  1. I did get my first fill on 10/18 and I actually have been feeling restriction. I had my first slime last week (2 weeks after my fill) and it was so painful I don't think I will every try to eat pizza crust again. I really notice the restriction in the morning. I can only drink something hot or eat hot oatmeal. I absolutely cannot eat anything cold in the morning. Tomorrow I go for my 2nd fill!! I am kind of nervous...how much more restriction can I have? My fill center is really agressive with the fills. She told me she put in a lot (I forgot to ask how much) and that I would definitely feel the difference. I felt it, but I am not sure I want to feel it any more than I already do!
  2. WOW!!! I just thought about it and my 2 mo anniversary is coming up too. It seems like it was just yesterday, really. 40lbs is fantastic!!! And it will only get better. :clap2:
  3. Hi blooh. What part of the PH are you from? I go to metro Manila quite often for work. I was worried about missing food too. For food was my very best friend. After my surgery I wrote a goodbye letter to my "best friend". I always used food to comfort me. In my loneliness it was always there for me. However, it has not been too hard to let it go. The reason is that I can still have almost everything I did before, but in small portions. I don't stuff myself anymore to drown my feelings. Good luck!!
  4. I love that feeling!! Especiallly when you aren't expecting something to fit!!
  5. My Dr. said that I can have a soda every once in a while as long as it's on a empty stomach. I was sooo addicted to diet soda before...I think I drank about 6 Diet Sprites a day since I was 8 years old. WOW! I feel so much better without aspartame and all that other junk so I will stay off the soda from now on. I now drink flavored Water and propel.
  6. Don't worry about it...move on. It happened and you can't take it back. It happens to all of us!!! Plus I can think of a lot worse, so you didn't do so bad!
  7. Congrats on your 1st fill. Sometimes it takes a couple weeks before you feel the fill?? I don't understand it, but that's what people say on here. I have felt this myself. After my 1st fill I felt restricted, then about 5 days later, I felt I could eat whatever. That changed dramatically 2 weeks after the fill I started getting food stuck all the time. Yesterday I thought I pb'd, but it was a horrible slime session and I had to go back on liquids. Getting food stuck/pb/sliming is so painful!! That will discourage me from trying to eat bread!
  8. They should still give you a fill. Mr dr shows me a chart and asks questions like "are you hungry?" "Do you snack in between meals" "how much food can you eat" to determine if I need a fill or not. I lost 15 lbs by the time I went for my 1st fill and they really filled me on my first fill. Maybe you should get a new scale? I have a health-o-meter slide scale, just like in the dr office so I know it is very accurate.
  9. That is the worst feeling. I have lost/gained weight many times and hated that part the most. I always made it just to the border to XL and sometimes it fit, and sometimes it didn't. I felt like I was right in between plus sizes and regular sizes and I hated it! I just wanted to belong to one them! Just focus and use your XL clothes as a goal. You will be there in no time!
  10. Hey everyone, thanks for your support. I feel a lot better today. A good night's sleep was the best solution for me!
  11. I hate the reaction too, and that is why I decided not to tell anyone. People have these ideas in their head and they think that just bc they have never had a weight problem, you shouldn't either and it is just your willpower. Screw 'em!!!
  12. Ok, what the heck am I supposed to do with myself when some emotional problem happens and I want to eat? What else do I do? Today my really good friend of 15 years called to tell me she was pregnant after just 2 mo of trying. I love my friend and am overjoyed for her but I have been struggling with infertility for years. So, of course I am happy for her. But I feel bad for myself...why can't that happen to me, blah blah blah and I am having a pity party here. So of course the first thing I want to do is eat, but I can't bc I slimed this morning and I am so sore, that when I tried to eat lunch it got stuck too. So I am on liquids and I don't know what the heck to do with my depressed self to make me feel better. I went to the gym and worked out for 75 minutes, but that didn't really make me feel better. Then I decided to go shopping and maybe heal my woes with some retail therapy...but that didn't work either. Should I just deal and tomorrow will be better? food always made me feel better and I don't know what to substitute that with now.
  13. Congratulations and Happy Birthday!!! I have been waiting to renew my license until I lose some weight!
  14. Cooking for me and my hubby has defnitely proved to be a challenge. But it has worked out. I cook about 3 x a week. I cook healthy things like a stir fry (keep the vegetables crisp so it reheats well) and other chicken/vegetable dishes that reheat well. We eat it the first night and the 2nd night we reheat it. My hubby has actually lost some weight even though he only has 5lbs to lose
  15. I just read a book about lapbands and it says to "leave some for the angels", meaning to leave food on your plate for angels. It sounds funny, but it works!
  16. I had one fill and I can definitely tell the difference. Mornings are especially hard for me as I am really tight. If I try to eat anything that is not warm, it will get stuck. It might take a couple more fills for you before you feel it.
  17. Wow wheetsin, you are right. I didn't read your post and just tried to eat some tuna fish for lunch. Two bites and OUCH!! I am in pain and sliming again. Thanks for the advice, I didn't know.
  18. I ate something first thing in the morning I shouldn't have and I didn't chew well. Then came the pain in my chest and the pressure. I kept burping over and over again and then this thick salivia kept coming up and I had to spitting it up. It went like that for 20 minutes, burp, spit, burp, spit. Was this a PB? I thought that a PB involved the food coming back up too? Only lots of salivia came up for me.
  19. I started walking every day about a week post op. Then I started going back to the gym around week 4 and got back into the full swing week 6. My dr. recommended 6 weeks, but said that as long as I avoid abdominal exercise, I should be ok at week 4. I am at 7 weeks po and still have tenderness when trying to do ab work, so I am still avoiding it until I feel better. I exercise 4-5 days a week at the gym, 3 days a week at home.
  20. Congratulations Nancy! You are over the hump of getting approved for insurance and now get ready for the new YOU!
  21. The bodybugg truly makes a difference. I had started to gain weight back before my 1st fill. I started using the bodybugg 2 weeks ago (this is my 3rd week) and I have lost 8 lbs. I LOVE it!
  22. Tomecia25, You should call UHC and ask them specifically what you need to get approved. Each plan is different. sometimes they want a 5 year history, sometimes they want you to try a diet for 6 months. If you only have a history from 2002-2005, then that will have to do. I never did go to the dr much, but I did go to the OB/GYN annually for my check-up. That's where I got my 5 year documentation from. Is there any change you went to you OB/GYN??

  24. I haven't had any problems with it fitting under my clothes. I thought I would, because I wear alot of suits to works and the sleeves are sometimes tight. I was especially worried about a wool houndstooth jacket that is 2 sizes too small, but it fit just fine. I was also worried about people noticing it was under my sleeve, but when I tell people about it, they ask, where it is. So, you can't really see it.
  25. The woman who gave me my fill is a physician's assistant. She is Vietnamese. She is a little cold, but I think that is her personality. I thought she just didn't like me... but now that I hear she is like that all the time, I won't take it personally! Joaquin, what time you get in and out depends on what time they schedule you for surgery. I was the last person scheduled for surgery at 1:00pm in the afternoon. they were running late, so I didn't have my surgery until 6:30pm and I got home around 10:00pm (decatur is about an hour away from my house).
