    First 5K finished today!

Thanks everyone! I would have never imagined that this is where I'd be 6 months out!
  2. 5k finished in exactly 35 minutes! Ran with my amazing support group of friends, coworkers and my youngest daughter. They made us awesome shirts that said , "Are those New Glasses?" I told them when I had the surgery that comments about my weight would make me uncomfortable. They were only allowed to ask me if I got new glasses or a new haircut. I love these guys.

    Down 150 lbs

Those biceps will help in the fight! Great job!
  4. I'm down 85 pounds - 30 to go. And I'm RUNNING. I can't believe how awesome I feel.
  5. I use this app. But there are many!
  6. The previous comment said all I would have.
  7. Awwww.. That's a first! A shero! Remember you can do week one more than once. Just move at your own pace. There's a Zombies! Run! App that takes you through a story if a zombie apocalypse as you do the c25k. I might switch to that one. Sounds fun!
  8. JeanZ, I was bored with walking and I LOVE being outside. Plus my dog was getting fat!! I looked at a couch to 5K program and saw the first week was only running for 60 seconds at a time. I promised myself I would give it two weeks and see how it went. Just try it. If it's not for you, then no harm done. It's about getting out there and having a sense if adventure!! Go as slow as you need to!
  9. Onedaycloser, I started Couch to 5K training four weeks ago. I ran/walked a 5k in 30 minutes this weekend! Let me tell you, with my history of bad knees I NEVER thought this could happen. I love the surprises in this journey!

    So many emotions.

I felt the same way about the money aspect. I'm only 4 months out and the number of hikes, bike rides, etc. we have taken together has already made up for anything monetary I could have given them.

    A holiday everyday

I am so incredibly sorry for the loss of your niece. What a beautiful soul. I love this idea of a holiday for every day! Thanks for sharing a piece of her with us.
  12. I'm three months out and have lost quite a bit. It's worth it to me though. I've lost 90 pounds since may, so what's a little hair in the grand scheme of things?
  13. I'm 5'11. Pic on left is at high weight in May of 290. Surgery was September 9th at 263. Pic on right is now, three months out at 210.
  14. December 3rd was three months. SW 263, CW 210. 53 pounds!
  15. I think it is different for everyone. I personally didn't notice any moodiness.
  16. First picture was May 2013. High weight 290 and a size 24. Had surgery September 2013 at 263. Today (second pic) is me at 224 and in a size 14 jeans! This included a three week stall. Things are looking up!

    Dry Brushing

I got it from this blog. I got all ingredients from amazon. It is heavenly. Makes you smell like a chocolate bar for 20 minutes or so after application. I consider that a plus! http://holisticsquid.com/whipped-body-butter-homemade-lotion/

    Dry Brushing

I've been doing it for about a month. I'm only 6 weeks post op so I can't tell how effective it is for loose skin yet. However, my skin has never been so soft! I'm also using a homemade lotion of cocoa butter, coconut oil and almond oil that I LOVE.

    Pumpkin Mousse (Easy)

Yum! Just what I was looking for!
  21. I'm the same. Just 6 weeks out but so far it has been an easy ride! I'm so thankful.

    Doc was pleasantly surprised!

It won't make you feel worse. It will give you faith in humanity and doctors again.

    Doc was pleasantly surprised!

There is a thread on here called "Ted Talk - Insulin Resistance andObesity". You MUST watch it. It is about a doctor who treated an obese patient with contempt and now regrets it. So powerful and so like your situation.
  24. So powerful and thought provoking. Makes me want to forgive myself a little, too.
  25. Madam, how are things? Keeping my fingers crossed that you are doing better!
