  1. I'm preop so as a final procedure I had a EGD done today and the MD found out I have erosion in lower esophagus from GERD...now I have known something was going on for some time, but have never taken any meds for it. Now I am afraid when I go to my final appt on 10/15/13 to schedule surgery, he may decline it due to this one factor..btw...my insurance company already approved the surgery. I may just be freaking out, but would love to hear from some veterans on this issue...and find out if the GERD got worse after sleeve and how they've coped...
  2. Dallagal...thanks for the EM info. .I had it done today...as you advised it wasn't as bad as I anticipated, Thanks againfor looking out for a fraidy cat!
  3. You look amazing..keep up the great work
  4. Congratulations! Work that sleeve girl!!!
  5. You look great keep up the good work
  6. Question for ALL of you who posted on this topic...Would you say that post ok eating is a bit of a trial & error as each person had to see what they can tolerate? So depressing to know ther isnt anyway to know in advance of either getting sick or having those Gosh awful "slims" that many of you speak of :-(
  7. I'm still pre op but trying to be proactive. I want to reach out to a few companiesfor possible samples do that I don't waste my money if they don't agree with my tummy post up. I figure it's good business for the company, cuz if I like them then I will certainly be s customer for life...anyone know of any good ones to reach out to?
  8. Hey me too! Whoot-Whoot...by Christmas we will be 30 days out and prayerfully feeling good!
  9. yeah...what she said...lol. oh and plus I'm a 42 yo with type II diabetes, highblood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea & asthma...I raised my two children ages 25 & 22 as a single mom, I never put myself as a priority during thier childhood, because life wouldn't allow it. I became depressed with the struggle of raising my kids alone and used food as my emotional crutch...I have decided that it's time for me to focus on myself and I really want to be healthy by the time my children figure out thier life path and settle down and make me a "glam-ma" one day! Whew..that was therapeutic LOL
  10. Wow..you look awesome...work that sleeve girl!!!!
  11. I'm excited for you...I'm pre op hoping to be sleeved in mid November...wishing you great success in your preop diet phase...one small suggestion I'm trying to get in habit of now is the 30-30 wait. drinking for 30 minutes before eating and waiting 30 minutes after eating to drink. It's hard, but if we can incorporate it in beforehabd it will be second nature by the time we are sleeved. I read once it takes 16 days to form a habit, may as well try forming a good one
  12. I love all the virtual support, just wondering if there are any contenders in my neck of the woods. :-$
  13. Wow...you look awesome. How tall are you, if you dont mind sharing?
  14. Madam R...u are so funny! (nicotine card holder) I am preop and my Physician tasked me with stopping the smoking prior to surgery since I am a type II diabetic and smoking along with diabetes hinders healing...so far cold turkey almost 30 days...BUT I am eating more. I hope to be totally smoke free by the time I have my surgery (tentative Nov-13). It's challenging, I am trying to learn how to replace bad habits with good ones pre surgery. Last on the list...FOOD.
  15. Thank you all...I'm not going to say anything, because being overweight myself. I know how hard it is to have someone say something about the elephant in the room..like you have suggested, I'm going to just focus on the positive information she is giving me & useit to my benefit. It's high time I learn to moment own business for the positive changes necessary for my future. I really appreciate the honesty & good advice
  16. I'm preop, but LOVE reading all the posts from you post op'ers...I am scared to DEATH about being so sick,so I am going to try and stick with the regime my NUT has advised, very nervous about not being able to tolerate the protein shakes, ect especially while on the full liquid diet for 30 days. Welp I guess it's par for the course...just hope one-day I can have a small glass of wine again. Must admit reading all the postoperative posts is a little overwhelming, but helps with preparing for the mental part of adapting to the sleeve. Going on line to order the book Emotional First Aid Kit, now
  17. So I meet with my nutritionalist and she mapped everything out for me from a preop diet to the steps of post op. My ONLY concern is that she is not physically fit herself. Now don't get me wrong, I respect that she knows what she is talking about as my Physician is ultimately the one who oversees my health; however it's just a little concerning to know that she doesn't really practice what she preached. I really hope this doesn't sound rude, just wondering if anyone else's NUT was over weight & did it matter to you?
  18. Thank you so much for the information. You and others who don't mind helping us newbies out, is EXACTLY why I love this site!
  19. Dallasgal...would love to hear a follow up on your EM procedure...I'm having it done on 9/25 and am scared to DEATH I'm a preop scary cat
