Ive been a sleep tech for yrs and assure there is nothing about sleep apnea thats a scam. U wanna know why it dont work for people who had them in their closet????? They dont use them. U can die from sleep apnea, high blood pressure, stroke, and the list goes on. I suggest u do a lil research

Mokee, the only reason I did the sleep study was to hopefully find out I have a mild form of apnea and that would count as a comorbidity for me with my insurance co. I think that's why most people follow through with this test, so it will help out with insurance approval. If this weren't something my ins co was looking for as a comorbidity, then I wouldn't have had the test. I am thankful my results were negative, that just means, for insurance purposes, all my other comorbidities have to count.
But I know of others that have apnea and use their cpap and love it!

I refused to take it. I think this is a money making scam. Everyone I know that has been diagnosed with this has a CPAP machine in their closet, never use it because they can't. I snored and probably had the so called disease but I have been thru many surgeries so why do it now. It seems that we go thru an awful lot of testing for this surgery compared to other surgeries where you just go and have the surgery and you are done. Maybe it's a way for the insurance to drag it out and they hope that you get tired of all the hoops and don't have the surgery. This is my opinion.

As I understand it, the best type of Protein for us is whey isolate protein. A lot of the cheaper protein powders are whey concentrate or whey blend, which is not as good quality and not absorbed as well by our bodies. I don't know about Body Fortress, but it will say what it is in the ingredient list. I was using Six Star from Wal-Mart, but it was a blend. Now I use Syntrax Nectar in the vanilla Bean Torte, chocolate Truffle, & I also have some unflavored to mix into foods to boost the protein. It has 100 cals per scoop, 0 carbs, 0 fat, and 24g of whey isolate protein.

For me it's burpees. I'm reasonably certain that if you rearrange the letters in the word burpees (maybe in another language) you end up with Satan

Hello to my fellow August sleevers!!! I haven't checked in lately. I went to my surgeon's office for my final weigh-in today. I'm down 9LBS on my 2-week pre-op diet.
August 12th sleevers we're next up to bat on Monday! *screams* I go in at 5:30am and surgery is set for 7:30. I'm not too nervous; my faith & support system keeps me strong. My prayers are with all of my sleeve sisters & brothers!
Good luck to those who are post-op and current/future pre-op dieters. :-)

If you need something OTC for pain, CVS actually has liquid Tylenol in Adult strength. If you can't find it, you can use children's Tylenol, chewable or liquid.

How far out are you? Have you tried to drink them at different temperatures? Since it is consistency, if too thick, add Water or milk. If too thin, mix in some yogurt.
In my experience, after trying dozens of Protein drinks/powders and not liking them, I found Premier the best for me.
Early out my tolerance for anything was low, but as my stomach healed, that changed. It may just take some time if you are early out.

I have worked in Emergency Medical Services (ambulance) for the past 23 years, currently a Paramedic/Supervisor for the last 13. I am noticing more and more emergency services personnel showing up all the time here, funny most people would think we would all be healthy and fit from all the running around we have to do, of course if you haven't ever done the job you don't understand the amount of down time and pure stress of the job. I believe the stress in the medical fields are what truly lead to there being so many medical oriented folks who are overweight and therefore likely to get VSG.

I am also an RN currently doing hospice. I worked in ICU at local hospital for almost seven years my over weight body just couldn't handle it any more. back pain, knee pain, foot pain you name it. why are there so many overweight nurses? Because we don't have time to take care of ourselves. work long hours, without having time to eat and if we can eat it's not always nutritious, and too tired to exercise. Don't get me wrong I love my job, it's very rewarding but enough is enough I have to get this weight off 20 years is a long time. This is my first post i've just been reading. I haven't scheduled my surgery yet but I am hoping for January. I am scared to death, but i haven't changed my mind I was hoping to do it with in next few months but i'm out of vacation time.

I'm a 911 dispatcher for a three county dispatch center in Northern Michigan. I've been working midnight shifts for the last 12 years and for most of my adult life. I'm curious how many others would attest that shift work throws their eating habits (and sleeping) into a spiral of chaos?

I feel a little guilty, I think doctors are partially to blame. I know I was always advised if the nurses were giving you a hard time or paging you all night, the solution was bringing a box of donuts or cupcakes to the nurses' station!
