I always like to tell this story, 'cause it makes me laugh. The aesthetician asked me to count backwards from 100, so I started counting.
    100
    99
    98
    :
    zzz (surgery)
    :
    97 (woke up)
    96
    ohhh, my throat hurts!
I woke up from surgery still counting. My throat hurt from being intubated and they gave me a sponge thingy to suck on which relieved the throat thing a bit. Shot of pain meds and I was all good!

    Things I will not miss......
    1) having to wear long shorts so my thighs don't chafe
    2) not wearing knee high boot
    3) wearing ugly bras
    4) not being able to borrow clothes from my friends
    5) the struggle to shave my legs in the shower
    6) leaving clothing stores crying or just pissed off
    7) sweating while getting dressed and doing my hair and make up

So Monday will be 9 months since my surgery (Surgery date was Jan 21st.). I started at 360lbs with a 54bmi. Was in 4XL shirts and size 44-46 pants/shorts. After 9 months I have lost 140lbs now weighing 220lbs and my bmi is right around 30ish. I am now in a XL shirts and in a size 32 pants/shorts.
I workout almost everyday of the week from running, the gym, and Jiu-Jitsu.
If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask. I am very open and love to help.

Just a quick update. Finally broke another zero and am in the 150s- 20 lbs to go! Starting to squeeze into size 8 but 10s are still comfy. Here's a pic from the weekend. The red dress is flowey but it still said "small" on the label! Who would have thought that the word small and I would ever be in the same sentence? How's everyone else doing?

Surgery day I was 222. Today Im 145 and my skin is ok. My arms sag a little bit (I just dont wear sleeveless things too often), my butt sags a little bit but yoga helps that, my 'girls' sag a little bit because I lost a lot of mass (went from a 44D to a 38C) but fitting into size 8 skinny jeans and a medium top, being healthy, being able to zip knee high boots, being healthy, etc is worth every single sagging skin cell!!!

jessl29 reacted to piercedqt78 in 5 months post-op with pics trying to decide on final goal
So I was a lap band revision, and had to have emergency surgery. I was never given a "goal weight". I have lost 61 pounds since my revision, and 98 pounds from the time I was banded in 2005. My original goal was 135, and I am currently at 146-148. I'm thinking of moving my goal to 125. I'm 5'5 and currently wear a size 10 or 12 depending on the brand and fit. The first pic was before my revision, taken June 2012, the second (black top) was taken about 6 weeks postop, June 2013. And the last few were taken yesterday at my cousin's wedding. And that is my beautiful 12 year old daughter with me. She caught the bouquet.

I've had two c-sections and getting sleeved was much easier (so far.) I'm only three days out but the pain is way easier to manage then after a c-section.

Congrats to you!! 2 miles is a huge accomplishment. Way to stick it out when it's the HARDEST. I find its way easier to do. Is it because I'm in better shape? Is it because I weigh a lot less? Probably both. you will be amazed at how easy it gets. Keep at it IF you truly enjoy it as exercise.

Its fantastic!!!! I run a 5K three days a week now! Pushing through some hip and knee pain (which stinks) but I dont want to quit! Keep it up! It will be so much easier when you have all that weight off of you!

Started running 2 months before my surgery. Let me tell you it's not easy but I have pushed though the shin splints. I really like running I'm sick of shin splints and hoping will ease up and I will get faster after being sleeved. I can run 2 miles now without a break and did a 5K last month(not fast at all). How much easier is it getting for all you post opers?

jessl29 reacted to Momonanomo in A hair loss theory
My surgery was 5/22/13, and I haven't had Hair loss (I'm like you though -- every time the subject comes up, I admit that it could start tomorrow by the handfuls!)
My theory has been that I was able to get my Protein and Fluid intake up right after surgery, as well as my calories up to around 1000 early on, by consuming some healthy fats every day (yay avocados!). I use the same Shampoo I always have (redken), because I figure that any hair loss is going to be at scalp level and not the result of breakage.
I also still do consume Protein Shakes every day.
I still won't be all that surprised if I actually DO end up shedding a bit -- it seems to be the norm for WLS. Every week I am surprised it hasn't started yet, and now lately I wonder if I might get through this without the thinning hair. I won't mind if it happens, because it will grow back. I obviously won't mind if it doesn't happen at all though! Only time will tell.....I figure if I get to my 7th month post surgery I'm in the clear.

Its sad when you tell your own mother and the first thing comes out her mouth is about someone else who had the bypass having complications. First off I said sleeve but all she heard was weight loss surgery and instantly spoke negativity. So that is a done deal I will never bring it up or speak to her about it. My husband and children know and my true friends which all have been supportive. Outside of that i'm not saying a word. That goes for work too! I'm just going to watch them try to catch up thinking diet and excerise was all it took. lol I'm so bad and love it!
