  1. So I was approved for surgery and scheduled 10/2 and I had the most horrible nightmare. I deamt that they called me to cancel my surgery. In my dream I cried so hard and was so devistated. Im still so nervous since it is 12 days away. I am maintaining under my weight but it still seems so hard. 12 days seems so quick yet so far away. On top of all of that I have to host my son's 4th birthday party 5 days before surgery. I dont really care for cake but we will be BBQing. Gotta stay on the strait and narrow. Anyone have these type of bad dreams before surgery?
  2. This post is amazing. I'm going in 10/2 and weigh around 246- 247lbs. I have about 100 lbs to lose and this was so encouraging. Nervous as heck but so excited at the same time. You all look so wonderful!
  3. Mine is Oct 2nd. Can't wait until the day gets here. Good luck on your soon approaching surgery and recovery.
  4. I think the people who have to wait are the ones with a lot of scar tissue or damage from the band itself. Yes a revision is what the procedure I'm having is called. I'm hoping one operation for mine. My surgeon didn't say he wouldn't do it in one go, he is also going to check out my gallbladder to see if that needs to come out as well. My band is still a funny acting thing even with it unfilled. I just want a normal feeling stomach once again, which is what most revised patients from lap band feel like after having the RNY. I just can't wait to be on that losers bench!
  5. At least 4 weeks. I'm a cna and lift heavy, I wouldn't go back before then. Even when I had the lap band and felt normal, I still took the 4 weeks. Gives you time to recover, process how you are handling things, prepare yourself for new food plans, prepares you for reactions once you go back and a host of other things.
  6. Hi Polly, I am revising from lap band to RNY on Oct 2nd. I can hardly wait, 16 days to go. I have had the lap band since 2009 and it has been an experience, to say the least. I hope you get all the answers you need from your PA.
  7. I'm October 2nd here. Right now just trying to maintain my weight loss. Finding some really good protein shakes and keeping myself occupied for the next 2 1/2 weeks. So excited!
  8. I'm October 2nd. Can't wait, good luck to you!
  9. October 2nd for me!
  10. So I believe that the tipping scale to my weight from 150 to 220 in less than a year was due to depo provera. I took the birth control in my teens and stopped it in a year. Haven't been able to lose down in the 10 years since I gained it plus 30 lbs of my own doing. Since my husband and I aren't trying to have anymore kids right now and I don't take pills well (forget) I only have a few choices. My question is if you gained on something similar to depo provera or the thing in your arm, have you regained using the same birth control. I really want to prevent pregnancy for at least a year. Thanks!
  11. Looking into this journey if I have my surgery in October I will be 6 months post op when I turn 30! Just wondering what you all l p St in 6 months time? I did have the lap band back in 2009 and going in for a revision. Waiting on approval right now! I can't wait to enter my 3's much healthier than I did in my 20's
  12. Update. They have finally put my stuff into insurance. Waiting on the call that I'm approved. If I am, I'm hoping for 9/30 or 10/1-10/2 date. I'm feeling better about the RNY just nervous about surgery now. So waiting to be done as even without a fill I sometimes get stuck.
  13. I work as a CNA in a hospital. I have yet to book my surgery but I plan on taking off the day before to prepare. Because of my physically demanding job I have to stay out between 4-6weeks. It is very stressful at my job at the moment because it's been so busy and it is difficult to stay on track with all the stressers and Snacks around the place. Good luck!
  14. I don't have pcos and have had the bypass yet but losing 41lbs in less than 4 months seems like Amazing accomplishment! Keep up the good work!
  15. Hello! I'm a revisionist too except mine is from Lap-Band. I'm sorry you have a really crazy schedule. Is there anyway your boss, or someone else in the office take your duties for the days you have scheduled? It seems that if they are going to be okay for the two weeks you are out of work that they should be able to work around your post op appointments. Also why are they scheduling your post op appointments so soon? I would have figured they would at least wait a week or two right before your surgery to schedule them since schedules can change so much in that time frame. Mine has changed 3 times for hopefully my last NUT appointment this past week alone. One more thing, can you Boss give you a half day on the appointment days? Maybe that would cut down on the snarky behavior that the staff have, personally I would be leary to work with them in the future if they are going to be nasty like that, your insurance is covering their jobs, the least they can do is be nice! It sucks when health care professionals arent being professional, being that I am one I say this with tremendious regret.
  16. Post op hair loss, I know we will all lose some hair but I wanted to know how much you all lost. I had my last relaxer 9/13 and I transistioned until 2/14 when I did the big chop. Since I have very little hair on my head about 5" in the longest spots I don't want to be balding. It's hard to hide hair loss when you don't have that much to begin with. Was the hair loss really that bad or is it more like shedding after you have a baby when your hormones return to normal?
  17. Since the post about an ex-friend's fat acceptance and weight loss surgery, I wanted to know what you all think about fat acceptance? Being we were/are all fat at one point in time we can understand how they feel. Some of the bloggers I have come across who promote fat acceptance seem down right mean to previously fat or fat wanting a change people( like us). It boggles my mind how they feel attacked on so many levels yet do the same to previously fat/ fat wanting to change people. If promoting self love wouldn't it be even better to promote everyone loving theirselves in all decisions they try to make even if it is something so dangerous and extreme as WLS, to make themselves feel better, and achieveing self love? Sorry for my mini rant but it seems like no matter where we turn, wls is considered the devil in action, damned if we do and damned if we don't. What are your thoughts on it?
  18. Zip lining sounds fun! I am planning my honeymoon after 3 years finally and wouldn't mind that being on our itinerary.
  19. Ehh, I don't see the big deal, however I am from an entirely different group that is represented a lot in the wrong light. I see it as if she wants to play that role, and other people want to play on their stereotypes then to each their own. I for one am never stupid or the stereotype my group of people are portrayed as. If someone isn't truly biased and open when they see you then they will know that her characters don't represent all overweight women, if not then you really didn't need their company anyways.
  20. I was never really below a size 11/12 as a teen and was about 150. I'm pretty short at 5'2". My goal is about 145-150 although I wouldn't mind getting into the 130's. I want to get to a size 8. Mostly though I want to be rid of my many asthma attacks during the summer and TMI Alert: my spastic bladder problems. Otherwise I ultametly want to settle below 150 after the regain.
  21. As I am finishing up with things in preparation of revising from the Lap-Band to gastric bypass I was doing my psych eval. I was asked what would I want to do once I was at a healthy weight. I said the usual things of playing with my children without being overly tired, riding a roller coaster comfortably, ect. I began to really start thinking about what I really wanted to do that I never had the confidence to do due to my weight. So I wanted to ask what is some of your non scale bucket list type of things that you always wanted to do but was too weak, heavy,or embarassed of your size to do? I guess since I asked I will go first. 1) I want to do a couch to 5K run, or a color run with my daughter. 2) I have always admired dancers and have always wanted to take classes like contemporary, hip hop, ballroom dance, I want to be able to take my non dancing abilities and hone them into something amazing for me. That's all I've got for right now but would love to hear some of yours!
  22. My husband and I have been together for 12 years. Since I was 17 and he was 19. I was 145 pounds when we met, he was closer to 180. We grew fat together me being 250 and him 265 lbs. He got diabetes and lost 60-70 lbs, he bounces from 190-205 depending on how his diabetes is. I'm hoping we grow thin and old together too, he married me 3 years ago (anniversary was on the 11th) and I was about 240 lbs and 2 children in around then. I believe he has loved me fat and thin, just like I have him. I know in my hearts of hearts that no one in my life can compare to him and I wouldn't trade him in for the world, I know he feels the same.
  23. While. I agree somewhat to what a few other had said about the reporting of her blogs, I however see many people come here to complain about how this friend or family member doesn't support their decisions in one way or another. This is really no different in that term just a more public form of it. We rally around that person and tell them that that friend/family member is wrong and should be ashamed. Please remember though, her friend started all of this, she could have simply ended the friendship and moved on, instead she publicly humiliated the Poster. She continues to belittle and down the poster with the many attempts by blogging. What really gets me though, is the fact that she deletes any postings on her blog that disagree with her, and then call all the posters she did delete "fat haters". I honestly think true fat haters all spout the diet and exercise, and put down the fork sometimes crap I see all over the web. They will never understand our true struggles. I have a friend who is about 125 soaking wet and can eat 3x as much as I do. She however has never told me to put the fork down sometimes, or even mentioned my weight at all. Sorry for all the ramblings. Sharon: please dump the toxic and discover new friends, and a true sense of how you want people to treat you, I'm sure she has criticized you in more ways than just this wls and fat acceptance bs she is spouting.
  24. Havent had surgery yet, but keep your head up! Do you have someone who can hide the scale for a few weeks to a month? I know I have read that during stalls some people lose inches, maybe thats what youre doing now! I'm going to have my husband hide my scale from me for a month(harder than it seems) so I don't obsess over it. Maybe taking weekly pics and measurements will help keep you preoccupied. Good Luck, I know I'll need it too!
  25. I haven't revised yet but I have to repeat the whole process all over again. That is standard where I live, MN. My insurance is different than yours and I would look at the policy to make sure they don't have a once a lifetime bariatric surgery clause. Although I don't have the required 3-6 month diet, my insurance doesn't require it, that might be something you have to do as well. My band only provided me a 23lb loss and I frequently would get stuck, so much that I had and still do have some anxiety(unfilled) that foods will get stuck. I used to dread eating for fear of it coming back up. Hopefully your process is a smooth one.
