I think it's definitely the fried food.. I'm 11 months out and still haven't had anything deep fried save from a French fry or two on rare occasion.

I recently went on vacation and thought that my sleeve was on vacation too. It wasn't. Please don't do what I did. You will be in pain and you will regret it. Learn from my mistakes.

Happy to post..... When did you have surgery? I had surgery 11/18 and have felt like a new woman since, I had no problem eating and drinking whatsoever!!! Well, I hit a snag 2 nights ago ready for the 5-week phase, and had some crockpot chicken with mushroom sauce. Moist and mushy. Problem, I ATE TOO FAST AND DID NOT CHEW WELL. Got a little lax. It sat in the middle of my chest, making me uncomfortable til 3 pm yesterday, when I finally decided to eat 4 bites of yogurt. The yogurt apparently got stuck on the chicken lodged some where in there.
After 5 minutes of scary running around cant breathe panic call rescue mode, I felt it slide on down. I learned tonight at a meeting at the hospital this is common. So let my experience help you to eat slowly and know why you are eating slowly, and chew chew chew. My doctor said today we should be eating one meal a day and eat only when hungry. I have been overeating. Because I have been doing so well. Stay by the rules!!!!!!!

Our rule is nothing to drink 30 minutes before and after a meal. She meant drink in between eating times, not immediately after.... You will have very painful dumping issues if you drink while you eat, I am told. Best wishes!

Hello all. I am a December gastric bypass post op. I originally had the gastric sleeve surgery on September 2nd 2013. I was having horrible acid reflux that was resulting to me aspirating gastric acid almost every night. So, I just had a revision surgery to the gastric bypass on December 10th 2013.

I have no advice but this post made me giggle! Lol hope it gets better soon

Listen ANY surgery comes with risks but so does living your life morbidly obese.

Pierced, Small world lol! We went to the first peer to peer group tonight, Probably 15 people. We are 66 and 67. Most people there were older than you. Some had surgery, some had not. Hardly got to know anyone there, the way it was set up. They have a www.facebook.com/stvincentsweightloss on FB I want to look at. My thought is to go to several of these meetings and see if we can get to know the people a little better and try to form a group. My husband and I have not told anyone about our surgery because we do not feel the need to share.
My husband has more health issues than I do, and he is 2 weeks post op, with diabetes and fighting low blood pressure problem right now. I will friend you and lets please stay in touch. Maybe after the holidays we can come up with a plan.

Proud for you!!!! After my 11/18 surgery I am off metformin, and my husband, long time diabetic, is 2 weeks post op and praying for a miracle off the insulin! Keep up the great work, so worth it!!!!

I have heard from several vets on here that your face may fill in again given time. The fat in your body can redistribute and the skin of your face can firm up a bit. Me? I'd trade my fat ass for a thin face, personally.

I am new to the post op side of this forum. I have read a lot of the threads. I am so scared to eat hardly anything because of the dumping and not knowing what to expect of my pouch feeling full. I just want to know if some people could post their stories of dumping and over eating.

Preop I was on oral meds taking metformin 500mg x4 daily along with gliclazide 30mg x2 daily for my T2 diabetes. Im only 10 days post op (down 30lbs in 20 days), and proud to say that my physician took me off all diabetic meds! This is great news as I've been T2 for almost 12 years!! *happy dance*

MaryMc, I don't know what your story is that you are not allowed to go to Mass, but I am here to be your friend and am a strong 67 year old woman who lived that life once. I was only allowed to do what he allowed, and I was 40 years old, not some kid. I found that backbone I mentioned after 4 years of intense hell, and have been married to the love and partner from heaven for 23 years. Your journey in this weight loss will make you a new person. I would love to keep knowing and communicating with you and Goldy during this wonderful new phase of your life. Cheers to the new Goldy and Mary Mc!

I also had surgery with Dr. Uchal, and he is a terrific surgeon. I LOVE the staff at his office, they make sure you are set, and understand everything along the way. My surgery was an emergency situation, I got the ok from insurance at 4pm on tuesday and had surgery at 6am on wed. When I lived in Chicago and was banded, we had a group that met monthly, it was informal, usually at Panera, or Sweet Tomatoes type places, and it was more the chance to know people that had the same type of surgery, and also had to follow a similar diet. It was more a group of people developing a friendship, and less about the support group setting. We discussed surgery, and progress but it was also a chance to discuss our lives, work, kids etc. I have issues getting to the support group at the hospital, since I have a middle school aged child, and between getting dinner done, help with homework, and then getting to the meeting from the westside, and back I don't have time to get everything done. I had surgery in May, and am past my goal at this point. Last time I saw Dr, Uchal, I was still 140, and he was thrilled. When I said I wanted to lose another 5 pounds, he almost fell off his chair. I told him I didn't do this surgery to squeek my way into a healthy BMI, I wanted to be in the middle or lower end of healthy. That way if I over indulged on vacation, or over the holidays, I still would be ok. He was glad I am so motivated, and said most people only want to get to the "healthy" range and then they are happy to stop. I've always been one of those people that is not happy with being average. I'm a perfectionist, and an overachiever so he was surprised that I was so determined to get to a size/weight that I would be happy with. I wanted to be a size 10, and now I'm approaching an 8 and couldn't be happier.

Linda -- do you think you ate too close to bedtime? My NUT said to eat no closer than 2 hours to bedtime or misery will ensue. Wonder if that might be part of this. Your chicken sounds moist and delish. Hope it soon becomes tolerable!

Weirdly enough, this is kind of reassuring to me. . .I'm also about one month out and have been wonderingly (jokingly!) if I actually had the surgery too, because I haven't felt any pain, haven't had trouble swallowing or ANYTHING! Was worried maybe the surgery didn't "take." Glad to know that I am not alone, there. In all seriousness, I can't imagine how terrifying that must have been for you. I'm glad you're okay now, though! And thanks for sharing this - I will remember not to get too comfortable in thinking that my pouch is healed.

We are all in here to learn the good, bad, and the ugly, and your post is a good warning to keep in mind when something is just so delicious that nothing else matters. Haha. Like just about everything for me right now, in my liquid phase.
I swear I could lick the tv screen some days with these holiday food commercials.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I am just over a week post-op, and started puree foods for the first time yesterday. I was SHOCKED when I realized (and found out the hard way), that I could only eat about a teaspoon comfortably.

Well over all things have been good with my relationship. But at times due to my rapid changes and our schedules we have had periods where we are not at our best. I would not over think it. It gets better. I'm planning things like buying new sexy underwear to get back on top I mean track. To spruce up things.
Wait are we in the powder room. Lol

Essence, my advice to you is to be positive. I feel the procedure (11/18) was 10 times easier than I expected. I spent 1 night in the hospital and had 1 dose of pain medication since I went home. I have more energy and was shopping 4 days after surgery, but being careful. One month post op, I stay out shopping 4-5 hours, when before surgery I barely would leave my house. I feel wonderful.
I had a little episode this week from not chewing long enough, and eating faster than I should. I strongly caution you to follow the guidelines of your doctor and don't be adventurous, it will bite you, LOL!!

Good luck, Raine! This is my first time writing too even though I've been following it for several weeks. My date is December 26 so it will be a Christmas present for me too. Hope it all goes well.
