    Feeling Alone

wow, I am so sorry that you are going through all of that. Support is an extremely valuable thing and I would not like to be feeling like I didn't have any at home. Just know that you can come here and get support whenever you need it! Someone is always here and available to help lift you up and answer questions. Do you have a friend or coworker that you could ask to take you to your appointment? Just remember you are doing this for your health and keep pushing forward. I have faith in you - you can do this!!!!
  2. I am 5 weeks out today and have had no problems. In the hospital I was up and walking right after surgery. I did have some minor gas pains and was tired the first couple of days but that is it as far as surgery effects. No need for pain meds after I left the hospital or anything. I have lost a total of 37 pounds, started at 265 and am at 228 today. I have not had problems with nausea and have had no vomiting. None of the foods I have tried have disagreed with me. I don't need to sip as I can drink a couple ounces at a time no problem. My only true issue has been constipation which I am working on. Pre-surgery though I wasn't exactly "normal" with bowel activities and this way of eating with high protein has exacerbated the issue so I am taking fiber gummies daily and miralax every few days. I am very happy with my recovery and with my surgery!!
  3. Thank you so much for your insight. I really appreciate the advice and I think you both are right. I do need to make sure that she feels important to me and I don't want to lose our friendship. definitely something to take to heart.
  4. Thanks all. I do hope that we stay strong in our friendship through all this because I really value having her in my life. She said she didn't want me to feel like I had to be her friend??? Had to? Really? I didn't decided to be friends with her because of her weight or mine so I guess I just don't see how my weight changing would impact that but I hear what you guys are saying in that we do change as we migrate to different sized and through different experiences. I just need to remember that this is on her mind and do what I can to make sure that we stay connected.
  5. So yesterday I am out walking with one of my best friends. She has been having issues lately, stress at work and chronic pain, etc. and but has been even more emotional lately and withdrawn. We were walking and I ask how she's been doing. She said better, then started to cry...??? Turns out she went back to see her therapist the other day to see if she could get some help and figure out what was going on. They were talking and the therapist asked her if there had been a recent trigger that started all this. My friend didn't think so but started listing all the things that had happened recently. Guess what her trigger was..... Me having surgery and losing weight! It seems that previous friends have lost a bunch of weight and changed their behavior and attitudes and she was concerned that would happen to me. I tried to reassure her it wouldn't and I didn't get upset but when I got home I guess I slipped into a bad mindset and started thinking, so she's fine being my friend as long as I am the "fat" friend but if I lose weight and am "skinnier" then what? I am hoping that is not what she meant. Anyone else had to deal with something like this and have suggestions for how to help her along with my weight loss or do I just go on and hope she gets ok with it.
  6. I have not had any hunger. I am just over 2 weeks and can have my protein shake sitting right in front of me and still forget to drink it because I'm not hungry. But I am tired of liquids at this point. I have had a few soft foods lately but am trying not to go overboard since I don't really get to start soft foods until Monday on my plan. I have heard that some say they have hunger but it can be head hunger or too much acid in the stomach?

    broth post op...

I am 2.5 weeks out and I feel the same way. I can definitely drink more than 1/2 cup at a time (although for some reason I still have trouble remembering to get all my water in), I can take normal drinks, not sips, and don't get any kind of full feeling. I have not tried to push to far cause I don't want to cause issues but I often wonder if he took enough too or if I won't ever feel the restriction. People say that once we move to solid foods then we should feel it so I am hoping that is true.
  9. Hi everyone. I am officially out 1 week from my surgery and I'm doing good. Still working on getting more fluid in. I am still on clear liquid and my dr says not to add protein until day10? anyone else have to do that?
  10. I had surgery on the 16th too. Doing really well. The pains not too bad and walking does help. I haven't had anything to eat but ice chips and can't until after my leak test tomorrow but I am hoping I tolerate food/broth ok. Hope everyone is doing well and healing.
  11. I'm going to agree with the kids. That's quite the spreadsheet you have there. lol
