7/17. Down 19.2, 26 inches lost. That is 4.8 lbs avg per week loss in 1 month! Why does everyone say I've only lost this much or that much? Everyone is different. I feel great and am proud of my numbers. People are ticking me off saying oh ... You're just a slow loser. I don't think this is slow. Just saying.

I live in the real world. Where people eat bread, rice, and Pasta. If someone told me id never be able to eat bread again after wls Id hafta hurt em. Melba toast was on my soft food list (hubby and I did an experiement. Put a pc of melba toast in some Water along with a small pc of bread. 10 mins later the bread was about 4x the size and the melba toast was the same. Then I understoof why I could have that vs bread). Dipped melba toast in my egg yolk, put tuna salad on them, used it to dip in my chili. Wherever I used to use bread, I used melba toast.
At about 2 mths I had 1/2 of a 1/2 of a bagel. Went down fine. Since then, I eat Pasta, rice, and bread on a daily basis. I can eat about 2/3 of a pc of wheat bread. Sits fine. I don't do low carb, otherwise I obviously wouldn't be so pro carbs. I had wls so Id never have to diet again and counting anything seems like dieting to me.
I strive to eat healthy, cut back on fast food, cut back on junk food, but I don't limit myself to only Protein and veggies. Works for me. I'm losing slowly. I know I could speed it up by watching more of what goes into my mouth but I'm done obsessing over food. Its not my only thought anymore. And if I was couting everything, food would be my main thought in the day.
Not sure if my plan is very popular around here. Thank God I have a sleeve that limits my portions to very tiny amts of food.
Ok, what was the ? Again? Oh yeah, when can u have bread again. If it were me, I would've already had it. Most people try to stay away from it tho.
The answer is in there somewhere....I think...

bread doesn't sit the best with me anymore. It's a blessing really cause I loved it so much. I make pizzas using low carb tortillas as crust that's about it. I'm 3 months post op, lost 35 lbs which is slow but my nut told me that the slower it comes off the less saggy skin and stays off for good meaning less likely to regain. Good luck and if you are dying for bread, eat a soft small pretzel

I am terrified to try it. I am 14 weeks out..have 25 lbs to goal. I am literally terrified of all sugar and flour products. I only eat pita crackers once in a while. I havent had any other white carb. I am scared I will eat it and gain 10 lbs..or start to crave them again. I don't know if I will ever get past it. Its like an abusive relationship for me. Eventhough it was my fault, I feel those things are thr enemy and I am scared to let them back in.

I'm about 1 month post op. I woke up and just didn't feel like logging my food or eating to plan. I didnt take my Vitamins or eat all that healthy. I mean nothing crazy but i did eat a little bread and it wasnt very good and didnt sit that well. So I'm done with that. Oh I did have an Unjury hot chocolate. Tomorrow will be better but I was just in a mood. Has anyone done this? I feel sort of bad about it since I've been religious according to plan. I can't be the only one to slip this early! Am I?

Nope. I've been out of tracking mode since vacation a week ago. I've not logged my entire day since the Sunday before last. ARGH! I am still eating what I should and I know I am under calories/carbs/fat but I don't like that I've lost my OCD regarding tracking.
I am kicking my ass back into gear, though. That's all I can do. I got in my 10k steps today, I went to my kickboxing class as well as my TaeKwonDo class. It felt SO FREAKING good to get back into my exercise track that I know getting back into my food cycle will as well.
shake it off and restart what you are supposed to do now. Not tomorrow, not Monday, NOW.

Today I am 1 month post op. I have lost 19.2 lbs so I guess I'll be a slow loser but have lost a ton of inches. I'm overall a happier person and excited for what lies ahead. I have been fortunate that I had a speedy recovery and have had no issues with food or illnesses. I look healthier already and feel fantastic. So for anyone at the same point in time as me, stay positive. My weight loss in pounds may not be drastic but I'm totally ok with slow and steady. Happy Friday!!!

I do feel full but I can eat a good amount and then I'm hungry pretty soon thereafter. I find what is helping me is myfitnesspal app. I basically log everything that I put in my mouth. So I eat lots of small meals throughout the day making sure I don't go over my goals set for my food intake. Example, I can eat one slice of reduced fat cheese and 3 pieces of deli turkey meat. I get full then about an hour later I ate a 5 oz. Greek yogurt. For lunch I ate tuna creations 2.5 oz with a teaspoon of light mayo and 6 whole wheat pita chips. I average about 700-800 calories a day and am almost 1 month post op. some people say that is a lot but I have lost 19 lbs, lots of inches and it is working for me. Know your body and don't press the limits. It's learning all over again how to eat and make the most of your tool. Don't waste your intake on bad food. Protein, veggies then starch! You can do it!

tml74 got a reaction from stamour1 in Almost 4weeks out, need some meal planning advice
Hi. I was sleeved 7/17 but my doctor allowed soft foods after 2 weeks. I eat just about anything chewed very well. eggs, chicken, fish, tuna with light mayo, low fat cheeses, I also mix unflavored Unjury in my crystal light fruit punch or mio flavors and like that better than the creamy sweet chocolate shakes. It's too much sometimes. I stay away from a lot of carbs and eat Protein, veggies/fruits and then carbs if there is any room (usually not). I also find using myfitnesspal app is so helpful for me to keep track on the summary.

Hi guys, just my two cents for July VSGers who are concerned there're not loosing weight to their satisfaction or fast enough, have more patience. Easier said than done, I know but trust me...you're fine. It took a long time to put the excessive weigh on, you need ample time to take it off. Were in a weght-loss marathon, not a 100 meter dash. Keep focused and positive. Sometimes you have forget the scale. A better indicator that your moving in the right direction could be how well your clothes fit or increased mobility.

My favorite fast food option is Chick Fila. I get their 4 count and sometimes 6 count grilled nugget kids meal. I get a fruit cup with it and the diet lemonade. I always wait till I'm home and mix the lemonade with Water because it's so tart but it's yummy! I never finish the fruit cup. It's high in Protein, very low in carbs and low in calories. It's an excellent choice for a meal for anyone wanting to lose weight. I also get the grilled cool wrap which is wrapped in a flax seed wrap. I tear most of the wrap away and eat it. It's way more than I can eat in one setting and so good for you. I haven't stopped eating out because We are a busy family. I just make wiser choices! The sleeve is an awesome tool to lose weight but some look at it like a ball and chain!

I never thought I would ever say this (EVER), but today I didn't work out, and I feel kind of bummed about it. Like I'm missing something. It kind of grows on you and into your routine. When you don't do it, you miss it. A year ago, I would have bet a million dollars I would have never said that, but I'm a new person since VSG.

I've eaten fast food. I had chick fil a meal with grilled nuggets, fruit and diet lemonade. It took 2 sessions to eat the nuggets and I ate 2 orange slices and 3 berries. also get grilled chicken wraps plain from McD and eat a little of the tortilla at Taco bell I would get pintos and cheese. Remember you can have most anything it's the choices you make and the life you have now. Protein, veggies then starch. I never make it to starch.

Just stick with it, and youll learn to love it. I could not stand exercising before and now after 2 months of exercising regularly I am starting to feel like somethings missing if I dont do it. Buliding muscle and continuing to exercise will be key to maintaining your weight once you reach your goal. I got a trainer twice a week to encourage and be accountable. There have been plenty of days that if she wasn't going to be there waiting for me I wouldn't have gone. Now I go 5 days a week and still only meet her 2 because I see the benefits now, and it feels good.

Treadmills can be a little tedious sometimes! Walking outside at a nice park or in your neighborhood can be much more fun, especially if you have a friend with you! I've been pleasantly surprised with how many friends of mine jump at the chance to go on walks with me when I suggest I'm going on one. Maybe see if any of your friends want to set up weekly walk dates? Something about being in the fresh air is really rewarding too...and definitely a better smell than the gym!
Besides that, I am not the biggest fan of exercise too, but you know what? I've been doing the Jillian Michaels 30-Day Shred workout DVD every morning before work. I have made it a part of my routine...get up, do the workout, shower, make a shake, head out the door...it's just a part of my life now! Plus it's only 20 minutes and I am DRIPPING sweat when I'm done...damn that Jillian Michaels! She gets results but I hate her at the same time! And I always feel great when I'm done exercising...proud of myself for doing something good for my body and my health. Keep at it and try different things, don't give up! Exercise isn't an option anymore...it's a requirement.
    Good luck!

The same thing tomorrow. And the day after. And the day after. You may not learn to love it but appreciate it for the investment in yourself that it is. It'll get easier. Besides, it'll get you into shape a little for those tennis lessons!
