Stacy_Renee got a reaction from donamay in Discouraged :(
I weigh and measure myself every Monday. I record my losses in a notebook that is my food log as well. I am 9 weeks out and have had 2 weeks, one at 4 weeks and one at 8 weeks that I lost nothing, but don't get discouraged because the next weeks I lost 5 or 6 and it made up for the week that I didn't lose. I have lost 45 lbs so far and am ecstatic about my progress. I struggle with getting enough fluids and am getting much better with my Protein, it is a learning process. I am the happiest I have ever been and am SO glad I made this choice, feeling amazing! Good luck, don't psyche yourself out with the scale

The best exercise for discouragement is:
    1. Go to a large city.
    2. Find the tallest building.
    3. Walk the stairs to the top.
    4. Walk to the edge of the roof.
    5. Throw your scale off, don't hit anyone below.

Take a deep breath and remember that this is a life long journey. Slow losers are even better because it gives your body the opportunity to adjust! I too am a slow loser and it was hard for me not to be obsessed with "losing weight". As long as you are sticking to a good diet plan the weight will come off! And you will be HEALTHY. So put the scale away and enjoy your life...and dont compare yourself to everyone else, i only lost 20lbs post op! And stalled but eventually started losing again! With the new healthy way we are eating...the fat has no choice but to melt off! good luck and congrats on all your accomplishments!

I understand about feeling isolated at times. My husband doesn't mind eating in front of me, he is a stick and can eat anything he wants and not gain a pound (butthead), so I am lucky there. My mom didn't want to eat in front of me and no matter how much I told her that it was ok, she still said she felt bad. It honestly didn't bother me. I have been dealing with people not understanding the limitations of my physical ability, right now. I was sleeved on July 2nd (forgot that in the beginning). I am pretty OCD about my house being clean and was lucky to be able to be on disability leave for a month, but I have been doing more than I should and I feel like it is expected at this point. My husband has been good about telling me to take breaks and rest, thank goodness. I have been very vocal about my surgery on my FB page. I feel like a lot of people I know have hidden that they had the surgery because of the stigma of it being "the easy way out". I feel like I can educate people on the fact that it is SO NOT the easy way out and about the entire life change we have to make. It has helped my confidence and I have so much support. I figure that if they have a negative opinion they should keep it to themselves, as this is a personal choice and in my case, there were many health problems I had that are gone after the surgery. I feel blessed to have this opportunity. Most people in my family don't understand this, but I luckily have a sister that had the surgery in March and has lost over 70 pounds. It is nice to have her to talk to and I have several other friends that have had the surgery also and being able to discuss all the things about post op, is really nice. I love this site, I have found many answers here and am grateful for that! I was down 18 pounds at my post op apt and don't have a scale right now (ordered a digital one) but I am keeping track in inches as well. I have lost 11 inches overall since the post op visit and that is a great feeling!

Ok, my doctor had said that gummies were fine, each doctor is so different. I called my doctor and he thinks it sounds like a pulled muscle, since I have no other symptoms and it is only moderate pain. Only hurts when I'm standing or I twist, laying down and sitting isn't bothersome and I can lay on my back and press on the area and it doesn't hurt, only hurts when I stand. I was just concerned about the leaks, just get paranoid so easily when the pain comes. He said to take it easy and call if it gets worse. thank you all for the advice

No one is here to be nasty...We all know the struggles with food addiction....You know what you are doing wrong and now you must focus to get back on track.....Knowing what the areas are that you have trouble with is 1/2 the battle....
We all need a treat now and then...
I think you have something there when you talk about the fear of getting under 200.....I know where you are coming from....I too fear success.....
But.....work through it and see how it goes.....
Your still here and working at it...Be kind to yourself and stop sabotaging yourself.....Get your hair done and nails too......Be good to yourself....you deserve to replace food with things that will last.....
Go, go, go....you would not have gone through the surgery if something deep inside of you was ready.....remember that okay.....

    Great topic!!!
I think we can ALL relate. Some days are harder than others. Me, I can have NONE, but I can't have a little (If I have one I have many, so I work HARD to have none).

If night eating is your main problem, choose not to eat after, say, 8pm every night. Water only after that time, then go to bed!

I feel your pain Indium47!! My heart also goes out to you - this must be very hard for you being newly married. But, this is going to be the best test for your husband. Make sure you tell him what you need at this time. He won't be able to figure it out himself - but, he will want to help. Since, our hormones are all over the map during this time, it is hard enough for us to figure out what we need from those we love. I am dealing with things with my grown daughter - she just doesn't get the serious situation that this surgery has us going through. I truly think she thinks this is the easy way out - and thinks I was the weak one to need to do it to lose weight. She has no idea that this is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life.

Fiber can help. I got the Phillips Gummy Fiber chews. Also I was told to put 2 TBS of mineral oil in my shake every a.m. The manager in my doctor's office is 3 years out and she told me the Dr. gave her this advice. She said she is regular every day. I had a horrible time of it today. Had to drink magnesium citrate. Plus the pain of trying to get the initial flow going had me sweating and in tears,

The yogurt didn't cause the leak. That's ridiculous. There had to be a problem with her staple line. Yogurt can go through a strainer so that blows that theory.

I am 20 days out today, and was cleared for soft foods today. I finally worked up the nerve to try some for dinner, and what a difference! I too felt that I was able to get in quite a lot of Protein Shakes, full liquids, etc. So tonight I tried a little less than 1/4 cup mashed cauliflower/potatoes (no skins), and 2 ounces of poached salmon. Heaven!! But, about 20 minutes in, I knew there was noooo way I was going to finish that salmon! I did manage to finish 1 ounce, and the 1/4 cup, but my sleeve is feeling nice and full. Didn't feel this way during full liquids phase, and I am so relieved! It looks like this might just work after all! Ha! :) I was gettin' a little worried there...

This is just NOT true please don't say this kind of stuff! My doctor was more than happy for me to be on puréed foods including yoghurt from the start. One spoonful of yoghurt will not cause a leak.

I am 3 days post op and felt the same today. I am working on small sips, but really have no problem with drinking or getting shakes in. My full liquid diet for 2 weeks also allows for pudding and yogurt. I was feeling like there was something wrong, as I ate about 6 oz of Tomato Soup for dinner with no issues. Not having hunger pains, but makes me nervous that I will be able to consume too easily as the diet progresses. Glad to see I am not alone. I am also in VA and plan on going to the local support group for tips and information.

I was also sleeved 5 days ago. I find I can drink and eat and still feel somewhat hungry. I don't know if it's actual hunger (my stomach is growling), or if its just settling or gas or what-not. I do still have some pain when I stand, but it's getting better. My doc also said I can have yogurt. I've been eating yogurt, sugar free pudding, cream Soup, etc. (not all at once, of course LOL)
I'm hoping this isnt a hunger feeling. I really dont want to desire food anymore...and at the moment I do :/
