  1. I wish my insurance require only 3 months. I have a full year of supervised diet and exercise. Already did the psych thing and cardio, and ekg, dietician, and so on, and so on, and yet I still have 10 months to go!
  2. voodookitty, don't be so hard on yourself. I've seen those resin chairs soften and colapse several times. Not everyone on the chair was a "big" person. It has happened to those of average weight. Keep the faith, your day will come.
  3. I can only imagine how happy you are. I can't wait until I can do the same! All in time. Keep posting your NSV's as I truly find them inspiring! Thanks so much for sharing!
  4. I've had a fatty liver for years. Unfortunately it is usually the way with people who are over weight. I doubt it will stop you from being banded, my understanding is that it another reason to be banded.
  5. I too have to go through a year of supervised dieting and all the crap before the insurance will consider me for lapband. I will wait and go through the requirements. I am trying to avoid self-pay. As for MM, don't believe everything you see in his movies. Alot of it is just plain old BS.
  6. It was my PCP that recommended me getting the band. I have been with this Doc for years and he has documented all my stuggles with yo-yo dieting. My last check up he asked if I would at least check into banding. Even gave me the name of the surgeon who will be doing my surgery once I get approved by insurance. My Doc has been very supportive. Thank God!
  7. I too am saving my pennies for when and if I need PS after losing my weight. I haven't even been banded yet, probably not until next year because of insurance requirements. Then a year or so after that before PS. I have started NOW to save for the PS if I need it. I even told DH I was not buying a new motorcycle since the one I have is almost paid off. Then that money will go into the PS fund as well. Yup, I'm gonna get there!
  8. Congrats! I have Health New England and they require I do a year of supervised diet! Good Luck!
  9. Hi Harriet! I have attended the support groups. I am going to go again and again too! I found them interesting and very informative. Thanks! I will be seeing you soon!
  10. I have to do a supervised diet for a year. I have no hope of being banded before May or June of 2008! But I'm gonna keep plugging away.......if I don't then I know next year I will be sitting here wishing I did it then!
  11. I have/had a bladder control issue. Whenever I sneezed, coughed, laughed, I'd "leak". Enough so that I was wearing a sanitary napkin every day to prevent my leaking on my clothes. I complained to my doc a few times and finally he sent me to surgeon and they put a "hammock/sling" in. This gives my bladder support so I don't leak when sneezing etc. It's been a life saver!
  12. Westfield, MA for the past 8 years. Born and raised in NJ. Grew up in Burlington Twp.
  13. Thanks so much for the support, you got me laughing and I needed that! I will send him here! I'm going to see my surgeon again before I see this butthead so I will have a heart to heart with my Dr. about it all. Thanks again!
  14. I started my supervised diet in June, and I have already been to the surgeon, nutritionist, dietician, exercise specialist, and psych. And I have to wait a year before my insurance will cover me?? In the meantime, I have to keep going back to these people. Yup, my insurance is paying for those visits.
  15. That is exactly what I asked! He says my insurance won't approve my banding if my BMI is low. And from what I understand I do have to complete a full year. Why doesn't this guy just tell me which exercises are best with the band so I do them now. Why not discuss foods and how to eat when I get the band. I get that I have to lose some weight for my liver....but I also know that my weight lose will be for a short time without the band. I have been fat for 36 years or more!
  16. I have to lose 10% of my body weight. I have to lose 27 pounds. I'm a third there! I have to go to this guy because he works with the Weight loss specialist doctor. Per my insurance I have to do a year of medically supervised dieting to be approved. I am so bummed!
  17. I just came back from seeing the "exercise specialist". I am so frustrated and confused and I have to admit discouraged too! He tells me in order to get to my goal weight I need to change my eating habits (I GET THAT) and that I need to exercise (I GET THAT). He is telling me that if I follow his instructions my BMI will reduce and I will be down to my goal weight and I won't need the lapband and the insurance will not approve me. Since I started this adventure in May, I have attended seminars, support groups, seen the surgeon, the Weight Loss Specialist, the Dietician, the Psych, and now the Exercise specialist. All of which have a $40.00 copay with my insurance each time I walk in the door. Now my gripe is not the money. But what burns my A** is some skinny dude sitting across the desk from me telling me I need to make changes. I know that, I got it. I've tried. I've had a weight issue since I was 12 years old. Does he think I just now decided to try to do something about it? I've done all the "diets" and I lose, no problem. Keeping it off is another story, I yo-yo and gain it back and more! Does he think if I could do it on my own I would be wanting the lapband to begin with? I lost 10 pound since June 11th. I am trying. He wants me to lose another 10 in the 8 weeks I'm due to go back. I can do that. But 36 years of weight issues have taught me that my weight loss is temporary. I fear this guy is not on my side where the lapband is concerned. I'm really discouraged!
  18. wanabthin, congrats on your date! You are so lucky to have things move forward with such speed. I went to my first seminar in May and I will have to wait a year before I get a date! And yes, I am pulling my hair out! Best of Luck to you.
  19. Good Luck Danny. Keep us posted on your progress.
  20. Take a deep breath! It's coming!
  21. I've started. I saw the surgeon in May, and so it began. I've lost a couple of pounds so it is a start. A year is a long way off......but I also know that if I don't do it now, a year from now I will be wishing I had started!
  22. Congrats! The new you is about to emerge! Prayers coming your way!
  23. Hi Lafsalot and welcome! I too have to do a year of supervised diet by a physician. It sucks cuz I just started my journey too! I have Health New England for insurance and it is required. I will watch this thread just in case there is a way around it, but I haven't found one yet!
  24. Welcome and best of luck. I too am just starting the journey, and you will find tons of wonderful useful info here on these forums. Every question is important and everyone has info to share. Good luck!
  25. I want to fit in the seat for the rollercoaster called the Superman here at Six Flags New England. Years ago I just squeezed in and the ride was great. Had not been back until just this month and low and behold I could not fit in the seat. No ride for this fat ass! So when I get banded and lose enough pounds, I'm heading back to tackle once again that rollercoaster!!!!
