kitkatcannon got a reaction from Jolene-journey in Non-scale Victories
What are some of your non-scale victories? I had my surgery July 26th. So far I've lost 34 lbs but there's other achievements that I see that help me on the days the scales aren't going down. I've gone down a pant size and anywhere from 1 to 3 shirt sizes. I'm starting to see an increase in my energy level. My thighs aren't rubbing together when I walk and I can tell that I walk differently now. I climbed two flights of stairs earlier this week and could still breathe when I got to the top!. Lol

I struggle with the smoking thing. I didn't quit pre-op like I was supposed to but I did cut back. I was so nervous about my surgery, which was July 26th. I was so afraid I was going to have complications because I didn't quit. I got lucky and everything went great and I am recovering very well. I am not justifying smoking. I'm just saying that I was very lucky. I told myself that I was not going to smoke after my surgery but I'm still struggling with it. I don't smoke much but I do smoke a few. I can't even enjoy them because I'm too worried that smoking is going to harm my sleeve, which it very well could. I think it's been harder because I'm still on liquids and am struggling with that. It's been hard giving up food and trying to give up cigarettes at the same time. Fact is that smoking after the sleeve is a very bad and dangerous idea. I WILL quit and I hope I can find the strength to hurry up and do so. I feel for everyone struggling with this issue. We all worked to hard for this. Do we really want to risk it all for a cigarette? If we have the willpower and strength to do everything we have to do for our weight loss, I believe we can kick the smoking habit, too.

I can wear an xl shirt now. It's a thrill being able to shop in the normal clothing sizes again. I haven't been able to do that since 1993!

So this is right before surgery and then another from this most recent weekend. And yes, I know the suit is a little big for me now, but I haven't had a chance to have my suits altered yet...Still, there's about 40lb difference between the 2 photos. Apologies for the low resolution....better pics in the future...

I'm so happy I made the decision to have this surgery! Other then the birth of my kids, this was the best thing that has ever happened to me!
Don't mind the severely messy hair.. Daylight savings doesn't work on kids and I've been up since 4:30am :/, but look!! I have collar bones!!

I have now lost more weight, than I have weight to lose (lost 89 lbs; 88 lbs left to lose). I guess on the journey of weight loss, I'm now over the hill! Still have a long way to go. This forum has been a huge part of the journey, and I thank each one of you for being a big part of it!

Dizzy, lightheaded, fatigue, dark urine, disoriented all of these can be signs of dehydration. B12 shots sound like a good thing as well.

You might have answered your own question. The more you work out... The more your body will require fuel. You look like you're making healthy choices. Keep up the good work

I had this and then I remembered my doctor said B12 deficiencie is a big deal. Even though I'm taking a supplement I was worried I was not absorbing enough. I went and got a b12 shot and felt way better after. You may want to try that.

I am good about my Protein and taking my Vitamins. You do have a good point. It could be something like my Iron. I go back for a follow up appointment on the 20th and will discuss it with my doc then if I don't end up calling him before then. Thanks!

My surgery was June 7th and it took me about 9 weeks to get past the exhaustion. Make sure you are getting all of your Protein in and liquids as well. It takes a long time to heal from this surgery and find a normal place. You might call your doctor and have your blood work done if haven't done so yet. Your Iron level could be low as well as other things. Good luck!

I confess that I too, think about food way too much, but I know Im not really hungry.
I confess, because of number 1, that I am totally addicted to sunflower seeds
I confess that I drink caffeinated coffee everyday, but add Unjury unflavored to it.
I confess that since I quit smoking in December, I still think about smokes everyday. (prolly explains #2)
I confess I eat chocolate once in a while, but I think that is why I DON'T eat it everyday.
I confess that I USED to get upset about missing my old eating habits, but now Im proud of the fact that I don't give a crap about it anymore
I confess that I lie to my husband when he wants to go out to eat and I don't. I tell him I don't feel like it. The truth is, I have better things to do than to sit and watch him and the boys make 5 trips to the buffet.
I confess that I am secretly amused when my husband eats a big plate of carbs and fat... I just think "Keep going skinny man, one day you wont fit into that chair".
I confess that I am proud of the fact that I am forty something and getting physically fit. I make sure everyone in the house knows I just came from the gym.
I confess that I looked in the mirror way too much today, the first day I have worn size 14s.
