbs any hunger I might have in the mornings. I started substituting one cup of coffee for a protein shake though because coffee for years has been my "breakfast". So now I have a protein shake as a substitute for breakfast.
  7. Sounds like your friend might be talking about one of the malabsorptive procedures...either the RNY or the DS. And I do believe Stacy is right..the only thing we have trouble with is the B12 due to a reduced amount of Intrinsic Factor. The fact that the sleeve has the LEAST amount of side effects (actually WHAT side effects?) is why I chose this surgery and not one of the other options.
  8. Great job Carla! Feels great doesn't it?
  9. OMG You look fabulous! When did you get engaged??? I'm so happy for you! That dress looks gorgeous on you...is that "the one"?
  10. Today is my 5 month surgiversary. Everything is going great...I don't have really anything new to report. I'm down 67 lbs since surgery and 91 total. I haven't taken measurements in a while...need to do that soon. I'm still not exercising very much...wish I could make myself LIKE it. I did walk 2 miles tonight. I don't log my food everyday but I eat pretty much the same things over and over so I have a good idea where I am on any given day. I love my sleeve....my hubby named her Veronica. LOL Don't ask..he names everything including our houseplants. I have so much more energy now and I'm starting to like shopping again. One of my employees came over this evening and I cleaned out my closet and gave her 4 garbage bags worth of clothes. I think I now have about 3 pair of pants that fit...lol I went from a tight 24 pants and 2x/3x shirt to a 16 pants and a regular xl shirt. Starting to get a little flabby and wrinkly in my upper arms and inner thighs but it's not too terribly bad yet. I've had zero problems so far and other than being impatient I've had a very textbook experience. All my co-morbs are gone which is the absolute BEST thing about losing weight. I feel like I'm gaining my health back which is the best feeling. I didn't even realize how much my weight was affecting my health and holding me back from LIFE. To anybody on the fence...I say GO FOR IT..this is the best thing I've ever done myself and I've not had a single moment's regret. I'm over halfway to goal and hoping I'll make it there. I have great restriction although it does vary. It's a very strange thing to me still. I had to dig deep to find some before pics because I absolutely HATE pics of myself....and they're quite embarrassing to me. I still don't like the camera so my two post op pics are self pics with my iphone that I took to send to one of my best friends who lives in a different state than me.
  11. It's definitely not tasteless...it's just unflavored. I think it's pretty yuck...tried it once and said never again. But I've read plenty of others who tolerate it well.
  12. Angie, You look beautiful and thin....you will get to your goal weight, I know you will. I miss chatting with you, it's been a while!
  13. I have BCBS of Louisiana and it's an exclusion on my policy. Not just VSG but ALL weight loss surgeries are exclusions. No appeal possible. I self paid for my VSG and it was worth every penny. So...you need to find out if they cover WLS but just not the sleeve or if WLS is an exclusion altogether. If they do cover WLS but just not the sleeve, you have a good chance of winning that with an appeal. If it's excluded, then your only option is to self pay.
  14. I really like your hair like that and that color....it's a great look on you. You look fabulous and I'm glad you're maintaining so easily...I hope 1. to get to goal and 2. to be able maintain like you are!
  15. It's 91 lbs since I started my pre-op diet which I did earlier than I needed to. So 91 lbs since the middle of March and 67 post op.
  16. So close to onderland that is..I woke up this morning and the scale said 201. Wow...I was shocked and pleasantly surprised. I bet it takes me another few weeks to lose 2 more lbs to make it there. But I can see it...it's just RIGHT there...and I'm so EXCITED!!
  17. I've yet to come across anything that doesn't agree with me. Granted I've not really ever tried sweets...oh I did have a bite of a cookie one time. I'm not interested in having those things in my losing phase...maybe in moderation once I get to maintenance.
  18. Congratulations! I think you're doing great. I'm a pretty slow loser too but I'm ok with it...we'll get there!
  19. what thyroid tests did they run and were they out of range? Do you have a copy of your labs?
  20. LOL....isn't it great? I agree with you though...it's so much easier to leave all the bad stuff behind now and I definitely crave more healthy stuff now. I love it!
  21. For me my reasons for not choosing the RNY nor ever even considering it. 1. They make a stomach pouch which often stretches out. 2. You have a blind stomach which is nearly impossible to scope should you have any problems. 3. I did not want my intestines rerouted. I was not interested in malabsorption. It might be fine now when we're younger and healthy, but about when we're elderly people and just by virtue of age and aging need additional supplements. I don't want to have to deal with being malnourished, malnutritioned, etc. because of malabsorption. 4. The revision rate is pretty high with RNY. I did a lot of research and on the Revision board and failed weight loss surgery boards over on OH there were just too many RNY's looking to revise to something else..some even desperate enough to go to BOB...band over bypass. To me that is the worst of all wls worlds. 5. My problem was overeating..not so much WHAT I was eating. I just had a really big appetite...although I did eat a lot of carbs...who doesn't like carbs? I quit carbs about six weeks before surgery and frankly I don't miss them.
  22. Do a search on stalls and you will find 6 million threads about it. Congratulations..your thread just made 6 million and ONE! LOL Good luck and hang in there...it's all very normal and expected.
  23. I think it's fabulous...and right on track.
  24. I don't really have any suggestions...but I think it's very nice that you want to do something special for him.
  25. You definitely need to work on that....obviously that was NOT a beneficial nor healthy nor productive way to handle it. You'd been better off bawling your way through the day. Emotional eating is a big problem and one of the toughest things to overcome...that along with "head hunger". I think you need to examine and figure out why this person who treated you poorly and has been for quite some time apparently bothers you so much. Why do you give this idiot that much power over your emotions? And what message were you trying to send to the guy who correctly stated the donuts weren't good for you? The real victory there would have been for you to have said you know what...you're right. They're NOT good for me and I don't need them as you put them back and walked away. I think before you have this surgery (which is not going to help you with these issues AT ALL) that you might need to get some therapy to learn better and healthy habits. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh...I don't mean it to. I'm just a blunt tell it like it is kinda person....good luck to you and I really hope you can get some of these things figured out before you have your surgery so that you don't have anything to impede or hinder your success!
