Sleeve Guru...what an amazing post in response to the original, and one I was not expecting at all. Because of my large size (very round face and thick neck) I have been avoiding the one thing I've never had in my 53 years...a pixie cut. After reviewing your post and the cool link, I'm seriously thinking that this may be on my list for my 100 lbs. lost milestone or my surgiversary. Thanks for posting!
Ms.K...I don't think there are many here who will judge you harshly. It actually sounds like you're struggling with issues a LOT of people deal with. And believe it or not, because I am still Pre-Op (I leave tomorrow morning for surgery on Tuesday), reading posts like yours that are not all over-the-rainbow and never-a-single-problem is so very helpful to others of us in keeping a really good perspective about the whole process. I truly think you have a wonderful chance at success and am so sorry you're struggling right now. Just know there are a lot of us that have you in our thoughts. Hang in there, sweetie!

I feel the exact same way! I hate hate the Protein shakes. Trying to get the Water in and not coming close. I feel like I'm almost 4 weeks out and I'm failing already. This is a big big adjustment and I think it's going to take is time to get used to out new bodies.
Just know you are not alone. Promise.

Hi All! Before I start, I would just like to advise readers that this post is being written just to get some things off my chest. Please do not criticize or judge... because this past month has been stressful to say the least. A little background, I had my surgery on June 26, starting weight on first visit was 207, surgery day I weighed 195, and 1 1/2 weeks ago I weighed 181. I do not have a scale in my house because I don't want to get into the habit of stressing about loosing pounds, so I weigh myself at my grandmother's house every 1-2weeks. The day after surgery I was released from the hospital, no complications or problems, and I did not take any pain meds from that point on, which I am very proud of. I really wasn't in much pain at all, and I'd rather have the little bit of pain then have my stomach get upset from the pain pill, so I opted not to take them. I am very happy with the weight I have lost so far, as my old clothes are fitting me very nicely, and when I shop not I don't have to shop in the plus size section!!! I am, on the other hand very upset at myself for not working hard enough to get the required fluids and Protein in. (as I am literally wiping tears from my face because this is how upset it makes me) I really don't know what my problem is, maybe depressed cause whenever I think about it the tears just start flowing. But anyway, I know I can do better, the motivation just isn't there.... and this really bothers me because I DON'T WANT TO LOSE MY HAIR!!!! So mad cause I know by not getting the required nutrition I am not putting myself in a good position to be healthy. On a good day I will get 20 or so oz of liquids and Proteins, ha! maybe 10-20 a day.... I know, I'm not doing this right!! Again, PLEASE don't bash!!! I've been going to sonic daily to get slushees, cause I am able get those down with no problem, but that's like 20 oz... and I also try flavored water, and sometimes can drink a bottle, but that's about it.... I also eat greek yogurt with 2x's the protein, chicken, cheese, and anything else I can with protein in it cause, though I love the taste of the Protein Shake I have... I struggle getting 1 20g bottle down. BTW, Core Power, strawberry banana is delish!! So, these are my stresses. Just venting, and don't mean any harm, just wanted to get it out. Oh, before I end this, just want to add that I am on regular food. I eat maybe 3 times a day, love string cheese, tried pizza 1 time and it went fine, now no problems with any food I have eaten so far... Good luck to all of you!!!

By 3 months you shouldn't be having too many issues. Yes, definitely stick with foods you know you can handle, but that may be easier said than done....being in a totally different environment. I've heard lots of people say after VSG that nothing is quite so disruptive as taking a vacation and being away from your daily "routine." In that first year that routine gets to be very comforting.
Regardless, you should be okay. Just be mindful of what you eat. Make small plates and keep in mind that people care much less about what you're eating than you do, they may be too busy eating their own food to care. Have fun and good luck.
As far as the down low??? Can't help you there. I found telling everyone very liberating. But as Arts137 stated, whether you tell or not, people are going to notice the weight loss and it will be THE topic of conversation. Be prepared for the "how did you do it?" questions. Tell them you went paleo and watch their eyes glaze over.

You need to stop obsessing over the weight and losing it- a positive attitude is more than a state if mind, it's part if self-fulfilling profacy! If you truly believe that having 75% of your stomach removed will not help you become a healthier being, then you are probably going to prove yourself right. Change your thoughts -- change your words -- change your life, I feel sorry for you.

This scares me. But I love all the positive ideas and words of encouragement. I say if what your doing is not working, turn it upside down. Get plenty of sleep, lower your stress through quiet walks or whatever calms you, get back to basics, try the 2 week liquid diet, then do the puree stage etc to kickstart the beginning when it was working. See this as a challenge NOT a roadblock, I am guessing your a fighter since you have come this far. And I bet nothing is going to keep you from reaching your goals.

You never fail till you stop trying !!! See your Doctor, See your Nutritionist, change your exercise routine. Do strength training to build muscle. The more muscle you have the more calories your body will burn. Remember... Protein & PRODUCE !!! Slow and steady wins the race. Please don't be discouraged. Have you gone to the doctor? I have had my history of thyroid problems and that can make it very difficult to lose weight. Just a suggestion... I hope you find something soon that helps!!

I have no advice, as you're pretty much living my worst fear, and I can't imagine how hard it must be to be doing everything you're supposed to and see no movement on the scale. But I just want to say congratulations on all you have already achieved, and that I hope you never give up on yourself!
I've noticed a lot of vets are having good results with the 5:2 program...I wonder if that might be a good next step for you?

Thanks everyone!! After a failed lapband and years of truly dieting and exercising for no weight loss has me very scared. Every week i am truly thankful for that 1 lb gone. Just needed to hear something besides "i lost 12lbs today and its been two months and i am at goal". lol. Thanks!!

You don't get to control your rate of loss and for most of us it doesn't even form a good pattern you can rely upon, so don't get too comfortable.
Have other people done this? Yes. I'd argue far more lose slowly than quickly, but those "I lost 90 pounds in six whole days!" posts get hundreds of responses while the more reasonable and moderate losses don't get the same attention.
Relax, you're not alone. This is a long road, no matter how quickly you lose. Getting to goal and being able to maintain is far more important than losing quickly. Everyone hits plateaus or stalls along the way and everyone gets worried that they've lost as much as they can when it happens. You keep doing the right things, push through it and keep slogging along until you reach goal. Then, you keep doing the same right things and keep being accountable for the rest of your life. It's a forever choice we made to have surgery - I wouldn't worry too much about losing slowly.
    Good luck,
    ~Cheri

Anyone lose 1-2lbs a week consistently...like over months and months? I am 10 weeks out and for the last 6 weeks that is what i lose. Slow is ok but i am afraid that it is going to stop soon. Would love to hear from anyone who lost at this rate pretty much the whole time and is out 6 months or longer? Just need a little reassurance. Thanks!!

Yes, after the pre-op and first month, I've been losing 1-2 pounds about 8-11 per month. I thought this was slow but I am just shy of 6 months post op and I'm down 95lbs. When these smaller numbers add up, they lead to huge accomplishments.

I was sleeved July 1st - weird that we are both stuck at 21 lbs. I told myself yesterday that I wasn't going to weight myself until the weekend....of course that didn't happen and I weighed myself first thing this morning and still no movement!

I'm 15 weeks and never had a stall. About every 4 weeks I have a week with no loss, but the next week is a big loss. I'm sure that's hormonal. Weighing once weekly has been a godsend. It's easy to track patterns. I would be a wreck if I weighed every single day, there's no way to track trends. That's crazy!

Hahahahaha! I think the exact same thing! I feel like I will never lose another pound and I did all of this for 21lbs?! So not worth it! lol When was your surgery? Mine was June 26th and at exactly my 2 week mark I stopped losing. It has been 11 days for me

I am pretty sure my calories are too low. I get in my fluids without any problem, and I rarely have anything with carbs. I am not quite at the level of Protein I should be at though.

I'm three weeks out and I have been in a stall now for 10 days. I know it's "normal" but it is frustrating. Of course I have convinced myself that I will never loose another pound and that I will be the only person ever sleeved who looses just 20 pounds. Someone gave me some good advice yesterday....stop weighting yourself for a couple of weeks.

Mine was at week 3, lasted 2 weeks. I started making sure I brought my Protein up and have strived to get close to Fluid and carb intakes and I have continued to drop.

Mine began after I had completed my second week post op. Now approaching my 1 month mark and STILL in a stall! It's just starting to piss me off now.
As far as getting past it, did most of you change what you were doing, or just ride it out?
