  1. Happy 1 month surgiversary to all my fellow August 6er's!
  2. 1 month out tomorrow and I feel great! I'm down 34 pounds total (14 in 3 weeks pre-op & 20 in 4 weeks post op). I'll be starting back to tennis next week. I've ditched 2 clothing sizes. Dr. hubby who was against surgery has been VERY nice. I can drink liquids easily & am tolerating most meats. Life is good
  3. Apartments near Whole Foods: 1 1/2 miles north on Yale are Ridge Park, The Lodge, Pepper Tree & The Vintage, 1 1/2 miles west on 91st are Lakewood & Crown Chase. There are also apartments at the corner of 101st & Sheridan (about 2 miles), but I didn't get the name. This should cover a variety of rental rates from luxury to mid/low. Good luck with your apartment search! Can't wait for the store to open
  4. I totally agree, at three weeks out I just wish I had done this sooner. No complications, no hunger, no cravings, & a feeling of satiety when I eat. This surgery has been a blessing and I thank God for it every day!
  5. Wow! You look absolutely fabulous! So inspiring!
  6. I did not feel any restriction until I started thick purees. Hand in there through your diet progression. Now I'm having trouble getting enough protein and liquids in because I feel so full all the time and waiting to drink before/after eating.
  7. TMI warning: Had a BM and went down to 214. I'm taking it
  8. I've stalled out at exactly 215.0 pounds. Scale is not even wavering 2/10 of a pound...for some weird reason I find this amusing instead of annoying.
  9. Lol! Not me... I have a nice round face even at 120 pounds!
  10. 2 weeks out and I feel pretty much back to normal minus hunger and obsession with food!
  11. I get a "one more bite might be too much" feeling and I usually hiccup.
  12. I'm down 12 pounds since surgery. I lost 14 pre-op in 3 weeks (one week low carb and 2 weeks liquids). The Baked Ricotta was great. I doubled the recipe so my family could eat it as a side. I cooked some Aldi turkey meatballs and puréed the Ricotta Bake with a few meatballs. It was really good. I am eating about 1/4 cup of purée before I get an "I'm full" hiccup. I wanted to eat more, but it just wasn't going to happen. As for other purée ideas, you can purée just about anything as long as there is some moisture. I puréed leftover round steak baked with low fat cream of mushroom soup, onion soup mix, can of carrots and jar of mushrooms. It worked out fine.
  13. A few years ago I finally found an exercise I love (tennis) and kept getting injuries. Final straw was getting overheated on the tennis court and not being able to cool off because of the 100 lbs of "insulation" I've been carrying around. I just got completely fed up! My parents have high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea & one has had a stroke at 57. My husband told me a few years back that he was no longer attracted to me and my preteen daughter has started making remarks about my weight. I think I just had the "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore" switch flip. My friends are very supportive and so far I'm really loving this surgery!
  14. 2 weeks out and starting purees today! I'm excited to have some chicken salad!
  15. I'm starting purees today...anyone else? If you come across a good recipe or combo, please share it! I'm making The World According to Eggface's Baked Ricotta tonight for dinner.
  16. I have the same as you do. I had surgery August 6th and no complications so far.
  17. You need to eat your protein! I'm supposed to get between 60-80 grams a day.
  18. You got to goal weight in a month?! I would talk to your doctor immediately.
  19. . I chewed a roll and spit it out on my 4th week of liquids. I really wanted to chew something! It made my jaw muscles get tired of chewing and really didn't taste that good, so I haven't bothered since. I start purees tomorrow and am excited about having the varied taste of real food again. That said, I am thrilled with the results of my surgery so far and wonder if the "3rd week stall" is related to beginning food again.
  20. Greenbriar is in the iffy area west of Southern Hills Country Club. I don't know about the complex specifically, but that area has had a lot of crime in the last few years.
  21. I'll do a drive by and send you the info.
  22. Just got finished reading through your blog...thank you for sharing your journey!
  23. I'm so excited for Whole Foods to open on my end of town! Are you looking for an apartment? There are some apartments and condos about a mile and a half away at 91st by my tennis club, The Grand. I'm blanking out on the cross street, but it's close to Riverside. I don't rent, so I couldn't tell you prices, but I had two friends who have lived in the complex behind the club. They've both moved out of town though. Let me know if you have any other questions. Will the Whole Foods have the hot food bar? Fingers are crossed...I hate cooking!
  24. I'd avoid anything north of Admiral, east of Mingo (above 51st), and west of the river (above 51st). The area west of Southern Hills Country Club is pretty bad. Hip areas include Brookside, Downtown, Cherry Street (15th Street), and the Pearl District. In suburban areas, midtown has more crime than far southern areas. You can get just about anywhere in town in 20 minutes. I love Tulsa!
