    Hey everyone!
I had my surgery August 22nd, 2012 so I'm about 15 months post op. I've lost a total of 101 pounds and I feel great I started at 231 lbs. and now weigh 130 lbs.
At 23 years old, I feel like life can't get any better I've been maintaining for about 7-8 months. I feel so much healthier and more confident. I continue to exercise and make healthy choices to motivate myself to be the healthiest me that I can be. This journey has been one of the most humbling and challenging experiences of my life. I've surrounded myself with positive people who have supported me throughout this whole process.
I'm now participating in the "Bari-Buddy" system at the hospital I had my surgery at - getting paired with people who just had the surgery to be a support to them. It's been a great experience - both rewarding and inspiring to help support other people who are in the same position I was in 15 months ago.
Since the summer, I've graduated college and started a new job. I'm now an occupational therapist working in a pediatric setting. This is something I always wanted to do but I was always too intimidated to work with kids - because let's be honest...kids are a little too honest!! I am so grateful that I now have the confidence (and the energy!!) to help these kids achieve all of their goals.
I hope everyone is having lots of success and happiness Here are some before and after pictures!

I am almost a year post op and down 113lbs. Before surgery I was on dating sites and didn't really meet anyone. Got rejected alot. So I took myself off the sites when I got surgery last Nov. In April I decided to try again...I was upfront about my surgery in my profile, didn't want to hide it..I got replies, talked to some guys, met some weird creepy guys too. Then one day in May I got a message from a guy. He was a little bit older, like 7 years, but he seemed nice. I replied and we went back and forth for a couple of emails then he asked if we could meet for a drink. We did a week later and things clicked. I didn't analyze it I just lived in the now with him. We took things slow. Seeing each other, texting. To make a long story short we are still dating and I can honestly say that I really care for him. He knows about the surgery. He told me not to be ashamed about my excess tummy skin, he told me I was perfect. I have showed him old photos and he told me I was always beautiful. Still living in the now with him but I can see a future with him.

johannaes reacted to Madison in Success With PCOS
I started this topic to keep track of my success with VSG surgery while having severe PCOS (all the bad symptoms including excess hair, Hair loss, bad periods, cramps, pain in ovaries, mood swings). I noticed that there isn't too many information on the VSG experience with PCOS, so I thought I'd post this publicly for future sleevers curious about what to expect.
8 weeks post-op (10 weeks "dieting" if you include pre-op) my period seems to have normalized. I think this is due to the weight loss (55 lbs) but mostly to all the exercise I did. I started walking daily for 30-60 mins 2 weeks before the surgery, and kept it up afterwards. After a few weeks, I lowered it to 4-5 times a week.
The first 3-4 weeks after the surgery, I actually had pain in my ovaries (probably cysts). Eventually this went way.
2 weeks after the pre-op diet (and a day after my surgery) I noticed that a majority of my mood swings were gone. It felt like the unsteady cloud in my mind had finally been cleared. I attribute this to all the exercise and lack of carbs. I've noticed that the white sugary carbs have very negative effects with my PCOS. My weight loss so far has matched others (and even exceeded non-PCOSers!) but I notice it stalling if I have bread/pasta. I limit myself to half a serving of toast/whole wheat wrap and one serving of either crackers/pasta/potato per day. I usually have less but never more.
When I have my period, I don't get horrible PMS like before.
I have an appointment for laser hair removal next week, I will keep you updated on the experience/success. My past experience with American Laser Center was a waste of time and money with no results, so I am trying a different clinic.
This is strictly my experience and it will vary among us, but I truly think that the activity is what's really pushing me towards greater success. It's hard but anything helps. I will post more under this topic in the upcoming weeks to let you know of further progress!

This is my first post and I just wanted to get the pictures over with.My Surgery date was August 8 and I weighed 252.My CW is 220 and my next weigh in is in 4weeks on Nov.11.My doctor wants me to be 200 by then.I struggle everyday and seem to do better the days I work because I'm away from the house! When I'm at home I'm less active because I'm sooo tired!Anyway here's my pictures!I posted them on my FB page thinking no one would really be able to tell a difference because when I look in the mirror I don't see the loss everyone else does! The first picture was taken my Anniversary July 23 and the other Oct15.

Just wanted to share... I was sleeved on the 19th and was cleared yesterday to move onto puréed foods. I bought a rotisserie chicken and shredded and blended the chicken, and then added very little light mayo, garlic & onion powder, and salt n pepper, and it tastes like chicken salad... Super quick, easy, something different and gets in some Protein. Thought I'd share for those getting tired of the same old.

I went out with my gf's a few nights ago and felt so incredibly sexy! I had on new jeans (size 14) and an adorable jacket (size XL) with some new knee-high boots. For the very first time, I felt normal. I wasn't the 'fat girl' of my group and felt ELATED! I loved getting up and walking around, just so people could see me And I loved when my friend said, 'You don't waddle anymore.' And I overheard another telling a friend, 'She really looks good!' It's so great to have the support of my friends and to hear people saying how great I look. I feel absolutely amazing! My 'fat girl mentality' is slowly leaving, never thought I could look & feel so good!

You're only 2 weeks post-op right? Your sleeve is still swollen so that's fairly common. It will ease up with time.

For the pain in the showlders my mom gave me a muscle rub and it worked great! Also I had some headache and fever, I took my med (hydrocodone-acetaminophen syrup) and that took care of it. Also if there was some headache I had some muscle rub in my forehead and done!
