  1. I'm going to do the patch, IUD's were no Bueno for me. I believe the depo provera got me in my situation in the first place I was a normal bmi before I got on it as a teenager. I'm loathe to birth control but it has to be for now
  2. So I have a bit of nausea but I'm sure I ate a bit too mich, it was only 1/2C but I don't think I'm going to be able to get anymore of that in without feeling this way for a while. Who knew, half a cup could fill up someone so much. Now I have to wait an hour or so before I take my last pills of the day. A note to all, take your pills before your meals, otherwise it might be hard to get them in once you move from the full liquid stage.
  3. Good luck tomorrow Gladiators! You will all come out fine. Sending painless, gas painless, and easy recovery vibes your way!
  4. Here are my incisions. I have many, my doc couldn't use all of my old ones from the lap band so he had to make a few new ones. I have 6 of them.
  5. I went to the same office. I had Dr. Luis Laguna. Small world!
  6. I would but the problem is that we are color coded now. So my only choice is to wear maroon, all the time. I usually don't see this color or any solid colors besides blue at the thrift stores. The only upside is my hospital provides us with some money for scrubs, not much but $100 is better than nothing.

  8. I think a lot of us worry whether we are doing the right thing or not. I was nervous going in the OR, still at 2 weeks out feeling nervous for my life ahead of me. I think once all our weight related complications begin to disappear, we love what we have done. I have read from multiple people on this forum that they really love their decision at 3-6 months out from surgery.
  9. You all can keep the snow! I live in MN and that polar vortex crap was for the birds. My kid stayed out of school about 2 weeks last winter.
  10. I know you're healing but maybe have someone drive you down to the actual program place you went to. Then demand they help you while you're there. It seems like they are dodging calls and being there will make them have some type of responsibility. I'm sorry you have to go through all of this.
  11. Take it easy. I was in so much pain 5 days post op due to having to drive to my first appointment and taking my kids with me. My BP was up. You'll get there eventually. Remember I told you to get help, You RN's are so stubnorn, sheesh.
  12. I'm able to take in more than a sip of water now, I still try to sip though. Now I get extra thirsty after my meals since I can't drink with them anymore. That's when I usually take in more than a sip, I also feel I have to wait 45 to an hour after a meal because if before that I feel extra full.
  13. Oh I take longer than the 30 minutes. I am going super slow. If this is my dumping, I'll take it over others I've seen. I was really warm with tuna and low fat mayo because the tuna is so dry, again with the beans, not as severe as the tuna. I haven't had any tuna today so we shall see. It happened last week but I wasn't consuming anything that would cause dumping since I changed up my protein.
  14. I've told plenty of people about my decision. I'm a revision patient so many knew that the lap band didn't work for me. I haven't had one negative comment towards me so far, I've had many say they would never, ever get it done, one who is bigger than I. I own it, I need it. My mom has struggled with her weight the majority of her life, she is diabetic, has had a heart attack at 46, has had a stroke at 34. I inherited all those pre existing conditions from her. My maternal grandmother's family have died young, she died. There was 7 of them and now there are 3 left. All with some form of pre existing conditions that my mother has. I'm not playing around with my health, I'm already pre diabetic (before surgery), my knees were hurting, my legs were becoming swollen, I'm not even 30 yet, still have 6 months to go. I have 3 kids that I want to enjoy to the fullest, I want to be able to not be tired from playing with them. I want them to lead a healthy life so that they may prevent some of the conditions my mother has had to endure. I don't care what anyone says, this is not their body or their life, this is mine.
  15. How many pounds did it take to go down a scrub size? I'm 2 weeks post op and down 21lbs from my highest weight. I wear 2x scrubs, I still have 2 weeks to be home and I'm wondering if I should go out to get new sizes now or wait until after I start back working. They were kind of falling off of me then so I'm sure I might be swimming in them come time to start working. What did you do?
  16. So I have a weird side effect, nothing bad. After I eat, I get really warm, not sweaty just warm. I assume it's my metabolism ramping up.
  17. Today's lunch, refried beans mixed with a little milk to thin it out some and 1 packet low sodium taco seasoning for flavor. 1/2C serving, I don't think I'll finish the whole thing.
  18. Boo, I'm allergic to mushrooms so I couldn't get it at the time. I got cream of broccoli instead.
  19. Ugh, I sent in for my fmla, and my short term disability on the 6th and 9th respectively. It has been 10 days since I filed the forms with the surgeons office to approve my fmla through my job and my job has done nothing, Nothing to it at all. Without those forms I can't get approved for my short term disability. I'm about to go up there and raise he'll since they were getting snippy with me about filing the forms in the first place.
  20. There are foam things you can buy to help alleviate pain. Often there are in medical supply stores. I often see them with wheel chair bound patients to perserve their skin. I would look into that.
  21. Congrats! Can't wait to get there either. How far out are you? What was your starting weight/surgery weight?
  22. I felt a million times better after they got rid of the pain pump. It was making me dizzy, nauseated, and light headed. As soon as it was out of my system I immediately felt better and the liquid pain meds did an effective enough job to keep the pain at bay. I actually told my surgeon I wanted the pca gone because I think it was causing all those problems for me. I got it out half an hour later.
  23. I agree with Beni, I just has my first "meal" since surgery, it was 1/2C of cottage cheese and I still didn't eat all of it. That was an experience, one I probably won't ever forget.
  24. Okay, so today I get to eat things. It was like heaven opened up its gates and shined down upon me. I played it safe and mashed up some cottage cheese with salt and pepper and took a little longer than 30 minutes to eat it because I was also feeding my kids. I've noticed before surgery that my nose runs when I'm full, well it did that today and I stopped shy of 1/2C of food. I used a small saucer type plate and mashed up the meal looked huge to me. I know when I have more regular food it will look smaller but I know my tummy isn't all that big anymore. The NUT said I could go to 3/4 C but I don't know how I'd be able to do that at this point. It is lovely to not be ruled by the hormone that makes you hungry.
  25. Bronx, I think they fixed my period too, it was so heavy, now it is lighter and I haven't gained at all, I lost a few pounds since it's come. I usually gain 5+lbs, and I swear the staff must have thought I was lying one time except I came back 2 weeks after I had it and was down 3-4lbs.
