October Buddies wanted
Don't worry Amylynns, I have zero motivation as well. I wonder if it has to do with how tired I've been lately. I'm sure once the weight comes off you'll have more energy and motivation to work out better.

I had a nightmare!
Hey NC Girl, sorry for the slow response. I'm doing okay. That was the only nightmare I had, I've had no others since then. I'm getting excited! I started a self induced liquid diet today, wasn't too bad, did get really hungry at 7 pm though. I have my pre op physical tomorrow with the last blood work, then it's on to surgery. Thursday can't get here soon enough for me now!

Relationships
I haven't had the RNY yet, 4 days away. I have had the lap band and when I lost, about 30 lbs everything was fine. I think as long as your husband is on board with you losing and doesn't try to sabotage you it will all work out. My husband is diabetic so really our food choices will have to be the same, low carb, sugar free ect. It will be easy for me. Maybe when he sees you doing so well, it will motivate him to do better! Good luck!

6 months and 100lbs
Congrats. As a fellow asthma person I find that I can do other cardiovascular things that don't involve running. Like I can do most classes without having shortness of breath.

11 days post op!
October 2nd for me. Can I say I'm happy I won't be able to eat Halloween candy this year!

looking into getting gastric bypass
Alzheimers disease? Beni, my insurance doesn't have a minimum diet wait, it is my hospitals program. They would have approved me long ago.

I feel bloated
The fuzzy navel was okay. The cappuccino tasted pretty good. Almost like a treat.

So encouraged
So I have a friend who has RNY in 2009. She started off at 410 pounds and at surgery day she was 398 pounds. 6 months later she was 185 pounds. She was telling me all about how she felt and how everything worked for her. She felt she was losing too fast and was scared and nervous. She also wasn't use to being able to feel her bones or other people feeling them either. She was losing more down to 174 lbs and felt she was losing too much, so she asked her doctor about gaining back up to 185 lbs. She has stayed within 10 lbs of this weight for the last 4 years, she has recently gone back down to 175 lbs after she had a tummy tuck. She hasn't had any complications besides 1 stuck moment because she ate taco salad too soon, she said she was 8 weeks out at that time. I'm so lucky to have someone who has already done this and been successful to be around to help. So with her story I'm even more encouraged and happy to move on with this journey.

October Surgery Date
I'm sorry Karen Allen, I know how it feels to be depressed. This road is not an easy one, couple that with every day to day family problems can easily lead to stress eating. Good thing is its not the end of the world and just think at least you didn't go on a binge. Do you have a running stroller? That may help with your grandson, so he can go and you don't have to worry about how far he can walk or not.

October Surgery Date
Well I searched the net for the sample packs because I hate the taste of most protein. I hate the gritty feel of protein as well. I ordered from smart body nutrition. There are 15 flavors of Nectar most to be mixed with water. So far I've tried vanilla, strawberry, and ice tea. They taste like they are supposed to, no gritty taste, goes down smooth. My only complaint is the smell, it smells exactly how formula smells, but I can deal with that by drinking it in a bottle instead of a cup SO I don't have to smell it. I liked the flavors so far. I like the fact that I can try all their flavors before committing to one or two of them.

Insurance Approval... How long?
Wow, mine is super fast. I have preferred one. They took 4 days for approval.

October Surgery Date
Ok, so I posted in the nutrition section but I bought some fair life milk which has 13 g of protein per serving, they come in skim, 2% regular and choclate. I mixed it with nectar protein powder(23 g protein). So I did 12 oz milk and the protein packet 2 days ago. I drank it right before bed and it seriously lasted me until noon. It was insane. I think it might have been a little too much protein at one time (43 g all together) because I felt seriously bloated. I was not hungry at all! I feel that if I happen to get really hungry on my self induced liquid diet phase that I will do that same thing again. I maintained my water intake so I wasn't dehydrated at all. I got about 90 oz in that day.

I feel bloated
I swear I consumed too much protein last night. I was hungry after working ( I work 3-11:30pm) and didn't want to eat so I mixed a Nectar protein(23 g of protein) with Fair Life (13 g of protein) milk. Man, I haven't been hungry all day and have felt a bit heavy and bloated. This is the last time I'm doing that, apparently that was a bit too much for me at one time.

Sleeve Vs Bypass... How did you decide?
I am a band revisionist. I really wished I had done the other surgeries before I decided on the band. The band wasn't a good fit for my body or life. I am 6 days away from surgery for RNY and I am honestly at peace with it, just nervous and anxious about getting it done already! I say think long and hard, do your research and whatever makes your heart, gut, your feels (what ever you call it) feel at peace then that is the right choice. When you make your mind and are prepared for the good and bad, you come out better in the end.

REVISION to Bypass
Hi, it's been a few days since you've had the surgery. How do you feel? I'm being revised Oct 2nd and am nervous and excited at the same time.

October Surgery Date
Beni- how are you going to keep yourself full? I know my head hunger will get the best of me. I will also have to pre make my kids food so I'm not standing by a stove all day. I will probably do that Friday or Saturday.

October Surgery Date
I will also post before surgery pics with my weight and measurements. I'm hoping this will keep me more motivated in this whole journey. I think I will also make my husband hide the scale while I'm in the hospital so I won't be tempted to weigh myself for a while. I kind of want to keep it to once every 2 weeks. I actually want to have him keep the scales in his car truck. That way I would physically have to go outside everytime I want to weigh myself.

October Surgery Date
I only have a pre op diet for the day before surgery. However I might extend it on my own and do 5 days liquid diet, 4 days full with 1 day clear for the day before surgery. Today is my last day of work until my surgery, YAY! HOwever my middle child's birthday party is this weekend. Im going to try really, really hard to not over do anything. I am going on my liquid fest on Sunday. 7 days until my Surgery, Can't wait for it all to be over.

October Surgery Date
Hey Amylynns, yes I'm it removed and RNY all at once. My surgeon never specified that he wouldn't be able to do it, my band has not slipped even though I was vomiting daily before the fluid was let out. I've had fluid out of the band for 7 months now so that might help with inflammation. I guess as long as I don't have extreme scar tissue it should all work out. I have friends that eat like birds and they all have been supportive and knows I'm having the surgery. I'm sure we could find plenty of things that don't revolve around food.

October Surgery Date
Oh I do indeed know. Lucky for me my 4 year old hates being picked up so I only have to worry about my 15 month old. The doctor told me I can only lift 20lbs and he is about the same weight give or take a pound of flux. He was also the kid I carried in a carrier so I can also place that very carefully on my back and get moving. I'm not planning on venturing out anywhere with my children until I'm 2-3 weeks post op anyway. I'm taking at least a month off so I'm trying to relax as much as possible. There is a group by month and year surgery here. You just have to look it up.

Terrified
12 days! I have 12 days to come to terms with my new life. I thought I was through 5 years ago with the band alas here I am again. Good luck to you all, I know Im going to need it.

October Buddies wanted
October here too, the second. From forms being submitted for aprroval and to schedule surgery date was 4 days, I have fast approval insurance. My surgeon was booked all of Spetember plus my son's 4th birthday was coming so I didn't want to be gorked out on pain meds for his day.

October Surgery Date
You two have such a thing going I dont want to disrupt it. I too am having surgery in October. The second for me. Just like amylynns I have had lap band surgery. She was more successful than I. I lost about 25 lbs, put all that back on plus 20. Sad I know. I still have the band and will revise straight to the RNY. I have 3 littles, my oldest being 8 and my youngest 15 months. My husband will be around for 2 days after my surgery but someone has to make the bacon while I'm down for the count. I should do fine with my youngest two, my 4 year old will be in preschool in the mornings so I only have to deal with them both for 4 hours each weekday as my husband gets home from work at 3 pm. I can't wait to be done with this journey and see onederland again. Good luck ladies!
