nynewlywed got a reaction from laurenanastasia in being "perfect"
I forgot to add that i RELIGIOUSLY track everything that goes in my mouth. The good the bad and especially the ugly. It keeps me on track and keeps me aware of what i'm eating. It's handsdown the most important part of making this a lifetime commitment.

nynewlywed got a reaction from TheRealMeIsHere! in being "perfect"
As far as i'm concerned, not being "perfect" is why I have been so successful. I had my surgery Oct 8, 2013 and i am down 100 lbs (in about 5.5 months including pre-surgery diet).. I was extremely strict with pre-surgery restrictions and followed my post surgery instructions for a couple of months until my sleeve filly healed.
Now, i follow my guidelines during the week very strictly and on the weekends I allow myself a couple of cheat meals (but i still weigh my portions). Being able to have the foods I love on weekends is what makes the week bearable. Regardless I always get my 45 grams of Protein, 64 oz of Water and all Vitamin supplements in daily. I exercise 5-7 days a week (walking 30-60 minutes a day, nothing crazy). I have also started preparing my favorite meals in a more healthy manner.
As far as eating whatever you want but in smaller portions, as long as you get in all required nutrients and you aren't eating small meals all day long (ultimately consuming the same amount of food as before because you're always eating), you should be okay for that in maintenance. It's a different story when you're in the losing phase. This is just my opinion and not what a doctor would advise. I've made a real effort to make a lifestyle change and making the healthy choice 85-90% of the time and that is something i can stick to for the rest of my life.
Also, don't beat yourself up if you lose your shit and go crazy for a day or two. Just hop back on the plan the next day.

nynewlywed got a reaction from chefcoll in FitBit?
Hi all! I've never posted my own thread before but i'm looking for some imput on the FitBit. Does anyone else have this? Pros/cons? I like that it plays well with MFP which i use every day. My main concern is accuracy. How would it know the difference if i'm walking vs just moving my arm while working at my desk? It's expensive so i want to make sure it's a sound investment because i LOVE the idea. Thanks!

nynewlywed got a reaction from A_ReNUDE_me in Did any of you have food funerals prior to starting your preop diet?
I had a food festivus! My wonderful husband actually asked me what meals i wanted for dinner every night for 2 weeks and we planned out a schedule. Since i'm a vegitarian and my husband hates veggies, there were a lot of dishes i knew i could never have again (even as a bite from his) because he would never want/eat it.
1 week before surgery we went to Mexico for our wedding anniversary and i drank my face off. Funny thing is, it's been over 3 months since then and i really couldn't care less about not having alcohol.
It was cathartic for me to indulge and eat at excess for the last time ever. Don't feel guilty. This is a big step and it's forever, so do what you need to do to feel comfortable with your new life style.
I'm down 62 lbs from my heaviest and i'm 2 1/2 months post surgery and i don't regret a single fat meal i had before my pre-surgery diet. I never cheated on my pre-surgery diet, i was locked into the mindset. I allowed myself the time to go crazy, now it's time to get healthy and love how i look again.

I can't wait to have a new years resolution other than "lose weight" for the first time EVER in my life.
I also can't wait to be thinner than my mother so she stops giving me the nasty looks and looking me up and down as she sucks in her stomach EVERY TIME SHE SEES ME

2 1/2 moths out. Very thin hair, no Hair loss yet. I take extra Biotin out of fear of it coming out. I've heard that making sure you're getting your Protein in and drinking your fluids will also help prevent this. It's a scary possibility.

nynewlywed got a reaction from acubi2 in 3 days post op
Part of my recovery in the hospital was to get up and walk 4 laps around the entire floor every 2 hours. I got the hiccups during every walk. The nurses told me that was good because it was the gas coming out. If it is painful be sure to grab a pillow tightly around your stomach to keep everything from moving. When i had air caught i would walk and everytime i would put both arms up in the air (while walking) the gas would burp up.
