BCBS is a great company. No other company will approve you faster or treat you better. I had United Healthcare at the time of my surgery and I wished I had BCBS. So just give them a call and maybe they will push the paperwork faster.

I am going through the same thing. My taste buds change all the time. I can't do those "sweet" unsweetened drinks either. Right now it's plain Water, occasionally G2, and mostly water with lemon. I make a big pitcher of water, add sliced up lemons and a few limes and some ice. It is delicious! It gets more and more refreshing each day! Try it and let me know what you think!

I am 8 weeks put and not eating anywhere near what you r eating. That sounds like a lot of food! I eat 1 or maybe 2 eggs over the day, 1 yogert, a Protein Shake, some cheese. Maybe try cutting back a bit.

Ok...before I give my opinion let me just stress that this is just that...my opinion. I am about 8 weeks out. Sleeved on 6/25.
I totally understand the latte/frappe urge. I too used to indulge. I would suggest a substitute. No it's not gonna taste the same but it's better for you right now. Try a latte with non fat milk and stevia and maybe try a little flavor. And no whipped cream...not right now. I know...it sucks...but listen...everyone says that the first two years of the sleeve are the best time to take advantage of this tool. You just went through major surgery...you gotta slow down cuz it sounds like you are digging up some old habits...and it would be so easy to fall back into our old ways....you gotta resist the urge! Fight!
As far as food, I would swap out some of those yogurts for more meat - hamburger, steak, fish, etc. I love yogurt too but some of them are sweet and you can get more bang for your buck in terms of grams of Protein with meat. Eating more dense Protein may also help curb your appetite for that sweet coffee.
As far as exercise, do you have headphones? If so, put on your sneakers and get moving! I have to push myself most days, cuz I'd rather not...but then I think about the fact that less than two months ago, I was laid up in the hospital getting my stomach cut out...and I didn't do that for nothing so I've got to stay on course!!
This is your time. You have the opportunity to create a new you. This is your chance for a do over! You will succeed! You've already lost weight! Oh yeah, you didn't mention Water....get that Water in...get yourself a special cup that you use just for water... a little corny, maybe...but my big red cup has helped me get it in!!
Ok, let's see...I think that's it...hope this isn't too preachy...if so, sorry...just wanted to pass on some of the encouragement and advice that I have received!
You know what to do kiddo...JUST DO IT!!! :-)
    I wish you every success!

Hello Sleevers! Hello my sisters and brothers from others mothers!
I'm new to the forum. But certainly not new to trying to lose weight. It's been a life long battle and after much soul searching, consultation, research and thought, I've decided to Gastric Sleeve it!!
Just finished Chemotherapy a few months ago, but I've finally gotten the go ahead from my oncologist and PCP to have WLS. They both feel, losing weight will help me in the long run, especially since morbid obesity plays a role in many gynecologic cancers.
So, here I am. Went to the seminar on July 19th, had my first doctor's visit last week on August 15th, went to my mandatory support group this past Monday, August 16th, had all my test done today at the hospital, from the Upper GI to the EKG, to the labs. I have appointments on Monday with PCP and Oncologist for them both to sign off. Then I have my psych eval on 09/03, cardiologist visit on 09/04, first NUT visit on 09/11...and final NUT visit on 10/1... I have NJBCBS Direct Access and they've already pre-approved it based on my health condition and BMI, only need my oncologoist to sign off and me to visit the WLS doctor for three consecutive months... and they'll pay 100%... yippie! Doc said I should be able to get surgery by mid Oct... I'm so excited and ready to rock and roll..
Just wanted to share a little bit about me..and also to introduce myself to the group... thanks for listening and thanks everyone for sharing your journey... I've been reading quite a bit.
    Bountiful Blessings...to all.

Jerzeygurl, Wow I'm so sorry you had to have so many treatments. Well you keep kicking cancers butt. Praying that you come back clear. There are so many so called "cancer cures". But, I do believe cannabis oil is really good. Unfortunately we cannot get it in NY. I believe you may be able to get in PA. Just a thought. I also drink warm lemon Water every morning to alkalize my liver. And milk thistle supplement. I was first diagnosed with uterine cancer in 2000 and now colon in 2011. Having this monkey on our backs is so scary. Several of my drs. suggested going in for it. Well good luck and please let me know how everything works out for you. You're in my prayers.

I think you are sterotyping a bit. I go to a Unitarian Universalist Church where we do a lot of the same things. We have potlucks, hikes, and do lots and LOTS of volunteering/social action. We have ppl from all faiths but most are Athiest. We started going for a place to get that community feeling and get active in our community. You can see if there is a UU church in your community. I think vounteering regardless of if you go to church or not is a great way to meet people. Best of luck!

Yay!! Congrats! I was approved months ago, but had to do a stint in chemotherapy, then wait two months post chemo to get re-considered for the sleeve.
So far so good. Took all my test, still have to see the Psych and the Dietician, doc says he should be able to get me in by mid October. The insurance company is making me see the dietician in two separate months for it to count as three consective consultations.. so I'm scheduled for 9/11 and 10/1-- I just can't wait..to start this journey.
I wish it was October already..lol not that I want to wish away summer, of course.

Start by cutting back on your sugar intake, cut out your junk foods, up your Water intake and eat more Protein and fresh veggies and fruits...
I haven't been instructed to lose any weight before surgery, but I decided to start on my own by cutting out junk, sugar and adding more Protein, fruit and veggies. I also started walking last week, 3 days a week. I'm done 10 lbs in a month (went to seminar on 7/19). My first visit with the NUT is 09/11 I hope to go in there 15 to 20lbs down, so he will see that I am super serious about my decision.
Just start slowly...switching out the bad stuff. I've lost a great deal of weight before, just was never able to keep it off..and the one thing I remember from my countless number of diets is more Water, less junk, more protein, more veggies and more fruit.. worked every time.
    Good luck.

Start by eating 3 meals a day....and up Water intake to 64 oz. try to limit or remove refined sugar in your diet and stay away from pop.....
take small bites and jot everything down that you ate in a day...Do not eat everything on your plate..Start by deliberately leaving 1 teaspoon on the plate..It will help break the habit of eating everything on our plates that we were taught by our mothers good intentions.....
Small steps yes...but it is a beginning...
Up Protein amounts and veggies too..K This is how I started to lose my weight before my surgery......

I'm currently 336. When I decided to do the sleeve a month ago, I was 346. I've been slowly cutting out sugar and drinking more Water. I figured, I'd get a jump start. If all continues to go as planned, my surgery will be sometime in the middle of October.
congrats to all for conquering the Kraken...

Jerzygurl got a reaction from honeylove in ? About nicotine testing
Yep, had all my testing done today at the hospital and he did not request nicotine testing. I guess it's because I'm a four time cancer survivor and he figured there'd be no way I'm smoking. He would be right, of course. But I know in the seminar class, he told everyone there, if they smoke, they'd have to go 6 months smoke-free before he'd operate.

Pre-op I drank over 120 oz of Water a day. I can now barely get in my 64 oz. I've never had Water poisoning and my skin pre-op was flawless. Post-op I'm getting back there.
It is tough but I find my body moves and feels better when I'm hydrated. I miss my water being higher so I'm working toward getting back there.
