  1. Hi this is flower thanks for all the support. The fact of the matter is that I probably have lost 300 - 400 pounds in my life BUT have always gained it back its embarrasing you feel like a failure each and every time and you are ALWAYS on a diet I am sick of it I want to lose it and take it off for GOOD I want to be normal or feel that I am normal I constantly don't want to think about how I look in relation to how I feel I want to wear nice clothes I want to feel confident I want to play with my children I hope this all works out and I love talking to all of you good luck with everything you are striving for.
  2. Haven't been banded yet but would like to know what the feeling is when you are full is it a feeling of fullness or do you feel a tightness or a pain I have never felt a fullness feeling and am worried I will overeat and PB or worse please let me know
  3. I heard that you can submit a bid for approval again you might have to document consequences such as rashes, chafing , yeast infections you have to keep fighting the sqeaky wheel gets what they want.

Hi I was talking to my friend about getting lap band and I told her that you lose 1-2 pounds a week and then she says you could do that on weight watchers then I said but this makes you keep it off then she proceeded to say well what about your legs their not normal even when you were skinny they were big. thats why I tend not to tell many people about surgery
  5. Just wanted to hear from all the people that are close to goal and what were their triumphs and successes along the way I'm sure everyone wants to reach goal and need encouragement to get their.
  6. They say people usually lose 50 -60 percent of their extra body weight I guess it is just how diligent you are about sticking to your new way of eating.

There is a book that is very informative that explains every aspect of the lap band it is Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric banding achieving permanent weight loss with minimally invasive surgery Author Jessie H. Ahroni, Ph.d.,a.r.n.p. you might have to order from a book store but they can get it in 5-11 working days it really covers all aspects and really explains everything there is not many books out and it really help happy reading
  8. I think you should get a sub. YOu use your abdominal muscles to breath and to sing you need a lot of air, and you are not going to be up to par. You are recovering and you are going to be on a liquid diet its just too much stress.
  9. I haven't been banded but they told me it will probably take 4-5 adjustments to get the restriction and weight loss you expect great job.
  10. When you go to the beach and are totally sweating and you have to wear a long t shirt the whole day and go in the water with it on and have it dragging soaking wet and sticky on you all day.
  11. just wanted to know what kind of meats give people the most trouble with the band ie. beef, chicken, pork turkey processed meats thanks
  12. I lost weight before many times and they say the hardest weight to lose is the last 20 -15 pounds your body just doesn't want to get down and it really takes a long time to lose that final weight hang in there you did so well so far.
  13. Went to the surgeon yesterday and my paperwork is at bc bs new england ma for approval then I set up a date with the surgeon and I will be in band land so excited can't wait. the y said bc bs approves within 14 days so well see.
  14. bc bs of ma pays for it but i know it does differ from state to state it is best to call you insurance company directly and they will give you the answer you need.
  15. I myself have not told my mother about my decision to have the band. She will be very nervous and say I am being silly. She will be extremely nervous and will worry about it constantly. I feel I am being defiant but I really don't want all the negatism and anxiety that comes along with it. I eventually will have to tell her though because my surgery date is soon.
  16. Hi I was just wondering how many of you out their have a problem with bread? Or any type of carbohydrate like pasta, pretzels. I heard toasted bread is tolerated but I was wondering is people just never eat bread again after the band is in.??????
  17. For any bandsters that had trouble with slippage or erosion just wanted to know what were your symptoms before you were diagnosed with the above problems just worried about having this problems and not knowing that it is happening.
  18. Could you just give me an average on how long you all had to wait for approval from your insurance company after your initial meeting with the surgeon. Just wanted to get a general idea. In regards to such things as work, time-off, vacations schedules at work and so on.

  21. I was just wondering is their any special precautions you have to take if you are going to get any type of surgery done after you have the lap band done, and also do all medications pill form have to be switched to liquid form just thinking long term.

Hi I was just wondering for people who have insurance does the insurance pay for the fills after surgery or is that out of pocket I have blue cross blue sheild new england, and is also how many people are going to Mexico to get the lap band done do that many insurance companies not pay for the procedure.
  24. Haven't been banded yet but I am done with all my requirements pre surgery and it has been about 5 months so far I just have the consultation with the surgeon then my surgery will be scheduled I am going thru u-mass worcester.
  25. I heard mentioned eating egg drop soup early in the post band stage does anyone know how to make it. and also i read alot about pbs how often do all of you have these say on a weekly basis please let me know answers thanks all.
